On the westgate freeway today around 9:50am going into the city just before williamstown rd I saw 9 cars pulled over all changing their tyres!! Dunno what was on the road but what ever it was they all copped it!!

geeesh...I wonder what caused all those tyres to malfunction?

oh..btw...off topic for a sec......is it tires or tyres?

Tyre is British English... ...Tire is American English... ...And Australia uses British English spellings for words... ...Seeing as Australia is still part of the Commonwealth...

But we are getting flooded with so much American media... ...It wouldn't surprise me if you were told you were wrong for using "tyre"...

man...I hope I don't ever get busted for using the wrong tyres!

Thanx Htial.

mines going well

206,000 on the clock and due for a service

water temp doesnt exceed around 72 deg

no issues with detonation under full load - did a knock fix on-road tune about 2 weeks ago

I have a 96 R33 and my water temp always sits between 80 and 86 :) .Coolant seems pretty clean too!may be just gold coast weather?

Strange, alot of ppl are saying 70ish degrees for water ans oil temps where mine, even on cold nights are 80-85 oil and 82-84 water temps.

do rb25's run lower than the 26 and which ones run oil coolers; was under the impression that oil operating temp are over 80degrees ????

My mate had to fill up on 91ron yesterday because apparently in the heat the petrol pumps can't accurately measure the amount of fuel flowing through the pump on higher ron fuel in high temperatures. That's what the dude in the store said anyway. He was out in woop woop so he didn't have much choice.

Nothing more sluggish than an Evo on 91ron in the heat.

I just make sure the engine oil and radiator coolent level is topped up.

Don't give it much stick, just take it easy and if there is a car wash I sometimes get the high pressure hose and give the car a hose down and blast the FMIC with cold water to get a bit of heat soak.

my cooling system is completely stock so i haven't had any problems recently

although, back in march when i first started driving the car, i was sitting in traffic, and my radiator overflow bottle - overflowed...

i think i need a new radiator cap

mines running fine... just not driving it till these 40's have gone.

got my water pump in my room dont want it to be an OMEN like those dudes who have there car alarm waiting to instal then car gets nicked.

i'll play it safe :P

Mine runs fine in the heat. Oil temp is just on 70 sometimes a little over. Not as much power as in the cold but in this heat I can't be arsed driving so it's usually a very mellow 1 hour cruise home.

I used to own a 94 EF falcon on my P's in 98-2001 and that thing was awful in the heat! I had to drive it with the heater on all the time to keep the water temps down! Then I blew a heater core and the footwell carpets got soaked. On a hot day I'd come back to the car and all the windows would be steamed up then insidde it was like a wet sauna!! YUCK!!!!

haha i had an ef wagon. had to carry aroung a few bottles of premix coolant as it used to over heat at the drop of a hat

the 33 is sluggish but otherwise its doin ok. except for the fuel tank leaking vapors at the restrictor cos the sealant has become pliable and the petrol is expanding. too hot to touch the outside of the car too

To all of those paying out on the Fords/Holdens, how many skylines do you see driving around with 400,000kms on the clock without having been rebuilt?

Go line up against a new GT/F6/R8/GTS etc for a few consecutive runs on a 40 degree day, then come back and post up the results

Man's got a point.

My AU has 150,000kms on it, makes all sorts of wierd noises, but is still going strong :P

actually, I reckon both you blokes have a valid point.....

but I for one won't drive a farking over-clocked, noisey bomb, for the sake of it, and be proud of it......but hey, that's just me. :D

EDIT: ooops..I just realised...I didn't mean to say that your AU is a bomb.....sorry if I innitially made it sound that way.....150K is still good, spesh for the big Ford.......400K, as mentioned prior is just not safe. (no 're-build' ?)

mines going fine in the weather, especially today, 40+ with the air con on full speed. Obviously a bit doughy in this kind of crazy heat but engine temps in mine arent really any higher at all then if i fanged it about a few times on a mild or warm day. Of course it wont be abused in this kind of weather, just putt it about :P

i have an r34 and with the 3 gauges the one in the middle which is oil temp. does anyone know at what point should i worry mine was up nearly half way on the gauge and i dont know what temp that is because there is only numbers on the bottom and top which is stupid. so im hoping mine is normal.

    • What copper washer do you guys use on the bleeder bolts? The existing one I have I had no idea where to find it in a local store, I did buy some online but that are only 1mm thick whereas my old one is 2mm+ thick and when I put the new washer out and squeeze the top radiator hose I can hear a bit of air but not with the old one. Does this matter? The new one doesn't leak, but the inner diameter is a bit loose whereas the old one threads on the bolt.
    • Howdy all, after being out a few weeks ago on a spirited drive in my GTR I have 2 issues that oddly have appeared at the same time. Whilst accelerating quickly through the gears all of a sudden i’ve lost power at the top of third gear (below redline around 6000rpm) for no obvious reason.    From that point onwards the car has been running rich on idle, won’t really rev under load without a ton of black smoke and the odd backfire, and dying as a pull up to a set of lights unless I keep the revs up around 1500rpm. In addition when shutting down the car that same night (I was 10 minutes from home) I noticed one of the turbos was significantly noisy on wind down when shutting off the engine. After letting the car cool down overnight it starts up fine, although once it gets to temp the revs start to creep up and down, the exhaust is darker than it should be and it also sounds like it’s running rich (fat note) I’ve put a new set of plugs in it - no change, the old plugs all seemed OK with two of them being somewhat richer/fueled up than the other 3 with 1 being borderline. I’ve smoked tested the intake system via the front of the Turbos, found a split vacuum hose going to the factory boost gauge sender, which I have since replaced.  Also found another leak on the gasket coming off the rear turbo outlet, have also replaced this. After fixing both of these leaks - still have the running rich issue. I’ve also tried another pair of AFM’s - no change here After pulling off the front turbo intake pipes, there is obvious shaft play in the front turbo, which now hisses loudly on light revvs although I can’t see why this would make the car run funny even under idle. I’m curious to know why it’s running rich before I potentially replace/rebuild turbos. The car is completely stock <50,000kms  other than an exhaust. Oil and coolant are all clear. I haven’t bothered with coil packs as it looks like they won’t be the issue due to condition of the plugs. Any help appreciated as I cry myself to sleep!
    • No probs at all. I used to love trying to dig up obscure info for those in need where possible going back 20+ years on SAU.  I did have another look and couldn't come up with any closer match. I'm leaning towards those skirts in your first pic are custom fitments, cut down/extended or from another car entirely and modded to fit an R34 sedan. I would've thought someone in Japan had them and taken a photo at some stage over the last 2 decades but there's nothing. Someone out there must know surely.
    • Welcome mate. Any pics? Even with a DE I'd be well happy if I had that as a 1st car.
