ok GMS got back to me and told me $1100 for the ECU

i laughed to myself and politely declined his offer

Bah, they know where they can shove that, we should buy the front end from GMS lol.

Whoever brought the black one would be up the creek then :)

I'm waiting to hear back but I found a place with an ECU, I asked for a VQ25DET one and they said yes we have one but then went on to say it's a VQ25DE ECU.

There are no VQ25DE's in the country except for the new release Nissan Maxima is there?

Anyway, I emailed them back seeking confirmation so I'll hopefully hear shortly.

i cant help with gms at the moment..

can anyone make sence of this guy?

is he using a fcon is? or teps computer? because fcon is is pretty cheap from Nz atm.. 600 or so.. but then mapping/loom or whatever have been done here..

and then onto not many tuners. but sydney folk will be fine. brisbane folk and wa

TEPS re-mapped ECU with F-CON iS managing it.

Don't see why you would get a re-map then put a piggyback on it.

F-CON would be great and it has a dedicated VQ25DET AWD Auto loom available, but no tuners in VIC for it *tear*

Another disappointment, ECU has been checked and confirmed it belongs to a VQ25DD

So the search for the correct ECU resumes, d'oh!.

I've been told from the local fcon tuner, that they dont make a fcon Is for M35.. so there may be something else going on behind the scenes here.

he's told me to buy a fcon IS for a nissan. i can get cheap 600or so from performance guru in the Nz.. tho he only has mitsu and subi at this price..

and get the loom form fconvpro from wherever for m35..

he said there will be more mapping since there is no m35 supported with the fcon IS

Has anyone had any success with the tuning of the vq25det yet?

I recently tried to buy a GZONE one off IM with no luck turns out my engrish is no good as i couldnt see where it said exchange item only. IM were good looked after me with a refund.

Keen to know what proven options there are?

Yes.

1x Haltech Interceptor (Jetwreck) which is NO GOOD for the vq25det and 1x eManage Ultimate (Scotty nm35) which IS good for the vq25det

You can also go with an HKS FCON as it has a harness for the vq25det.... just have to find a tuner

Thanks for the reply mate. This thread is a little old i know.

Has anyone in sydney had success and where and with what?

Yeh thanks i got that info the first time. Trust me i did use the search button several times over many months. It seems the info is old and somewhat inconclusive. I know someone had success with the Greddy ecu. The tuner was in melbourne. Not very convenient for me as i am located in Sydney. Some time as passed since these post so i hope some one has had some success with the tuning that they can share.

haha, I was just pointing out that Jetwreck is in Sydney.

eManage was tuned by etuner who has done a very nice job of it.

There is an ECU re-flash in the works which should be good to go quite soon I believe but no, no other tuned M35's at the moment I am afraid.

Cihan does head up that way occasionally, just needs a 4 wheel dyno to work at.

You could have sent your ecu over and still gotten the GZone. Thats what I was planning until I decided to go cable throttle.

The Emanage ultimate works great and has full control, other than the throttle, variable cam timing and transmission shift times.

Thanks for the info guys. Iamhe77 sorry mate didnt mean to be a smart ass. I just wanted people who have tuned there vq25det to chime in to share experiences and update this thread with some new info.

Scotty i did consider that but it would of taken too much time to do that. My missus needs the car to get the kids around.

You list a couple of negatives about the e manage. Do you think the remap will be the better option????

I read that silverwater auto were going to do one did anyone follow through with that?????

I have approached my tuner who tuned my 600hp supra. But he will charge like a wounded bull and want the car for 2-3 weeks. Also he hasnt tuned one before so who knows what obstacles he will come across.

I dont want to go into this blind if you know what i mean

I will contact SAS tomorrow see where they are up to with it.

I have FMIC

3inch ss exhaust turbo back

hi flow turbo steel wheeled and larger wheels

CDA airbox

boost controller

coilovers and camber kit

There isnt much else left for me to do just tune it.

I will do a thread on the car as soon as i am done modifying it

For sure a remap is the way to go, just not sure yet what the sas guys are going to play with. There are a lot of issues I have with the stock ecu, throttle being the major one, also the gearshift commands. Engine tuning is the easy part.

I think a Mines ecu would probably be worth the 2k asking price(if i had the cash) but I would still need some way of tuning it myself like emanage.

Mines is a bit too expensive and it wont be customized to your set up and ozy fuel.

I will speak to sas today.

Some one pm'd me re camber kit. It was from A&B motorsport brookevale. The car hasnt been on the dyno since most of the mods so i dont know what its making. It wont see a dyno again till the tune gets done.

i wonder how long it would take to get the ECU from aus to japan and back again after a remap?

i hardly drive the M35 these days and it might sit in the garage for a month between drives

Give it a minimum of 3 weeks

You should do it Iain, I could even trial it for you for a while if you like. :(

    • So.... the K&N air box thingo was too big, ended up gifting it to a mate, well, by gifting it he actually supplied food and beer at the pub,  which was nice, as it will not sit on a shelf in the garage for the next 10 years I did trim up some of the existing stuff to neaten it all up and gave it some wrinkle paint, unfortunately it currently has a used and abused mish mash of different types of hose clamps, 4 big fat T bolt type (shit), and a few normal clamps of vairing sizes and brands, but..... only until the 6 constant tension black worm clamps that I ordered from EFI solutions turn up next week Currently the current hose clamps are triggering me hard, LOL Is this the final version, probably not, I really want just 2 silicone pieces, a straight bit of silicone from the filter to the MAF is easy and will happen as soon as I head into Just Jap tomorrow, the problematic part is a 30° silicone bend from the MAF to the TB that I can connect the engine breather from the head, I found that there are bulk head fittings for boat bilge pumps that should work, but until I can get a 30° silicone bend the alloy pipe, and the 11ty thousand hose clamps, are there for the foreseeable future 4 hose clamps are golden, 6 are grudgingly acceptable, the 8 currently holding it all together is just taking the piss    I've also ordered 60 more retaining wall blocks for the front yard, I mis-gonculated the height that was required to get above the base of the Photinia's (red robin's) that are the hedge behind the front fence, currently it is 2 blocks high, and about 1/2 a block short, so going 3 blocks high will be above the base of the red robin's, and allow some room for mulch
    • It is the stock air box with the panel filter. Everything else is stock except the exhaust at this point, as I also went back to the cleaned 270cc injectors. I will check the RPM when the IACV is unplugged and report back.
    • As MBS suggested if this is happening when the engine is cold you're going to want to remove the intake air regulator and verify resistance + that the shutter is physically opening and closing. At -20C should be fully open, 20C half open, over 60C fully closed. At 20C should be 70-80 ohms. For AAC valve testing using a Consult cable see if you can raise and lower the idle by commanding more or less AAC duty cycle. Hopefully it's pretty linear as well, shouldn't be like 30% AAC valve is barely idling and 40% is 1500 rpm.
