yes the r32 only has the rb20 which is a 2.0L whereas the later models get the 2.5L (although there were still some 2.0L versions). to be honest if you are just looking at getting a cheap first car, get a n15 SSS pulsar. it has the SR20 in it and the car is much newer than the r32 (by as much as about 10 years). insurance will be much cheaper as they were sold here by nissan, and parts are also much easier to get.

performance wise it would probably out perform the r32 gts (that is the base model, the gts-t is the turbo version) because even though it puts out fractionally less power and torque (although peak torque is 800rpm lower in the rev range), because the car is much lighter it will still perform well. i have one and it will happily tow my 3.6m boat on the highway and i can even overtake cars easily while towing. in fact one day i was able to pass a landcruising towing a 4.5m boat up a hill in overtaking lanes when he started slowing down due to the steepness of the hill. since you were looking at an ae111 you obviously aren't too fussed about whether the car is fwd or rwd which opens up your options much more.

you will find a tidy SSS pulsar for under $10,000 and there are plenty out there with reasonably low kms.

not true, ive got a non turbo r32 and its stock except a cat back exhasut, and i pull away from n15 pulsars....mines for sale if anyone's interested...

yeah probably the 1.6L pulsars. go up against a SSS driven by someone who is actually trying then get back to me. i've gone up against a natro r33 and beaten it in mine, as well as a stock turbo cefiro and beaten it.

nah way off bro ive raced my mates n15 sss with a sr20de...trust me i pull away...anyway im selling it for 6k with 168000kms on it...it needs a new gear bearing and a rear main seal...im gonna actually get that stuff fixed this or next weekend...the parts are cheap, but the labour ill cost a little...its gunmetal grey

lol you're so full of fkn shit, stop lying cause you're trying to sell yours!

R32 GTS couldn't pull the skin off a custard you douche.

This, i'd be suprised if an R32 GTS could beat a Subaru RX or a mirage/Lancer

Hey guys,

I've lately taken a interest in Non turbo R32's. I was originally planning on getting a AE111 as a first car but my price limit is $10 000 and thats really pushing it for that type of car.

I just wanted to know if they are any good as a first cars? Usual things like: Reliability, Insurance, Fuel etc

I searched here on SAU and found a thread saying that they are known as GTS's, though I typed that in the keyword section of Carsales and only GTS-T's came up.

Also in the same thread someone said they are weaker than R33 and R34 NT's beacause it has a 2.0L so it needs high revs to keep it going.

Any owners out there please come forward with past good/bad experiences.

Cheers,

hey mate i hav a R32 with a RB25 engine in it this cars so dont listen to people when they say that R32 only come with Rb20s :) ive had myne for abt 1yr now iam happy with it oly brought it for abt 6k did a 1k RWC and i was back on the road. • Mixing things up - installed some leather recaros to match the leather seat covered rear seats. Interior looks pretty schmick now except for some slight wear on the steering wheel which I will monitor and address if it becomes worse or actually noticeable!

    • I'm normally copping my own abuse from neglecting my daily drivers. "Those suspension bushes will last a bit more", "Don't worry about the oil leak, just keep topping it up". The project cars I'm always doing things slowly on them as I'm wanting them to be done better, and neater, and nicer. Luckily I don't have to deal with 18 year old Matt's "Learning to wire" stuff in the project cars. And there's only one piece of wiring I'm displeased about in the Landcruiser, and it's about to be cut out... However, the box loads of parts that have been going through this place lately for the Landcruiser... Brake pads Brake Rotors Full handbrake overhaul Wheel Bearings Seals Swivel hubs Steering Boxes Half the suspension joints Shocks Air bags (Ones to go in the rear springs for towing) Water pump Timing kit Lower timing case Harmonic Balancer Radiator Lots of other little seals and shits Gas struts for the bonnet New power window switches And god knows what else I've forgotten... Ha ha ha I have my fingers crossed the pinion seals don't start leaking on the diffs, that the transfer case doesn't leak, and the gearbox input shaft doesn't leak, nor the rear main seal. As they're about the only seals I haven't replaced in the driveline! I'm seriously eyeing off buying new caliper rebuild kits front and rear brake calipers... I'll probably recheck all the valve clearances soon too, and hopefully, it should be all good and sweet to haul some long distance trips again!
    • Every time I pull my 3x gauges out of the console and see the crack-addict way that I did the wiring, and I just can't bring myself to tear it all apart and "make it nice", because it is currently working. In fact, the last time I was in there I probably made it worse.
