Well today was the big day! I had spoken to Michael kuzilny from MK Law who referred me to a lawyer named Charles Gidley. I was charged with

1- dangerous driving

2- loss of traction

3- carless driving

4- improper hook turn

before I went into court my lawyer talked to the police prosecutor and dangerous driving as well as loss of traction was dropped. (minimum sentence for dangerous is 6 month license loss)

I pleaded guilty to careless and improper hook turn and received a $500 fine. All in all I think the magistrate saw it from my point of view and i'm extremely happy with the outcome to not have lost my license. The whole thing stunk from the beginning and I think it is fair. Although why was my car impounded even though the traction charge was dropped which was the only reason they had to impound it, I'm not sure although all in all can't complain and am very happy about the outcome and glad it's all over!!!

Oh if anyone wants this lawyers number happy to PM you it, he was fantastic and absolutely worth the 1600 to keep my license and only get a fine!!

Did you ask him about following up on the impound?

RE: costs and so-on?

Although i suspect he'd say just to let that go (given a similar situation i was in years ago w/regard to mass charges dropped)

I only thought about it after although I'm guessing legally it would be viable, because the 2 charges relating to the impound were dropped in other words rubbish, but the costs would out weigh the $300 impound fee plus i'm really pleased with the outcome so I'll just let it go and be done with it I guess.

I would expect that because you plead guilty to charges relating to the incident that you couldn't complain about it being impounded or costs. This is why we put as many charges on as possible on brief as this happens in most cases charges are dropped and lesser one's plead guilty to or they plea to the main charge and and rest of the smaller charges are dropped.

The careless driving would cover the manner in which vehicle was driven anyway. Loss of traction would be covered by that and thus cover the impound.

Good result for you in end as full contest probably would have ended up much worse for you. Possibly same charges held up but most likely bigger fine and loss of license.

Why did Michael refer you to someone else? Was he busy? I had him represent me in court for riding a motorbike while my car licence was suspended and smacking a guys mirror off his car and he got me off with a fine (albeit a big one) but atleast i didn't get time added onto my 1 year suspension lol. Good outcome for you, losing a licence is the biggest life f**k in the world :P

Second to killing someone on the road I'm sure :ermm:

Lol off your high horse mate, winning brownie points by being righteous on the internet doesn't make you superior. You are just lucky you haven't been caught speeding yet, unlike myself. BTW my chances of killing someone late at night on a freeway are slim to none (other than myself)

This attitude is why retards like you and every other kid dies. Yeah sure it may be slim, or you may THINK it's slim. It only needs to happen once...

Only need to get close to a shark once before you die. Chances of that happening? I swim at the beach more then i speed :ermm: Oh and if you can't see a car ahead of you on the freeway you shouldn't be driving, get your eyes checked. Also retards like you should know that speeding in itself not the leading cause of deaths on the road. In most speed related deaths there is alcohol and/or drugs involved, not to mention nodding off at the wheel accounts for about 20% of deaths. Also as for 'kids' not getting it and dying, 70+ year olds account for 15.2% of the road toll in vic, 40-49 year olds 14.1%, 50-29 12.1%, 30-39 14.8%. As for the 'kids' the worst is 18-20 year olds at 12.4% 21-25 9% and 26-29 6.6%.Out of every 10k cars there are 0.71 fatal casualties, per 100k pop there's 5.30. Most deaths in Victoria are in the country and i for the life of me can't find any info on deaths which were a cause of outright speed, hell there are no stats on the site for speed related deaths yet there is for a higher than .05 BAC and they gave the % for people who fell asleep at the wheel and a large majority of death's on the road have shown that they weren't wearing seatbelts. 4x more people die of falls then motor vehicle accidents (including cyclists, pedestrians and motorbikes) 5,443,228 people in victoria in 2009 and there were 209 deaths. The road toal aint all it's being made out to be my friend.

Not saying speeding doesn't kill, it does but it's not as much as your ACA or TT brain is being told. Me speeding on a FWY late at night with nobody around isn't going to kill anyone but myself so please lay off the crack, it's not like i was hammering it through a residential area or a built up area where people are always crossing the road and there is lots of traffic around.

he was going to represent me until I told him what happened, I told him I did nothing and he said "now come on, I your not honest I can't help you" I'm like dude, I'm not retarded I know that, trust me what I've told you is what happened and I'm being shafted for f**k all, so he said that it would needed to be done properly and he doesn't have the time as he was going overseas for abit so he referred me to Charles who by the outcome was fan-bloody-tastic!!

I think some people on here should go sit in the courts for a day listen (try not laugh) at how many people get caught with suspended/cancelled license and no rego and just get let off with a fine not even extension of suspension... If I knew it was like that I wouldn't stress about losing my license just start saving for if I get caught :P

I had the judge comment on one of my appearances as the most pointless waste of police time or something to that effect, after all the charges were basically dropped.

Another incident, police just being pricks over a minor incident, judge said he was rather surprised that this was even in court - which i never needed to go anyway and judge ended up just backing it all off/lowering it.

So ye, they do see a fair bit of retarded stuff in there that honestly makes most 'average people' look good - i say contest everything if you are not in the wrong.

It's what i do :D

+1 Well said.

Woah who said anything about superior? I'm not really having a go at you, I'm no angel either. You said losing a licence is the biggest life f**k in the world, I simply beg to differ on that. It was just a quip, so don't look into it too much. I just think people should think less about losing their licence and more about theirs and others' lives. When many people consciously speed or do something silly on the road their first immediate thought in terms of negative consequences is losing their licence...the thought that someone might die usually doesn't come into play until after someone does. We too easily forget that everytime we do drive, you might as well be swimming at the beach with sharks in the water. But we don't go tempting fate by covering ourselves in meat do we...so why tempt it by doing silly things on the road?

It's not that speed kills directly, you will never find more than a correlation for that. It kills indirectly because it amplifies things, it's a catalyst. You don't need studies to prove this, use common sense. It increases stopping distance, increases G forces when a car slides out or loses traction, increases the impact of you hitting an obstacle/hazard on the road. Sometimes shit just happens on the road...you don't need to be doing anything stupid for someone to step out onto the road but the faster you are going the less chance you have of avoiding shit happening.

    • So stock ECU does not like anything above 10 psi?  That Nistune one is just for "try" if it will be any different, I know it need to be tune for that. I know but YOU may know about these problem but i/we dont. They few little Skylines here let alone people who know anything about tham so that is why iam asking here
    • So now we have a radiator with no attachments whatsoever. It lifts up with a particularly tight spot between the drivers side air box mount and the lower radiator outlet, but if you've got this far you will sort that too. This is the lower mounts with the rad out so you can see where the rubber bushes go, it is a straight shot upwards Done! Assembly is the reverse of disassembly, with blood less likely to be shed.
    • Right, onto the second last trick. The Air Con condenser is mounted to the front of the radiator and stays in the car when the radiator is removed. There are 2x 10mm headed self tappers holding the top of the condenser to the radiator, remove those The bottom of the condenser is attached to the radiator with clips. You need to lift the condenser out of those clips and clear (up, then forward). f**ked if  could work out how to do that last bit with the front bumper on. I hope you can, and you share the trick.  Bumper removal probably deserves its own thread one day once I've recovered the will to live, but basically you need to remove the wheels, front inner guard liners (clips and 10mm headed bolts), the self tapper between the guard and the bumper at the rearmost point of the bumper (same as an R32 that bit), any remaining clips at the top/front of the grill, an absolute bastard design with a plate that holds the top of the bumper above the headlight each side (only 1 bolt which is tricky to get to, but the plate catches 2 places on the bumper and must be removed....carefully!) and push clips between the bumper and guard under the headlight. If you've done all that you will be faced with wiring for the fog lights on both sides and in ADM Q50 RS at least, 4 nasty tight plugs on the driver's side for the ADAS stuff. So, the clips at the bottom look like this on drivers side (looking from the front) And on the passenger side (also from the front), you can see this one is already out Clearance on both of these are super tight; the condenser needs to move up but the upper rad support mount prevents that, and the radiator can't move down far because it is (rubber) mounted. Once you achieve the impossible and drop the condenser off those mounts so it does not stop the rad moving, you are good to go
    • OK, next the shroud needs to come off and there are a couple of tricks. Firstly, there is a loom from near the passenger side headlight to the fans, coolant temp sensor etc and there is no plug to undo.  In my case I was OK to leave the shroud on top of the engine so I just undid the passenger side fan plug and about 10 of the clips which gave enough free wire to put it aside. The fan plugs were super tight, the trick I used was a small falt screwdriver to push down on the release tab, then a larger flat screwdriver to lever the plug out of the fan unit....be careful with how much force you apply! If you need to remove the shroud altogether for some reason you will have to deal with all the plugs (tight) and clips (brittle)....good luck. I removed all of the clips and replaced them with cable ties that I will just cut next time. Also, in the Red Sport / 400R at least, the intake heat exchanger reservoir hose is bolted to the shroud in 2 places with 10mm headed bolts; so remove them (the hose stays in the car; no need to undo it at the t fittings down at the radiator lower mount. Once you've dealt with the HX hose and the wiring loom, there are 3x 10mm headed self tappers holding the top of the shroud to the radiator; remove those.   The shroud then lifts out of the bottom mounts where it sits on the radiator, up and onto the engine out of the way. Simples
    • Ok, disregard my “rate them” comment, sorry for my unrealistic input
