You Bet!!!

And get your Daily Telegraph to-day everyone!

Keep that CARS Guide Cover Story as your personal Memento forever!!! :P

Congratulations Bobby!

Many many thanks to David Fitzsimons - Daily Telegraph Motoring Editor for a wonderful job over 2 full pages #99-100!

Got it  Only problem is the link is a misnomer, the "Events" section... But wasn't specified under the NSW section.

Just to reiterate regarding food / lunch;

There will be a range of pies, light snacks and soft drinks available through the Edge Cinema. :P

Keeping in mind the movie is to start at 1:30pm sharp, there are also tons of cafes / takeaway shops etc just over the highway in Katoomba. This is a pretty relaxed 10-minute walk (each way) *up* the exit driveway of the Edge (Civic Pl), head right when you hit the highway to the next set of lights and take the railway overpass into Katoomba.

However, if you're getting your car photographed through Eric (Pezhead) or want to spend more time hanging around the cinema to check out the cars before the movie starts it might be wiser to bring a packed lunch due to time limitations (particularly for the later groups).

Hey 3 people from here will be meeting at Cabramatta car wash next to hungry jacks before heading off to the meet point. Unsure of the time yet though but I'll get back to you with it

ok kool sounds like a plan, just let me know on the time...hopefully early the better

was a great story, except for the pic with the knob next to the car :D

Always modest, you are.

Wish I had a build like yours in my mid 30s :ermm:

...unless you cheated and held your breath? :D

Also picked up the DT today. Great piece. Love your car mate.

Shame you can't fully enjoy her though as you want to keep the kms down and preserve her condition. Have to do a Ferris Bueler :) Not that I'd endorse that kind of thing.

My afms started to play up last night...great perfect timing as always :D

Don't worry mate, you're not the only one. Got new coils installed today and it's now got pretty bad misfire lol. Trying to fix it before the cruise!

Here is a map in case anyone wants it. I've highlighted a couple of the key turns.

For best results save this picture file and print it in full resolution.

SAU_Penrith-to-Katoomba_cruise.jpg

If anybody is lost on the day with road directions to/from or when up at katoomba around the area yell out to me (red ss ute) lived in penrith my entire life and spend 14hrs a day on the roads in the blue mountains so know it better than anywhere.

As a side note for the journey home from Katoomba which I think will be after 4pm, in all honesty it's going to be an absolute shit fight getting from Katoomba (iMAX) to Penrith (M4). Due to massive highway road works, during the week it has taken from 1.5 to 3 hrs just to do half that trip of 21km (which is normally around 15-20mins tops) so do not expect to get home any time before 8pm and make sure you have plenty of fuel for idling in traffic because fuel servo's are few and far between. The absolute worst weekend of the entire year to hold this event but still im looking forward to it.

Also as someone who grew up in the mountains I know Sunday arvos can be a pain going East, + Bathurst weekend + roadworks. Won't be so bad with some company in the car and some music. But you can also consider hanging around Katoomba until after about 8-9pm; there are tons of nice places to eat around Katoomba / Leura like the Carrington (Katoomba St nr station), Canton Palace (246 Katoomba St), and so on.

Wall St Money Never Sleeps is also playing at the Edge at 5.40pm / The Other Guys at 5.30pm on the day, together with a bunch of other movies (with sessions on at 7pm, 8pm, 9pm) so that's another option for delaying your trip home if that's something you can afford to do. :P

Cheers,

Matt

    • It was a great, but typical track day, and some VB was ingested at the night time debrief 🤪
    • And so, to round this out, I couldn't be happier to confirm @MBS206 has decided to buy the car. He drove down from sunny QLD with a trailer last week and it is off to its new home today. I'll let Matt confirm on next steps but I understand broadly that the plan is to leave it pretty much as is, and just get some quality wheel time with a nicely balanced car that is pretty much track ready. There are a few a jobs still to be done first but nothing too major and I think its a very smart buy Dinner last night at the Paragon with a round of VBs (mostly) for Neil
    • Well, 50 pages and the end of a chapter for this car. We took it out for a shakedown at Wakie yesterday, and everything went well. There were a couple of niggles: - Oil cooler fitting leak - tightened, cleaned, stopped leaking - Radiator cap overflow fitting was leaking....Mark called it, the overflow fitting was threaded in and not tight....tightened, tested and held pressure - Small oil leak at the rear of the block, probably the turbo oil feed - too hot to get at it comfortably but probably just needs to be nipped up - leak at the driver's side rear brake line where it meets the hardline. Fitting wasn't loose, so Matt backed it off and back on, no further leaks - there's also a leak somewhere on the top of the fuel tank, maybe that cross over fuel line - that was has been left to fix when its on a hoist Otherwise than those niggles the car went great, turned great and stopped great so it was a very successful day out. I'm always really nervous when a car first hits the track after a long break, especially with a brand new engine as well but it was great. VID-20251011-WA0007.mp4  Big thanks to @The Bogan who dropped by and helped out, @MBS206 and my nephew Lachlan the apprentice.  Neil's wife Mel also surprised the hell out of all of us by dropping by; she's up in Tamworth these days but was travelling to Melbourne so had plausible deniability for turning up at the garage, it was great to see her but also obviously a bit sad all round.
    • Skyline R33 Series 2 sedan tail lights in excellent condition. • Unsolicited advice? Keep the engine as close to stock as you can. Nothing wrong with adding some boost and making a little more power, but given where you are, you really don't want to try to make it into a monster. I can't imagine the roads are up to it, and the lack of locla support when it grenades will be a ball ache. FWIW, If there is a dyno around that you can access, then brand new injectors are a good idea, which will lead you to (at least) putting a Nistune in it, which will allow you to put an R35 AFM on it, all of which will make it possible to make it much much nicer to drive and live with.
