Would you let another guy take you're girlfriend/missus out?

LOL I had this argument with a mate who wanted to use my 260RS for a quick trip up the road.

He asked if he could borrow my ride. I said NO! and he was cut. Until I asked him the above - Would you let another guy take your girlfriend out? LOL

So am I alone in this? Do you let mates/friends use your wheels?

He says I have a problem. Damn straight I do. Just as I would never let another guy take out my girl, you've got the same chance of taking out my wheels.

:(

It really depends for me - if my friends own equally nice cars (or at least take care of their cars) and they would lend them to me if I needed, then I would consider it.

Granted, it would have to be someone I knew well, or at least absolutely know for sure that they were trust-worthy.

There are quite a few friends and relatives that I have no hesitation in letting drive my car, and others that I know equally well who I refuse to let drive my car! In fact, with one of my best friends, I've offered to let him drive on a number of occasions, and a few weeks ago when we were out delivering something to another friend of mine, he asked me for the keys, and I gave them to him without hesitation. It's an extreme rarity that I let someone drive my car if they ask me for a run in it.

Hell no. I never let any of my girlfriends drive my wife.

Only myself and my tuner is allowed to drive mine.. not even my dad is allowed :) Harsh if you ask me, but I dont trust his driving.

kidafa drives mine a bit n vis versa... if he had a crash i know what my hire car would be :) lol nicly modded s1 :)

then again the pussy footing he did in the 260 i dnt think he coulda crashed it!

The boy drives my car but he's the only one other than me. Unless it's someone I really trust, or like the others have said drive a car of similar standard then no-one drives it but us. It's just not worth the hassle if something goes wrong. You know what it's like when bad things happen between friends... Even when it's a genuine accident, that kind of stuff NEVER ends well :)

My close mates. .yes, but they are all over 30 and drive GTR's, Evo's STI's etc. .

When needed they throw the keys no questions. .

Randoms and wannabes. . hell no.

The ex girlfriend. The answer was always no. Can i take her to the coast... no Girl in car = mess in car. Etc etc. Maybe i was being unreasanable but f**k me, the car was much more important and i give it more attention then any female.

Friends, no. Best mate, yes but like goldzilla, its similar circumstances.

I've only ever let my gf and my mechanic drive my car (she's on here though, owned an R33 and now a Onevia) and only a select few times when I was in the passenger seat. Even then she didn't drive very fast because she was scared of scratching my perfect wheels, good girl! :D

My brother has asked many times, and every time the answer has been no.

As for my folks I think both my mum and dad would have trouble getting in and out of the Bride seat, lol!

i've let a couple of my mates drive my 31 but i thrash that worse than they ever could and its the gf's car now so i dont really care too much about it

i let me gf drive my 32 a couple of times, i was in the car for most of them and she needed it to get to work once. i was more worried about where it was parked than her driving it

she hasn't driven the stag yet tho even though the insurance agreed to cover her too (for no extra fee cos i told them it was my car and she would rarely drive it)

both my parents want a go in the stag too but they will have to wait till i get back (currently in south africa and they let me put it in the garage so i kinda owe them for that)

i dont think may ppl will get a go in the stag, not untill the novalty wears off but thats gonna take a long time :D

LOL.......nup.....now way never....don't even like letting my wife drive my car.

On that subject.....years ago I had a Giocattalo(had 450hp ATW's).....anyways was at Wakefield park and this random guy(turned out to be an instructor) came up and tried to tell me he was taking my car for a couple of laps(thats right didn't ask....told me).......anyway I asked what he had at the track....his answer a VR SS Commodore...so I said fine....but give me the key's to your VR SS.....his answer no......Wont tell you my answer back to him but it was colourful!!!!....moron.

P.S. Like your avatar pic willL

the best quote ever "you aren't insured for my car"!

i would kindly lend MY missus if they were willing to lend their missus ;) .... eye for an eye.

(but she'd have to be of equal value / quality ) haha

    • My thinking is that if the O2 sensor is shot then your entire above described experience is pure placebo.
    • Here is the mess that I made. That filler there was successful in filling dents in that area. But in the middle area. I can feel dents. And I've gone ocer it multiple times with filler. And the filler is no longer there because i accidently sanded it away. I've chased my tail on this job but this is something else lol. So I'm gonna attempt filler one more time and if it doesn't work I'll just high fill primer the door and see where the issues are because guidecoat is of no use atm.
    • Ok, so I think I sort of figured out where I went wrong. So I definitely overthinked it, and I over sanded, which is probably a large part of the problem. to fix it, I ended up tapping some spots that were likely to be high, made them low, filled them in, and I tackled small sections at a time, and it feels a lot better.    I think what confused me as well is you have the bare metal, and some spots darker and some are lighter, and when I run my finger across it, it' would feel like it's a low spot, but I think it's just a transition in different texture from metal to body filler.    When your finger's sliding on the body filler, and crosses over to the bare metal, going back and forth, it feels like it's a low spot. So I kept putting filler there and sanding, but I think it was just a transition in texture, nothing to do with the low or high spot. But the panel's feels a lot better, and I'm just going to end up priming it, and then I'll block it after with guide coat.   Ended up wasting just about all of my filler on this damn door lol
    • -10 is plenty for running to an oil cooler. When you look at oil feeds, like power steering feeds, they're much smaller, and then just a larger hose size to move volume in less pressure. No need for -12. Even on the race cars, like Duncans, and endurance cars, most of them are all running -10 and everything works perfectly fine, temps are under control, and there's no restrictions.
    • Update: O2 sensor in my downpipe turned out to be faulty when I plugged in to the Haltech software. Was getting a "open circuit" warning. Tons of carbon buildup on it, probably from when I was running rich for a while before getting it corrected. Replaced with new unit and test drove again. The shuffle still happens, albeit far less now. I am not able to replicate it as reliably and it no longer happens at the same RPM levels as before. The only time I was able to hear it was in 5th going uphill and another time in 5th where there was no noticeable incline but applying more throttle first sped it up and then cleared it. Then once in 4th when I slightly lifted the throttle going over a bump but cleared right after. My understanding is that with the O2 sensor out, the ECU relies entirely on the MAP tune and isn't able to make its small adjustments based on the sensors reading. All in all, a big improvement, though not the silver bullet. Will try validating the actuators are set up correctly, and potentially setting up shop time to tune the boost controller on closed loop rather than the open loop it is set to now. Think if it's set up on closed loop to take the O2 reading, that should deal with these last bits. Will try to update again as I go.
