As just played on Today Tonight the story was hoon driving and how kids try to emulate Top Gear.

The story was based on some idiot on you tube in a s14 who made a try out video for top gear drifting on public roads thinking he was a hero.

I just thought this would be a good discussion.

Yeah just watched it. While he shouldn't have done it on public roads i think they went too far saying everyone does it to try and be like the stig. Most of what Top Gear do is on their own track, they hardly encourage people to do it on the street. Not good for import drivers to have this shyte in the news.

Today Tonight is using Channel 9's fuckup (bad reporting, shonky editing and dodgy sources) to make a stab at Top Gear, which Channel 9 acquired the rights to last year.

Top Gear is a ratings cash cow, make the public complain about the program by writing in, and it'll be yanked off the air. Channel 7 wins.

Kapish?

What he made was a Vid to try out for Top Gear...

Yes but obviously he was too much of an idiot to consider the other people on the roads.

Nothing against him for making the video to try out for top gear but perhaps he should have kept it to the track or pans.

It drives me crazy that the media is always blaming TV but perhaps if these idiots had more access to proper facilities it wouldn't be so bad.

And the other half should just have their licenses taken away from them.

Maybe you could call ACA and get them to do a story on how bad Today Tonight is for blaming the TV for it, and then pin it on the state government, and bring up all the track closures over the years.

We'll never win when it comes to the media. This crap sells newspapers and such. Did you hear the voices they used to read the "facebook comments"?

I don't watch the crap... I actually get in arguments with my olds when they're watching as I point out how one sided every single story is... They hate me doing that, as they then have to think...

already gone through this in the Wastelands section, basically ACA made up some crap about some guy on youtube to promote Top Gear (which they have the rights to), ACA has been caught out so their laying low, Today tonight are jumping on the band wagon to try and get people to complain enough so someone takes TopGear (a massive world wide success) off the air....

hey guys i know carlo from today tonight and he has been drifting that road for years long before top gear was even thought of i even used to go out with them some times they dont just go drifting round not knowing wats coming towards them they have people at the top bottom and more people in the middle of the hills so if any cars do come they communicate and let the each other know wats happening and i also know that carlos s14 is set up for drifting, and that road he is drifting on no one ever uses apart from the odd car from time to time.

Everybody has their own agenda...

Channel 9 has their own agenda = a top rating show

Carlo has his own agenda = do I need to repeat it?

Channel 7 has their own agenda = to pull Channel 9's pants down

The viewers make their judgement and...

WE GET CAUGHT IN THE MIDDLE :)

Why is it that when someone does something stupid and gets caught and ACA does there job, which is to sensationalise things, people complain about ACA and jump in to defend the IDIOTS of the world.

This guy is why people get defects on there car or their friends killed.

Im all for doing skids and having fun but FFS, Grow up people.

    • What are we supposed to be seeing in the photo of the steering angle sensor? The outer housing doesn't turn, right? All the action is on the inside. The real test here is whether or not your car has had the steering put back together by a butcher. When the steering is centred (and we're not caring about the wheel too much here, we're talking about the front wheels, parallel, facing front) then you should have an absolutely even number of turns from centre to left lock and centre to right lock. If there is any difference at all then perhaps the thing has been put back together wrongly, either the steering wheel put on one spline (or more!) off, and the alignment bodged to straighteb the wheel, or the opposite where something silly was done underneath and the wheel put back on crooked to compensate. Nut there isn't actually much evidence that you have such a problem anyway. It is something you can easily measure and test for to find out though. My money is still on the HICAS CU not driving the PS solenoid with the proper PWM signal required to lighten the load at lower speed. If it were me, I would be putting either a multimeter or oscilloscope onto the solenoid terminals and taking it for a drive, looking for the voltage to change. The PWM signal is 0v, 12V, 0V, 12v with ...obviously...modulated pulse width. You should see that as an average voltage somewhere between 0V and 12V, and it should vary with speed. An handheld oscilloscope would be the better tool for this, because they are definitely good enough but there's no telling if any cheap shit multimeter that people have lying around are good enough. You can also directly interfere with the solenoid. If you wire up a little voltage divider with variable resistor on it, and hook the PS solenoid direct to 12V through that, you can manually adjust the voltage to the solenoid and you should be able to make it go ligheter and heavier. If you cannot, then the problem is either the solenoid itself dead, or your description of the steering being "tight" (which I have just been assuming you mean "heavy") could be that you have a mechanical problem in the steering and there is heaps of resistance to movement.
    • Little update  I have shimmed the solenoid on the rack today following Keep it Reets video on YouTube. However my steering is still tight. I have this showing on Nisscan, my steering angle sensor was the closest to 0 degrees (I could get it to 0 degrees by small little tweaks, but the angle was way off centre? I can't figure this out for the life of me. I get no faults through Nisscan.
    • The BES920 is like the Toyota Camrys of coffee machines. E61 group head is cool, however the time requirements for home use makes it less desirable. The Toyota Camry coffee machine runs twin boilers and also PID temp control, some say it produces coffees as good as an E61 group head machine.
    • And yes with a full tank it will hit limiter free revving or driving 6B6CDF6E-4094-426D-A9CB-6C553475FE36.mp4
    • One way of putting the fuel surge idea to rest, is that even when in neutral/clutch in or free revving it still has the same issue, it can’t even get to limiter (7800) so to me that says it can’t be g force, I’m not trying to argue I just want to find the f&$king issue 😡
