This thread is a quick outline of what i got for the money and where i got to down the strip. Car is a low km R33 GT-R V-spec with a really big guy driving it!(Read fatty lol)

1: Par 1-4 S/C sync G/box. $5745

2: 600cc Nismo drop in injectors and nismo upgrade fuel pump (second hand albiet in good working order) $920

3: Vi-Pec Plug in ECU(the one that fits into the stock ecu box, internal 2.5 bar map) $1650

4: Tune (god this was hard to organise in a regional area) $475

5: Hi-Flowed standard Turbochargers( these were only 70k old so i figured rebuild to -5 specs) $1600

6: Adjustable cam gears $499

7: Random spares(ie. vac. hose, gaskets, general consumables) $300

Stockish run(up-pipes and 3.5" exhaust, K&N panel filter) stock boost ect. 12.58

be interested to know how they work out

Well, the turbo's are off, the box is out and on its way to the builder and my hands look like they have been through a god dam mincer, OHMAGAWD the turbo's are a bitch of a thing to get out, im dreading the installation process something fierce! Now, the Vi-Pec goes in! See u all in an hour or 2!

just a word of advice with the ### gear sets get that box in there as quick as you can and make shaw it is good i got one of there gear sets in my r33 gtr and it was far from good when i put it back in wouldnt hold gears had heaps of problems getting fixed as it was out of waranty after i got my car back on the road in the end i ended up taking it to another work shop and got it rebuilt to make it right cost me an extra 1000 on top to get right just be careful

Quick update guys. Nismo Fuel pump is in, Injectors are in, did new front brakes and rotors while i was at it (thanks QFM!) new TPS and im currently getting the exhaust manifolds port matched to the head and turbines, there pretty messy from stock. Now, do i do the dumps or are the 33 dumps good enough? Just that the turbo's are off and ill be fracked if i wanna do that again!

Cheers, Allan

Updates!!

Recieved the gearbox today!

Injectors in

Fuel pump in

Vi-Pec in

Cam gears in

Gearbox *shudder* waiting.

Now i have gone a little over budget here guys. After a good hard chat with a few people and forecasting the possibility of future modifications i have decided to buy a new set of -5's. I was told standard turbo's could be modded to -5 specs, but as its been pointed out, rear housings are different. They can be modded to make near similar power as a dash 5 but geez you would be flogging the batshit outta them. The Bill so far!

Gearbox: $5745

Vi-Pec: $1650

Pump and Injectors: $920

Turbochargers: $2450

100k Service kit: $420

TPS: $120

Gasket Kit: $240

Consumables: $300

HKS Dumps: $280

Total so far: $11705.00

Still to come: Tune up, AFM deletion pipes, Intercooler Hard Pipe Kit. It seems 10g just wasnt enough!! If only i didnt have to do a box!

So, at the end of the day, im hoping to get away with approx 13k to get where i want to go. One day ill figure out how to post god dam photos on the intrawebs and ill show you all something you have all seen before, a GTR in pieces!!

People to thank so far: Jim Berry, Andrew Sullivan aka Kudos Motorsports, Dori34, Ray Hall Turbocharging, PAR engineering, Just Jap Racing and my wife who now hates me, baaaaad.

PS> any ideas for AFM deletion pipes?? the cheap way, im pretty handy with steel :P

Cheers, Allan

    • It's funny, as Ive seen plenty of people use them in cheap builds on YT. And they actually go okay, even though a lot of other maxspeedingrods stuff is terrible. Those turbos seem reliable enough, the only part being, a good quality turbo that is "identical" to it, will out perform it day in and day out. In both a lower boost threshold, and the ability to flow more air at the same boost pressure. As a cheap cheap replacement, not a terrible choice. For cheap and shouldn't blow in a day, not terrible (like other eBay/Temu turbos) for low cost and still decent performance, that's where the question comes in to play from the results I've seen. I'd actually find it hilarious to buy one, and strap it to a paddock basher or some other cheap as POS originally NA car, and send it to the moon!
    • The maxpeedingrods turbo is cheap and bolts on to stock parts. I think you just need a bigger silicone coupler for the intake. Its a cheap china turbo, but it's been running on mine for almost 3 years at 16-19 psi.
    • What do they look like right after you've tried to start it with everything connected? Also post photos of what they actually look like.
