I'm not sure if this is a direct dig at me, but if it is, I don't appreciate it. I've had my car since '03, it's seen a lot of hard driving and some track work and I'd never put a scratch on it prior to this. I don't think I was driving beyond my limits, I wasn't even giving it my all. The car did something I wasn't expecting and I couldn't regain control once it had. Shit happens.

There is plenty to hit if you go off; trees, poles and mounds of dirt don't have a habit of moving out of your way. It was a minor accident, I don't think it will effect any future events.

For all of you who have any questions on how to drive fast

how much your engine can take and what sort of turbo setup you should have on your car..

Direct your questions towards the expert... Birds...

I would genuinely like to know where you get your knowledge from..

Are you a mechanic? or a racing car driver? or a pimply computer nerd?

All I can say mate is there are some people out there who have done 15+ DECA's

compared to your 1 or 2... i'd say they would have a better idea of what they are doing...

(Also let it be known that I have done only 2 DECA's, and don't consider my self to be a good driver at all)

But i am happy to be proven wrong... the results will be up soon...

Mate, there's no need for that sort of stuff...we're having a sensible discussion here...why begin on the personal insults? It's not like I've gone and said "your launches suck, drive better". I'm offering constructive criticism here. If you have some for me, or any tips on how I can improve my driving with some rationale to back it...I'm listening and I welcome it. But to answer your questions: yes, half-yes and no. I currently work for a mechanical engineering workshop that specialises in drivetrains - so yes, I do know what breaks a car and how to get the most out of your drivetrain when it comes to performance and the physics behind it. My current boss and his friends have been racing for years at state and national levels in production car categories including the Bathurst 24 Hour races and Targa Tasmania. He also used to teach advanced driving courses. This knowledge comes straight to me because I'm pretty open minded about learning and I ask more questions than I give answers.

I don't care if someone's done 50 DECAs - it's quality over quantity that matters here. If you spend your 50 DECAs spinning the wheels for 10 metres on a launch then what have you learnt? Try to tell me that this much wheelspin will benefit you in the launch at the start of the cone course and I will happily tell you what you can do with your DECA experience...with the logic to back it up. The results from DECA mean SFA beyond comparison to your own existing times, considering we have 45 different cars with a hundred different variables affecting times. Take for instance the success of certain naturally aspirated vehicles against turbocharged ones. Not only this, but consider that I may not be able to demonstrate the knowledge I'm presenting here with my own abilities on the track/skidpan...that doesn't mean I'm incorrect, just uncoordinated. Never said I was a good driver. If we could all do as we say we'd probably be better at alot of things we do. And how about the possibility that I might be really good at launching a car but when it comes to steering side of things I might be pants? That could definitely swing DECA results...

anyone who can punt a farkin Corona around (no offence, its awesome) like you do has to have a bit of skill... I have driven a stock one before and it was... umm.. terrible! lol

whether trying for times or just having fun... @ Deca go hard or go home!* :D

* preferably not on the back of a flat bed truck

All i can say is.. advice was given to you from me and others...

alot of people come to deca's and say, why is everyone hitting the limiter so much and wheel spinning...

We were simply explaining that some times it IS more benificial to hold it on the limiter instead of changing gears..

and it IS more benificial to wheel spin off the line to get the boost up...

Yes i agree with you that excessive wheelspin off the line is just for show and not for going fast..

But this is not we are talking about...

Advice was given... you came back and told me and the others that we are doing it wrong..

You didn't listen and you didn't welcome our advice...

I respect what you do, and who you have contacts with..

But IMO nothing can teach you about driving as much as actually doing it...

You could be best mates with michael Schumacer,

but unless you get out on the track... you don't really know how to race a car...

We could argue for hours about this with no result...

As many people have said.. DECA is about the fun...

I can honestly say that the two DECA's i have done, I have not tried to get good times...

Its just a great big hoot...

      Yeah, its good to see at least I have OK pressure. Theres also zero other symptoms so if the next analysis comes back similar, I'll get the bearings done I think. Just sucks because turbos and oil pan gasket were just done and he's going to need to pull all that out again.  At this stage I'm just hoping I see no lead in the next analysis and I can chalk it up to the additive in the oil to soften my valve stem seals.

      'sif not just put a turbo on it! VQ35+ 10 psi of boost would make more power than you want and much much much much much better torque than the 25.

      A lot of bmw need big end bearings as often as other cars need timing belts, the v10 and v8 from the m5 and m3 around the e90 era were bad for it

      Near 12mths since the last update apologies.  Car is back running and driving.  Have had a few runs at the drag strip also with a bit of success.  Managed to run tje cars PB with a 10.88 @139mph with a 2.0 60ft.  I have a stock 8hp converter and it's definitely too tight for my setup. But it drives on the street phenomenal. So happy to have converted from the sequential. Has made the car enjoyable to drive vs a what felt like a chore with the sequential.  Looking a at few different options for converters waiting for some feedback from SDE if he can do one for me.  Still a few minor things to work out regarding finalising torque reduction, I have it working but needs to refining.

      I honestly wouldn’t bother with this. They don’t hold up under any serious strain. Get the Blackline (Chinese fake Quaife) if anything, as it’s reported to perform pretty well.
