hey guys, ill try to keep this short.

Basically i recently got my car back after a big build (rb26/30, gt35r, top mount, ect ect)

and ive noticed how hot it gets when im driving the car.....i realised that theres alot of heat comming from under the dash (where the pedals are) and the air con vents. I assumed it was because of the heat the engine was producing. i also had alot of issues with the water temp hitting 110c sometimes.

so i spent a good amount of money ceramic coating the entire exhaust side. Including manifold, turbo housing, dump pipe ect. the only thign i didnt coat was the wastegate (hard stuff to coat without dismatling the thing). I even bought a new Koyo Radiator to help with water temps.

But nothing changed.....i feel like its gotten hotter.

The only thing i can think of is that i am currently using a screamer pipe....but it never was an issue before the build, then again i wasnt running a bit top mount.

have you guys got any ideas?

climate control is stuck on heat, common issue.

to test see if ur aircon works properly.. or atleast try get it to blow cold air thru it then see if it gets hot.

well now that you mention it the AC isnt working....i never knew it was linked.

would it still be stuck on heat even if the AC control is off? or using different settings?

if it is indeed stuck on heat...how does one fix this? i suspect it has something to do with the Wiring into the ECU? (im using a PFC)

Given you just had work done done on the car I'd say the ambient sensor is unpluged ( it should be the little black lump next to the horns, behind front bumper).

Like GTScotT said its a common thing, mechanic forgets sensor, A/C thinks the outside temp is -40C or something and fires up the heater 4 ya

There are 2 other sensors, one at the back of the dash ,left side (sunLoad) and one just to the left of the steering columb (interior temp).

Any of these left unpluged/faulty will screw up ya AirCon (usually with the heat your gettn)

EDIT: Water temp hitting 110C sounds like a seperate issue, I THINK this is a common issue 4 workd motors (I'd sujest you search SAU 4 this one, I've seen a few good posts covering this)

had this happen to me once. felt hot air coming through vents etc.

watched the oil and water temps but nothing unusual. i thought something was f**ked.

Turned out i'd bumped the air con control and set it to 30 something degrees so hot air was coming through the vents even though the air con control was off :S was quite weird

Im not sure about the 34 but i know with the 33 that if the climate control is on 18, 30 what ever, it will lightly blow that temp even if it's turned off.

Can confirm that for my R34 is the same - I was surprised when I noticed :P

it does indeed do this, but ive always had it set to 18c on the board....turned on or off it blows hot air.

ill check all the sensors...hopefully they all working

definitely stuck on heat then mate, even with the ambient sensor unpluged you should be able to turn it back down each time you drive.

ull have to go thru the whole system and check everything, heater tap, plugs etc

hit the recirculate button (inside air ) to stop the blowing with the aircons off, the cowl vent door gets left open

its been said B4 but, the designer of the A/C should be shot

EDIT: Some 'Console' programs can diagnose the aircon, might be worth a shot if ya got access to one

Remember that it's an electronic computer and not a manual switch, quite easy for something to fail electronically and the signal not make it to the solenoid. I agree with everyone else, heater stuck on...

hey mate ,do you run themo fans on your set up ??as i have a twin turbo rb 30 /25 set up running 488 rwkw and i was running themo fans and driven around wasnt to bad but i soon as i got a red light or went through a drive through temps would clim ..up ..i pulled the themos off and put the standed fan back on ,and didnt have any more troubles with the temp climming.

there is a sensor that is prone to breaking, its near the windscreen on the inside above the glove box.

when it goes you basically have 2 settings.... 18 (cold) and everything else (hot)

you need to turn it to 18 and then turn it off to get it to stop blowing hot air :ph34r:

    • For these last 7 years of ownership, I've always had to use a small scissor jack under one of the front tow hooks to raise the front just enough so my low-profile jack fits under to reach my subframe jack point. I'm beginning to get annoyed of always having to do this. Are there any lower low-profile jacks that fit under the gtr lip on a dropped car?
    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed 
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
    • Here's an idea, answer the questions I asked you as they are trying to work out WHY the LSD will be binding up in a straight line.
