No worries,

It does look like a good job, id say around the cluster, you might just need to tuck the vinyl in further through and behind the part you wrapped before re-attaching it to the cluster, that should hold it, but definitley remember to post heat.

I noticed that with 3M DI-NOC, it doesn't matter how much you heat or pre-heat it, it is too thick for certain curves and corners. Which is why I've moved on from it, onto some thinner stuff lol.

But if you want a solution for the 3M DI-NOC, superglue :P

Yeah well the thing is, DINOC wasn't designed for wrapping complex curves, infact, it wasn't even designed for exterior use. It was designed as an architectural finish for indoors. 3M's 1080 series on the other hand... that is where it's at

Does this stuff come in plain matt black? not carbon look?

Yes, as well as an array of Gloss colors and a few metallics as well.

how resistant is this stuff to engine bay heat?

would love to do my intercooler pipes...

I have my Strut brace and Coilpack cover wrapped, and have done for about 3-4 months, holds up fine.

I believe Charles has done a section of his cooler piping...

Im looking at getting my pillars done in something as they are fadded badly. and also a strip along the window of my car....

if i show pics can someone say if its possiable or not

Almost anything is possible, B-pillars are a piece of cake.

What else did you have in mind?

Was thinking of doing my Boot Lid, Roof and Bonnet in Carbon Fibre Vinyl Wrap, Haven't looked into it to much, noticed some for sale in the "For Sale (Business Traders)" Here on Sau, Wondering if the stuff he is selling is good to use and how it is price wise, if no good where would I look to buy some, and how hard would you say this would be to apply to a R32 Roof, Boot, Bonnet?

Just ordered some 3M CA-421 carbon fibre wrap from SUNSCREEN 9439 5999 in Artarmon, Sydney, cost me happy trade price, they say for any heavy curves use a primer, you can get primer from supercheap paint section, its a clear spray on primer. I'll post up results in a week or two.

Bulk buy of 5mtrs works out at about $85 a meter plus postage.

It's all in the prep they said, prep it right and you will have no problems in it sticking.

What's the best way apply this stuff? drunk

In the shade when the car is cool or better when it's hot? I did it on the kitchen table

Should I just use a credit card to push all the bubbles out? I just used my fingers to push out the bubbles

Thanks

Clean it well with a wax and grease remover and apply a primer or it wont stick around the corners when the interior gets hot or you use the heater.

I like the finish but was a bit hasty in the prep, it has come way from a few spots and I will need to do it again, maybe, Ive got access to a vinyl spray booth now so may do this instead.

i did my roof on my r32 as a temp fix until i spray it...

Problem with r32's is that there are no seams/breaks in the roof to fold the vinyl into..I decided to cut the vinyl in between the 2 raised section of the roof. However on closer inspection you can still see the cut mark on the vinyl.

Also make sure to get a peice of vinyl with plenty of overhang on all 4 sides. I had to stretch the vinyl to fit properly and that distorts the weave of the cf

    • Hope you aren't too sore after that one, might take a day or 2 to notice yet and I guess it is a loooooong drive home. On the bright side, tube frame front end is a thing at superlap, right?

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same. There are plenty of discussions on here about this issue from al the many years of people wanting a cheap/accessible option. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/ https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/
    • Yeah dunno why johhny posted that here with no context, just post on FB/insta bro where he put it up?  Laine had an off at T4 during Thurs prac, he's ok, car is less than perfect, they are done for the weekend, he can fill in the rest. Bando also binned it like 100m up the road.
