in my old job one of our customers had BP-001 or something along those lines which were his initials

apparently was being offered 10,000+ from a BP bigwig for them at the time :P

I'm gonna register KFC-001 lol

I used to own [sPOOL] on my s15, was surprised it was avaliable at the time but when i tried to sell it; didnt even get an offer so i jst sold them with the car.

another r34 gtr in my area had [GTR-01] which he bought off a torana i think....did they have a gtr model?

I really would love to have the plates [JOHNNY] which i saw on a red c4 corvette 4 years ago but im sure it would fetch a pretty penny.

Hey Johnny, I saw an exact same yellow S15 around Campsie with "KEEPUP" plates. Gold!

buying personalised plates are actually a pretty clever way to lower yr tax...

as long as u can convince the tax man that it relates to yr business then u can claim a pretty handy deduction... lower yr tax and have some pretty cool plates :down:

pretty sure that's how all the big $$$ plates would be bought... the ones that run into the tens of thousands...u'd be absolutely stupid to pay for em out of yr out pocket

A friend had "69" on his Ferrari got offered 400k+ to sell em. I don't believe he sold.

Haven't seem him for a few years wonder if he still has it.

I bought UNR34L about 8 months ago as I was looking at getting an R34.

Almost straight away I had a several offers of around $800-1000.

I didn't take any because a) I thought I could get more, and b) I still wanted them for myself.

Then the economic crisis arrived, and I ended up buying a Supra. Tried to sell them for months at $800, but no one was interested. Finally let them go recently for $600 as I was just stick of hanging onto them.

Plates are tricky things to sell, I thought mine were unique, clever and would easily get $1500 (price I would've let them go at prior to buying the Supra). You have to find the right buyer, and that's hard. Especially in the current climate.

Why is NSW so bad at doing some things. I love the way you guys in Vic have it that you actually own the number plate.

yeah it's grouse down here.. we have hardly any speed cameras / TMU nazis :down:

Personalised HR32NA here in NSW :rofl: Just ordererd it a couple of months before they took the white plates away in NSW, which I think look the nicest.

Pretty self-explanatory meaning for Skyline owners/enthusiasts but doesn't mean shit all to regular drivers (which I like :) )

I had MI11NT (Mint) before, and just handed them back to the RTA when I got the HR32NA ones, but a couple of weeks ago my mate said to me 'you should have sold them', but it never really occured to me because I really didn't think people paid much for number plates. Afterall, it was only personalised.

Good personalised numberplates do indeed sell for large sums of money. Problem is, 90% of numberplates for sale were bought by arrogant toffees from their RTA thinking they could make a penny on being the first one to come up with it. There are some absolute shockers on eBay. Some of the worst I have seen are BL-1942 (Bruce Lee, born 1942) which was asking $5000, and LEXUAL (Lexus and sexual spliced, go figure) for $10,000. I don't see the point to numberplates that state what the car is...unless it's a very unique, not easily identifiable car (or a classic). It's just pointless when you see RED-XR6 on a car that most people with eyeballs can see is a Red XR6.

My grandmother's numberplates "365" sold here in Victoria for an upper range 5 digit figure. They were on an old Mercedes worth 1/5th of that (owned from new though).

Totally agree.

It's always amusing to see a guy in a BMW with a plate stating the same, when it's quite obvious to even the most ignorant observer.

Why pay good money to communicate a message that the badge on the back of your car already has?

haha, me and the missus were discussing that when in the city over the weekend... we decided we either wanted the plates "NOTCAR" or something like "BIKE" just to confuse those people :angry:

      I thought I'd do a write up on an auto transmission fluid change for a the nissan 7 speed Automatic. At some stage the genius engineers decided that the fluid in the trans was "for the life of the transmission", (which seems kind of self supporting to me) and removed the dip stick and fill tube (funnily enough there is still a casting for it). Anyway, for this job you do need 2 specialist tools in addition to regular hand tools, jack and good chassis stands. You need a way to pump fluid up to the transmission; I got one of these but there are plenty of other options: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/364584087070 Don't trust the generic listing though, it does not come with the required adapter for the Nissan 7 Speed. Could be Nissan, could be anything else rated for Nissan Matic S. You need at least 10 litres, I had 15 to give it a better flush...       So I mentioned the apprentice, @LachyK helped take the bonnet off. We just undid the nuts on the hinges and unclipped the gas struts, then pulled the bonnet back a little as the front was catching on the front bar.  I had a good look at everything today and have removed the rams, repaired/reset the hinges and bolted it back together like it never happened. I'll do a separate write up on the repair, and I also removed the poppers from the Fuga today too to save grief down the road.....as said above it is at least $5k to repair retail. I'm also happier about my ability to prepare a race car, and less happy about Nis-nault's engineering (I can hear @GTSBoy sAfrican Americaning) because the top hose of the radiator didn't slip off.......it snapped clean off. By practice I put the hose clamp hard up against the flare on a neck to make it least likely to ever move (thanks @Neil!). I guess that puts a little more pressure on the end of the pipe as it is further away from the rad, but still, that is pretty shit. I've put it back on for now as there was a fair bit of neck still there, but obviously there is no lip on the neck any more so I don't think I'll track it again until I have a new rad. Speaking of which....more research required. It looks like Koyo makes a standard size radiator in ally which I'll grab in the meantime, but I really want something thicker so might have to go custom in the medium term (ouch) Coolant still needs a refill and I have the pressure tester on it over night, but other than a wash down of the engine bay it seems alright. And @MBS206 noted something noisy on the front of the engine and I think I agree....time for a new accessory belt and tensioners I think.
