Just got pulled over not 15 mins ago passing through CBD area.. Cop was a pretty nice bloke, popped my hood and saw the BOV and decided not to give me an EPA fine. Gave me $292 unroadworthy fine which is better than $500 fine + EPA inspection I guess. He also told me their doing a blitz tonight in the city so be careful if any of you guys are heading out tonight.

saw an impressive thing tonight. was waiting to turn onto flinders from swanston and heard shouting. in the time it took me to look, spot the fight, see blood and go "damn", there was an unmarked ford screeching to a halt with the rednblues going and two officers jumping in. very quick response indeed and my appreciation for the cops has increased from its recent low

LMAO Massa will be disappointed as he has been campaigning against unsafe driving ;)

Guess it drops a small bomb on the theory that if hoons tried legal racing they'd keep it off the street - if an F1 driver can't hold back in a Benz :)

Got a good chuckle out of the Hamilton news story. Nice to see they didn't let him go and treated him like anyone else. Is it possible they're blitzing due to the death of the owner of La Porchetta, or is it just because the GP is on and they expect a lot of hoon behaviour?

Reminds me of the time Valentino Rossi was caught at over 200kph on his way to Philip Island a few years ago.

its an election year gotta start getting money to cover all their ridiculous promises..be lots of blitzing

Don't think they give other hoon drivers a police escort home to protect their identity..

My dad was given a lift home by the police after being done at a booze bus 3 years ago. He asked nicely, they said yes and sent him home in the pursuit car. He was friendly and co-operative and they treated him in the same manner.

Don't have to drive anyone home. If they have been good to deal with and it's fairly local I will drive them home. I will always let them call friend to collect them or taxi for them. If they have been pain in the ass and heavily intoxicated I have then locked them up for drunk after dealing with the driving matters.

The city on weekends fri/sat night and public holidays have 50-100 extra members working safe streets (overtime shift) Double time to do pretty much stuff all. It's all stats driven the more arrests, fines, nou, epa etc means you will get more shifts in there earning big money. There is NO warnings for that reason as a warning isn't going to help you get another shift in there earning big money walking around the city.

I love the way your posts make yourself out the be the 'knight in shining armour' Police Officer. I'd be willing to put money on it that you don't do half the things you claim you do, just like the rest of your 'esteemed' colleagues. :O

    • 12+ months passed so they have no obligation to do a warranty claim. It leaked from the rear circuit. Front circuit was fine, but I tried many times to bench-bleed and in-car bleed (wasted 1L of Penrite racing brake fluid) to no avail. Threw my old BM50 or whatever the standard R32 GT-R BMC is, brakes went back to normal. So from my very limited anecdotal experience, I cannot recommend HFM, even though a lot of their products looks good. Just my experience (I have a genuine Nissan BM57 in a box waiting to be installed now).
    • How dare you sell your unreliable Skyline and buy a reliable, Toyota/Yamaha car with a strong gearbox, torsen LSD and Toyota reliability. At least you won't need to worry about oil pumps, big catch can, oil restrictors, blowing off power steering belts, sheering off 3rd gear, failing ABS relays/pumps, etc.
    • Hope you aren't too sore after that one, might take a day or 2 to notice yet and I guess it is a loooooong drive home. On the bright side, tube frame front end is a thing at superlap, right?

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same. There are plenty of discussions on here about this issue from al the many years of people wanting a cheap/accessible option. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/ https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/
