445rwkw.... wow... just... wow...

now get off SAU an go enjoy yout trip FFS! (and say g'day to cat for me)

wow indeed thats massive for a stock motor... how do you reckon it will cope with it trent?

i went with a 50/50 mix of e85 and bp98 (mainly to avoid upgrading injectors etc) and churned out 360 rwkw on 4 psi less boost and a shitload more timing...pretty good stuff ethanol is :P

Bio E-Flex

eflexcarimage.jpg A new choice in fuel has arrived: Caltex Bio E-Flex, a fuel that contains up to 85% ethanol blended with petrol. Bio E-Flex provides an energy option beyond the traditional fuel mix - something we can all feel good about.

The high renewable ethanol content in Bio E-Flex helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions and our reliance on traditional fossil fuels like petrol, so it's a better choice for the environment and Australia.

The ethanol in Bio E-Flex is made from sources such as waste starch from processing of wheat, molasses from sugar production and sorghum, which is grown for ethanol manufacture and low-grade stock feed. Ethanol is a renewable alternative to traditional fuels which are made from crude oil.

Plants which are used to produce ethanol absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. When the ethanol component of Bio E-Flex is burned in engines, the carbon dioxide released goes into the atmosphere and is used by plants to grow. This "cycling" of carbon creates less build-up of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere than fossil fuels. The emission savings will depend on the plants used, ethanol production processes and freight.

The ethanol in Bio E-Flex helps reduce our dependence on fossil fuels, which improves Australia's energy security through a more diverse supply of transport fuels.

Bio E-Flex is specially formulated to meet your flex fuel car's requirements all year round. Different seasons can change the way fuel performs in your engine, so Caltex will adjust the blend of ethanol from 70 to 85% between seasons to ensure your engine performs correctly.

Bio E-Flex can only be used in flex fuel vehicles, so please consult your vehicle manufacturer if you're unsure about the correct fuel to use in your car.

Bio E-Flex will be available at the following locations in 2010:

we'll just let Trent sort it out when he gets back :/

if you ran an E70 map though, to cover all bases, wouldn't it be too lean then if you actually got E85 from Caltex?

definitely need some clarification from Caltex over this... .might call them tomorrow.

I'm yet to make maps for anything but PULP atm, but will be doing this as soon as it hits the local servo in ACT.

i was thinking of making a full e85 map and also another map somewqhere in between PULP and e85.

What do you guys do when going from PULP to E85 and vice versa? a full tank drain? or just run it very empty and put in the different type of fuel and change maps at the servo?

    • The wiring diagram for the R33 RB25 is freely available, and is essentially the same same as most other RBs (just with differences as to which pin # does which job). To get the ECU to power up, you just need to provide power to the ECCS relay, and have the other power feeds that come in from the top left of the wiring diagram (wrt the ECU) that give perma power to the fuel pump relay, the ECU itself, etc etc, all connected. When you put power on all these it will just come to life. It's pretty clear from the diagram what needs to happen. Just follow the lines from the 12V + supply stuff in the top left over towards the ECU. I've even posted snips of such diagrams (not for vanilla 25, I think for Neo and 26) to various threads here in the last few months, talking about what it takes to get the fuel pump and FPCM up and going. Search these up and they will help get you started on doing the same with the vanilla 25 diagram. Hell, for all I know, I've done the same with that one in years past and have forgotten.
    • Yep...so unless someone posts up the answer you will need to probe from the ECU connector to the dash plug with a multi meter in continuity mode to trace the wires.  Note the ECU has multiple - and + (and across different key settings - Battery, IGN and Start) and most likely the power is fed from the connector(s) that is normally near the left hand headlight.
    • Thanks Duncan, I am actually just trying to get the Rb turning and running with the RB25DET S2 original loom itself  I am just trying to get it going outside the body and not thinking about the S15 or trying to match anything to the S15 loom at all I am only trying to see if anyone has done this and what pin they found to be the ignition trigger and ECU+/- on the dash connector, that's about it. Thanks
    • Hi Guys, Does anyone know any aftermarket part numbers for a starter motor to suit the VQ25DET? I can find lots of alternative part number for the VQ35DE, which I assume would fit, but there is a lot of conflicting information out there. Thanks..
    • I don't understand how this hasn't boiled down to - Upgrade the turbo when you have everything required. ECU, injectors, fuel pump, turbo, etc. Do it all at once.  If you don't have everything required, just enjoy the car as it is and keep saving up your pennies.
