I was out at haunted hills on the weekend at a Maserati club day on Sunday and Watched a purple Nissan GTR r33 driven by a guy (I think his name is John Kennedy) set the fastest time ever been around there for a car with doors!!

55.1 SEC (clock wise circuit)

Pretty impressive when you consider that Porsche Club had been there with every known Porsche, Evo, STI WrX, HSV, Lambo etc. And they didn't even come close.

R35 GTR that was there on the day I think it was a guy called Geoff Beable he was 3 SECONDS SLOWER!! I thought r33 were lemons......Well Ill eat my words!!

P.S The guy who drove the GTR R33 (Kennedy I think) was an old guy, like 50 or something? ?

Yep John Kennedy sure knows how to steer!!! The car was built and prepped by Racepace.

Every thing not needed in the car has been removed, not sure what it weighs but I'd say he's taken 200kg's out of it...

He's in the low 1:16's at Sandown...

Johns a nice guy who is very competitive. He really gets the bit between his teeth on comp days and hammers. His purple R33 is pretty quick as well and very nicely turned out.

He was in the same garage at P.I. last year.

Wow.......Awesome time!

Thank god he is not a member of SAU Vic - that way my 57.91 set in a fairly stock R33GTR still stands :)

Even with a well setup car, I have no idea where he would've found close to 3 secs!!!

that's a super quick time!

how much horse power does the GTR in question have?

I remember seeing the car at sandown, it looked pretty serious!

Jamie also has a fairly solid time (55.38) for a 270hp 911...

see page results link, page two class M2:

I think he is only 0.4seconds or something quicker then BelSil80 off these forums in his pissy S13 with 210rwkws.

Not to dis Ryan in any way but I think he mentioned that the timing at Dutton when he got that time was a bit out.

Congrats to John. That is a truly amazing time. Was it on slicks?

well done jfk....that car really does move.

if he now holds the tin top record that means he beat stu inwood's time from the national hillclimb champs last year.....which would be payback for stu beating him at the national supersprint!

last I saw the car it was running re55s, so I doubt it is on slicks now.

chris....image a stock looking midnight purple r33 and you have it. externally it is a real sleeper, under the skin it is farking quick!

As a fellow 'old guy' John certainly showed us the way. No disrespect to Jeff, but if i could drive like that I'd be happy whatever age.

If you check the times at the Maserati web site to shows that,

John was 1.87 sec. quicker than the 35 on the normal circuit, I couldn't get 35 to launch at all.

My best was a 37.01

On the figure 8 circuit the difference between the cars was only 1.33

On the 3 last runs of the day the difference between our times was 1.37, 1.31, 1.33 all less than .06 of a second apart.

Johns car is very very quick, a standerd R35 is no match for it on a small tight circuit.

besides at 65 I'm allowed to slow up a bit

Hi Duncan

I beleive JFKs time was set on perimiter configuration, not figure 8 as used at the Australian HC Championship. To my knowledge I still hold the record for the figure 8 track. Congrats to JFK, on outright win. To do 55's on the figure 8 puts you in front of a Lola T8750 2008 Australian Outright Hillclimb Champion Car.

Hello Bomex8 Just for your records, the perimeter track record is held by Kevin Mackrell with a time of 54.98 set in Nov 2008, in a Chev powered 260Z Kevin has the Figure 8 class record at 60.70 and with my time at 59.65 figure 8's mine for tintops :)

His car is very quick, and so is he.

Congratulations to him!

Totally correct, Johns car is Farking fast and yes after running with him at PI, so's he. He is also great to run with, love to have kws at wheels that he's running. (come on JFK 1.48 seconds to catch me on Figure 8- lol) ps since when was 50 old, the bloody cars 15, we have to drive em for another 10 years before we pay for em! Just paid off the HQ lol.

    • Hello!  i just finished manual swaping my r34 skyline with a r33 rb20de box(RB71C)box  When the car is running it squeaks crazy loud and it was smoking from the gearbox area. The gearbox is fine it was tested. The clutch slave cylinder seems like it doesn't fully releases the clutch. I want to ask if this noise is from the throw out bearing or could it be the clutch assembly or disk att.xFliq87Gzw6kImKBVqDebXkj0fBqymk0JaYeP3_3SlM.mp4
    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
