did anyone try to change ta another brand? and did that help?

i have the same problem, had a bunch of other brands before then after one change it started to spit out of the breather.

Yes and yes. You can change the oil or extend the breather as above.

Let me revive this thread.

I've been having this issue with my rb25. Oil leaking out of my tranny breather hose. Yesterday I changed my fluid, thinking that maybe my shockproof lightweight had worn out and become even thinner and this would fix it. I also added a small water/oil separator at the end of the hose in the engine bay, like someone in this thread suggested a long time ago. I though this would fix it and it would take forever to fill the separator/filter. Well, today I popped the hood to check on my filter, and...

So, after doing further research I came across this thread from '10.

https://aus300zx.com/xenforo/index.php?threads/oil-from-gearbox-vent.300868/

Very interesting. One member mentions how having a bent vent tube pointing downwards can cause this problem. I did noticed mine is bent a bit, downwards. I will bend it up a bit as soon as I get a chance, hopefully this solves my problem.

I just thought I'd share this in case anyone out there is having this problem.

I will report the results.

I still have dramas with mine, Thinking about changing oils and going away from redline lightweight, But the box feels so much nicer with redline oil in it.

I'm fairly certain I bent the tube straight a while ago and still didn't fix the issue, thats when I went to the breather setup, but I'm getting problems like yours. Was starting to think I had put the one way baffle plate in the wrong way when I rebuilt the box but think I would have bigger issues if that was the case.

Be interested to see where everyone else is at with this issue, I first thought someone mentioned a batch of lightweight shockproof that was doing this but it was not an issue with later batches but I've had a few bottles through mine by now

Mine worked a couple of years with redlige. But after one change the problems came. Changed again to a nej redline and the problem remained. Now i drive with mobil1 and havent had a single problem ?? First i bought a cheaper oil and drove a couple of miles then changed to the mobil1 just to clean the inside and get rid of the redline oil

Which oil are you using? Im thinking of changing

A Guy here in sweden works with renovate skyline engines and gearboxes. He hates the redline oil and says it damages the gearboxes. The picture is of the redline oil

the other picture is the oil he recomended and the one i have.

Redline shockproof is a band aid for stuffed synchros, not for tracking. Or so I've read.

Depends on the viscosity, lightweight is intended for old boxes that are still ok, heavy is more for stuffed synchros and such. Or so I've read.

Well, it's been over a month now since I bent my vent tube up slightly, and still having the same issue. As much as I love this blue stuff, I might have to go a different route... I was also thinking maybe the baffles inside the tranny.

I'll look into that mobile mobilubeGX. Any other recommendations?

    • Wife wanted basket things in the wardrobe in our temporary house. Thought about ripping our the wardrobe and fitting the entire IKEA set, but it's a temporary house and we want to move in a few years. So IKEA advertises this as a 50cm unit, however the actually basket and rails measure 46cm wide. Only issue was depth, IKEA stuff is quite deep, where as the builder special junk is super shallow at less than 40cm. Send it, chopped the rails, then offset the mounting holes, job done, happy wife, less shit scattered all over the bedroom. Did the same to the other side too. Also drove the Skyline shit box today, dropped off oil at Supercheap Auto. I didn't realise they only now take max 2x bottles per visit. I visited 2x Supercheap Autos.
    • I've seen similar actually in my situation. You never know what tables are attempted to be used when the car thinks it's -99C or +200C. The fail state is not usually that extreme but you know what I mean - it was in my case though! This is where being able to read all the sensors is useful cause you see this stuff really quickly.
    • The above is very important. However as long as you keep timing relatively low, it's plausible to make your own knock ears and plausible to learn to tune with a modern ECU that can do wideband O2 correction like a boost controller. I mean if you only have one viable road to even drive the car on, learning to tinker to this level may be worth doing given you can't do much else with the car...?
    • I find the fact that the rear plate has to be bent inwards at the rear not so bad: but the front is just awful: It's like come on. (these are my very old, now retired/turned in plates) TBH it is a lot of money to fix a minor issue, the fact I said "I'll never really spend the money on doing this" is why people ended up buying them as a gift for a 'car guy' who can be hard to shop for.. for car guy things.
    • I just bent the ends of my premo plates. It even went through Regency like that after the engine conversion and the inspector (a great bloke!) just squinted his eyes and said "I didn't see that". Plates, and how they look, are just something that have zero importance to me.
