Ironically, none of the F trucks getting around here are cowboy rigs, most have a nice paintjob (for some reason there's 5 or 6 purple and pink ones :S) it's all clapped out WB shitheaps or the new trend of 'cowboying' up a late 90s model Rodeo or Courier.

I've also seen an XF ute with one of those flaps on the end of the exhaust which shuts unless under load, like some trucks have, and I've seen the driver deliberately ramming trolleys in it in carparks late at night, must be practicing for running down roos or something

I saw a sticker on the back of one of these Muppets Utes the other day....it read, "Real Aussies drive Holden Utes"

The sticker was on the back of a Rodeo.... ;)

Last time I checked, Rodeos were made by Holden! They dont just make bommodores y'know :P

A young dude (P-Plater) who works with me has his Rodeo tricked out with 'Stacks'. He said it cost him just under 2 grand to have them installed. I lol'd.

Ill get a pic next time I see it.

lol sick burn.

I've seen a ~20 year old single cab Rodeo mocked up to look like a Prime mover, complete with lights, perspex bug protector over the bonnet, lights, rear view mirrors, stacks, flaps and a turntable on the tray! Wish i had a pic lol. The owner apparently went into a local truck place to see if he could get Jake brakes fitted as well roflmao.

I have also seen a Datsun 1200 ute done up as a B&S rig, I felt sorry for a decent old ute being tarted up like a tawdry middle aged hooker :)

But they have Holden badges yes or no?

Not all Rodeos are Isuzus.

Holden Rodeos are sold by Holden = General Motors (GM) subsidiary company

The Rodeo was built by Isuzu between 1980 and 2008, being replaced by the Holden Colorado.

Other GM Subsidiary Companies are:

GM Isuzu (Japan)

GM Opel (Europe)

GM Vauxhall (England)

All under the GM Umbrella

I think that's how it works..?

Holden dont make anything on there own, they use some else's engine, gear box, diff and styling, now take a look at ford, the 6cyl engine is all aussie, the chassis is all aussie and used as a platform for other models and the body design is all aussie, the v8's are yank but who cares about them anyway xr6t FTW.

probly why Holden build a better car :P

Holden started life as coach builders re-bodying other peoples product, why change after all these years?

They do make a good Daewoo's though, i'll give them that.

Did I just get that arse about?

GM(H)<<< generic marketing.

Even the torana was Albanian..Jk's, It started out as a vauxhall of course.

    • Have a vb in honour of the car comming back
    • It was a great, but typical track day, and some VB was ingested at the night time debrief 🤪
    • And so, to round this out, I couldn't be happier to confirm @MBS206 has decided to buy the car. He drove down from sunny QLD with a trailer last week and it is off to its new home today. I'll let Matt confirm on next steps but I understand broadly that the plan is to leave it pretty much as is, and just get some quality wheel time with a nicely balanced car that is pretty much track ready. There are a few a jobs still to be done first but nothing too major and I think its a very smart buy Dinner last night at the Paragon with a round of VBs (mostly) for Neil
    • Well, 50 pages and the end of a chapter for this car. We took it out for a shakedown at Wakie yesterday, and everything went well. There were a couple of niggles: - Oil cooler fitting leak - tightened, cleaned, stopped leaking - Radiator cap overflow fitting was leaking....Mark called it, the overflow fitting was threaded in and not tight....tightened, tested and held pressure - Small oil leak at the rear of the block, probably the turbo oil feed - too hot to get at it comfortably but probably just needs to be nipped up - leak at the driver's side rear brake line where it meets the hardline. Fitting wasn't loose, so Matt backed it off and back on, no further leaks - there's also a leak somewhere on the top of the fuel tank, maybe that cross over fuel line - that was has been left to fix when its on a hoist Otherwise than those niggles the car went great, turned great and stopped great so it was a very successful day out. I'm always really nervous when a car first hits the track after a long break, especially with a brand new engine as well but it was great. VID-20251011-WA0007.mp4  Big thanks to @The Bogan who dropped by and helped out, @MBS206 and my nephew Lachlan the apprentice.  Neil's wife Mel also surprised the hell out of all of us by dropping by; she's up in Tamworth these days but was travelling to Melbourne so had plausible deniability for turning up at the garage, it was great to see her but also obviously a bit sad all round.
