Hey guys,

I have a 95' GTR V-Spec, and ever since I've had it it's had no rear wiper, which I find more aesthetically pleasing than the ones I see with them. However, I've never actually seen another one that doesn't have one?

I know the N1's came without a rear wiper, just wondering if it was some kind of option/feature? Or probably after market?

Cheers.

Do you have the swtich to use the rear wiper?

Has the entire rear wiper mechanism been removed?

Could just be a custom job or get you build plate and VIN numbers and post it on SAU and someone can decode it for you.

There is a thread called "VINS, You Wanted Fast"... Or something like that, just do a search and post the numbers in there.

thats pretty odd.....

i dont know why manufactures dont put them on alot of cars these days.....even Merc & BMWS...alot of the fords and holdens dont either

and if yuo notice...the S15 200sx AUS full import has no wiper.....but the JDM Silvia S15 has.....

im assuming that the japanese climate is different as it snows there etc.

but still...i think all cars should have them....

well as the other guy said....get some info of the car....

worse comes to worse it could be a custom job.....or maybe a repair from a crash?

but anyways hopefully its nothing major.....

if you really want one...id say go to a wrecker find a R33 and get one installed DIY with the wiring diagram.

but im not sure if R33 GTS-T have the exact same one.

Mine doesn't have one either. It is a '95 GTR V-Spec.

There's no hole in the back glass so the rear window is specific to one's that have it or don't. My car does have the same controls on the wiper control but does nothing if you turn it on (obviously).

^^Yeah the ADM S15 did not come with rear wipers but had those ugly red brake reflectors on the rear bar.

Just off topic but in reguards to the ADR requirements, my R32 GTR is a '90 model and did not need side indicators on the front guards but needed a rear parcel shelf brake light, but from '91 models and up, you needed side indicators but no need for rear parcel shelf brake light.

It doesn't look right to me either.

I want to remove mine.

is there a stock way of removing it without buying new glass? some kind of stopper for the hole?

Yes there is a way to remove it and plug up the hole with a bung, you can buy a Moonface Racing rear wiper hole bung from www.rhdjapan.com, thats what im using on my gtr at the moment, just remove the wiper motor etc and put the moonface bung in its place, looks alot cleaner than having a rear wiper.

whatever you do, dont try and yank it off by pulling upward with as much force as possible, or you'll be left with a shitload of broken glass!

push downward on the centre of the wiper, and gently pull the other end up that connects the wiper to the cog on the wiper motor

    • I just bent the ends of my premo plates. It even went through Regency like that after the engine conversion and the inspector (a great bloke!) just squinted his eyes and said "I didn't see that". Plates, and how they look, are just something that have zero importance to me.
    • Yeah, I would have said the same. It makes me suggest that there are other things wrong, such that the ECU is totally unhappy with the broken sensor. The only other thought here is that maybe it is shorted, which might cause a different issue to the typical "disconnected" sensor.
    • The fact that US/JDM plates actually fit the skyline bumpers properly is a big, big thing for me as they are the correct dimensions. Annoyingly you can't opt for a normal plate (or plate combination) in that size. You have to make up your own one, and at that point you'd still know it wasn't randomly assigned.
    • Well, really, that's any ECU, because it's not so much the ECU that the tuner connects to, but a laptop that's connected to the ECU. You have to have the tuning software installed locally. The "remote" part is essentially just remote desktop (RDP) or VNC type access. Nevertheless, if you're looking to upgrade, then you're immediately in the Haltech/Link territory, both of which can be done by any number of competent tuners here in Oz. But without a dyno, you'll definitely also need a wideband O2 sensor fitted, and you'll probably be relying on "auto" tuning a bit, where you drive it around under various loads and then apply the corrections that the ECU learns (basically applying the fuel trims that the ECU has to do to correct the mixtures). Tuning the timing is a little harder. It can be difficult to trust the old OEM knock sensors on RBs, so it is definitely best to have someone who knows what they're listening for, with knock ears (a piezo microphone connected to the engine, and and little amp and headphones so the listener can hear the angry men with hammers who live in the engine). That is more difficult to do remotely, and I suspect the only sane way is to be quite conservative on timing. But that's OK. You're probably waaaaay better off with conservative timing where you are. What is the fuel situation? 98RON available? Or low grade jungle juice?
    • I see your point, I didn't think too deep into it, was purely focused on the price. There's no bad blood between myself and GSM, they acknowledged the price was cheaper else where and at the time couldn't match it.
