A massive UBER thanks from me to all involved in putting the day together and marshalling. You guys are the reason I still hang around in my 4 door GTR. you guys rock!! Oh.... and I guess because I'm keeping my seat warm here for the day I return to the nissan logo...

BLK180 probably spun a big end bearing from the sounds. He might be able to give you a better answer tomorrow when he's awake. Damn FEAR. I FEAR owning a car as expensive and sexy as that car.

Oh, Eug, get off that UBER vodka, or share some around :P

Lets get those photos rolling!

Thanks again!

George my mate!

All good buddy!

glad you had fun and yeah, Im stoked I could take you for a hot lap!

Its not really about balls, its more time in the seat!

Once you have a done a few more driver days, you'll be quicker and ballsier!! (ballsier a word? is now!!)

It comes with time and practice mate, the main thing is you were out there, you had a ball, you learnt more lines and skills, AND you drove home!

And in fact, I dont think I saw you without a grin on your face the whole day, to me and many others, thats all that matters mate!

I think you did great in the EVO!

Get rid of those tyres that are on there now, get some r888's or similar, and you wont beleive how much more grip you have!

Demon, I don't think there was much difference between our times and i had some dirty semi's on. As chubby said, it's about enjoying the day :P Which it seems you did. Lap times will come down with experience. If you get out there, have a great time and get to drive it home safely... count it as FTW!

Yep big thanks to everyone who help on the day and to make it happen. I had a fun day for the most part.I got towed home, time to kick back and enjoy another rebuild lol. i got 277 photos will try edit some and get them up tomorrow as i got work in 5 hours.

Thanks mate. Sad to hear. Very sorry we left you out there for that long. At first I thought you were just hanging out with the flaggy bt then I just forgot.

Track day was awesome! ;)

I would like to thank the organisers and Chubbs for stepping into my car to show me some bad habits :P

I had my camera there today and should have some photos up during the week. Hell, I still have photos from my OP GP day on Monday to sort out :P

Also, I have found semis + daily driven for 2 months + weekly Coastie cruise + 3 track days = Semis that aren't quite down the the wear indicators

Bed tiem naow :D

Damn it Brad!!! How many engines now?

Give me your engine and I'll build it just like my 26, in my tiny shed!!!.....bulletproof style!

I also had a ball today, and the LOLwagon performed really well, so I'm stoked!

Getting the right lines for turn two was annoying, as the track felt (to me) to be off-camber, and the apex is really late. The rest of the track, I absolutely LOVED, especially the flip-flop heading onto the last corner before the straight.

Thanks to the SAU-NSW crew and the guys from TrackSkill for today!

Thanks to the organisers for another great day, whilst the driver briefing was extremely painful the way the sessions were kept to time was well run.

Once again my little car didn't like starting in the cold, but once we clutch started it the rest of the day was faultless. The tyres were fine, brakes were strong and the engine didnt miss an rpm all day.

I understand now why so many people are angry that Oran Park is being bulldozed. The track is extremely unique with nearly every turn having some form of camber and up or down slope making it quite interesting for my little car being so light.

I started off quite slow in the first session and got quicker as my balls grew bigger. More time in the seat and a fresh set of rubber and i'll push harder again.

Had an awesome day !! I forgot just how much fun OPGP could be ! Loved every part of the track except the straight ( damn N/A ). Huge thanks to the organizers and club execs for the subsidised event ;)

Great to see all the usual faces and meet some newbies. SO many of the newbies have just become track addicts lol....

Standouts for the day had to be ( in no particular order ) Chris ( MX5 ), Adam ( R34 ), Dunc ( Hairdresser spec Z ) and whoever was driving that blue / purple EVO for their relentless attempts to tag every ripple strip on the track at full noise. Plus that 8 iron powered 32 ( merli ? ) that sounded and went so well

Cheers to Nick ( GoldZilla ) for the limo service. I could get used to that !

Can't believe I did so well to keep up with everyone ( except for the straight ) while bubbleguming the tyres and getting brake fade, and still keep my car on the black stuff all fat and happy only to do the following while putting the car to bed at home.

This pic looks like I was actually in the game on the straight

Agian, huge thanks to all who made it such a great day ! It "was" going to be my last play on OPGP........... :P

Dry sump it Brad!!

So from a whole skyline day there was two engine failures (mine just split an oil line) and they both involved bearings. Thats not to bad considereing how many were there.

I feel your pain though guys as can Duncan im sure..

And duncan hit a milestone turning point yesterday by not breaking a GTR he drove on a race track!

You let someone drive your car who measures the success of their car by how many kms it goes for and has a current record of sixty-something kays?

Brave!

Blue EVO was driven by Daniel Caprar... An old racer from way back (Used to have an R33 GTR). Very talented driver, who isn't afraid of smashing ripple strips to chase those laptimes ;) Not sure if he posts on SAU...

My car didn't make it (drivetrain gremlins sabotaged my day), so I was puttering around in the red BMW... Yellow LS1 R32 was Stuart from Wollongong. Absolutely IMMACULATE car. I'm very impressed :P

I believe that SAU have booked another OP day in October. Hopefully we have GP layout again. Much more fun than South Circuit...

thats actually one of your better angles too fatz

my day would have been better had the passenger airbag no deployed through my windscreen :P LOL

I saw that as you drove off!

How'd that happen? Hit a bump?

    • So, now all you need to do is connect the 2 or 3x 12v feeds into the unit to permanent 12v, ACC 12V and IGN 12V that you can find in the spot behind the stereo, and the earth, and then it will switch on with the car.
    • Yes then it will turn on but I want the car features to work
    • My thought is if you were just moving it forward and the upstream geometry remained the same, then no difference at all. But because the current one has the filter direct into the AFM inlet, you effectively have the best chance of a completely symmetric air flow profile upstream, and in, the AFM, whilst the aftermarket inlet thingo has a (small, to be sure) bend between the filter and the AFM. That would bias the flow to the outside of the bend (downstream of the bend) which might well reduce the size of the signal seen by the AFM, for the same total flow rate. Having said that: If you're proposing to make your inlet look like a hybrid of your existing one and the aftermarket one, such that there is no bend where the filter is clamped on... then I say it will be just fine. If there is going to be such a bend, then, if you can align the insertion of the AFM blade such that it is at right angles to the plane of the bend, then there is a better than even chance that the centreline velocity where the blade is will remain more or less the same, and the velocity will just be a little faster to the outside of that, and just a little slower to the inside. **This is not professional investment advice and you should consult a suitably qualified ouija board, tea leaves or the intestines of a goat for more accurate prognostication.
    • Hi Tao, Thanks for your reply.  It's been a while and I managed to get the valve stem seals replaced with the head on the car.  Unfortunately this didn't solve my issue, the car still smokes a lot after idling (to be honest during idle you can see a bit of blue smoke from the exhaust), same after deceleration. I will try disconnecting the valve cover breathers, do I leave the PCV valve in? By engine oil drain pipe, do you mean the turbo oil drain?
    • What about if you just give it direct 12v and earth?
