they are different, hence the requirement for a spacer in the rear fork of an M35 when using the BC coilovers, as i believe they use the same rear strut for both kits. no biggie, thanks to dale who supplied some large washers to make up the gap!

Wicked, this opens up more options then..

Daiyama and Tanabe are a fair bit cheaper than BC, but only made for Z33

Cheaper but is the Quality as good as BC's, for $1299~ shipped, I think they have the most comfortable ride I have ever witnessed. After I tune I think I know whats next :)

setting the dampers on mine on its softest setting, it was a tiny bit firmer than stock, very nice though!

i like it a little hardcore than that, so i clicked it over four times :P

nice, the time will come when i shall invest in some BC's,

I reckon the car feels abit better when the dampers are a little higher, not rediculous though, just enough... but can understand those with wife and kids that would complaint.

ooooooook so do we agree that after market coilovers made for V35/Z33 will fit into an M35 provided a spacer is used?

well, i dont have V35 coilovers in, the fronts are totally different.

i have a kit for M35 4WD, its just the rears are almost the same as a V35. DONT buy V35 coilovers and expect them to fit, unless you have a PM35 RWD

Can someone here advise if it will be all right if I purchase the lowered springs on IM only? I'm trying to find a cheap sollution instead of buying the whole kit at once.....

Has anyone done this? which springs were used?

Cheapest way out is an angle grinder. :devil:

My suggestion is to wait and save up for some BC's as your shocks are surely on their way out by now anyway.

If you really want to waste your cash, try King springs, they make a set for the v35/350z which should fit but may be a little low for speed humps etc, mainly due to our long wheelbase. You may be able to ask for slightly firmer rear springs.

Far better to buy a full kit as the struts give the stability to your suspension (particularly regarding rebound).

Unless you want to be lower to the ground and still bounce like a yo-yo :P

Yahoo is a great place to buy used and new stuff for our M35's and Aaron and the guys at Import Monster can certainly be trusted with your purchases.

I bought my Nismo's (among many other things) through them. Easy, great service and you can see the price breakdown before purchasing :thumbsup:

I just bought a white Stagea like yours in Japan and it's on the boat at the moment... it has 74K genuine kms... car used to be owned by a family hopefully suspension will be tidy....

quite keen to do wheels, suspension, exhaust... but I guess i'll take it easy otherwise I'm in trouble with my wife....

You seemed one of the most experienced and knowledgeable here therefore I was wondering if you could get back to me with few answer.... Sorry it's not related to suspension...

I'm about to take my car for compliance at Northshore Prestige any advice? Should I check transmission fluid? How much am I looking at for a custom made exhaust system?

Fabio, my Stagea was complied by Northshore 4 years ago and I have seen the results on a few other M35's. They do an awesome job, can't really fault them at all. Oh, and they do the cleanest job with the rear anchor/restraint points that I have seen (no leaking for reckless hole drilling).

Ive heard Northshore do one of the cleanest compliance jobs, unfortunately mine wasn't done by them. Cam, I have worked out it was the silicone blocking the drain lip that caused the water ingress, all fixed. :)

Get on Import Monster and look for a cat back system, I can make a dump for around $450 but you will need to get the front pipe made up locally (unless you come to Melbourne).

All fluids are supposed to be changed at compliance, make sure whoever does it uses the Nissan matic J fluid or Nulon synthetic, you cant use dextron 3.

For suspension look closely at the BC's. Great value for money.

    • Wife wanted basket things in the wardrobe in our temporary house. Thought about ripping our the wardrobe and fitting the entire IKEA set, but it's a temporary house and we want to move in a few years. So IKEA advertises this as a 50cm unit, however the actually basket and rails measure 46cm wide. Only issue was depth, IKEA stuff is quite deep, where as the builder special junk is super shallow at less than 40cm. Send it, chopped the rails, then offset the mounting holes, job done, happy wife, less shit scattered all over the bedroom. Did the same to the other side too. Also drove the Skyline shit box today, dropped off oil at Supercheap Auto. I didn't realise they only now take max 2x bottles per visit. I visited 2x Supercheap Autos.  
    • I've seen similar actually in my situation. You never know what tables are attempted to be used when the car thinks it's -99C or +200C. The fail state is not usually that extreme but you know what I mean - it was in my case though! This is where being able to read all the sensors is useful cause you see this stuff really quickly.
    • The above is very important. However as long as you keep timing relatively low, it's plausible to make your own knock ears and plausible to learn to tune with a modern ECU that can do wideband O2 correction like a boost controller. I mean if you only have one viable road to even drive the car on, learning to tinker to this level may be worth doing given you can't do much else with the car...?
    • I find the fact that the rear plate has to be bent inwards at the rear not so bad: but the front is just awful: It's like come on. (these are my very old, now retired/turned in plates) TBH it is a lot of money to fix a minor issue, the fact I said "I'll never really spend the money on doing this" is why people ended up buying them as a gift for a 'car guy' who can be hard to shop for.. for car guy things.
    • I just bent the ends of my premo plates. It even went through Regency like that after the engine conversion and the inspector (a great bloke!) just squinted his eyes and said "I didn't see that". Plates, and how they look, are just something that have zero importance to me.
