32gtr......

Look i love skylines, i breathe them...

But fk me man, they don't come close to the refinement of a RS4.

Ye i could spend 100k on a GTR and have it taking me into orbit... I'd still have a RS4 given the chance.

Agreed.

You could spend half a million dollars on an R32 GTR and have one of the quickest cars on the planet, yet at the end of the day an Audi R8, E92 M3 etc are still going to be the better cars. It aint just about being the fastest in a straight line or having the quickest possible time around a track, there is a hell of a lot more to top end cars than that.

Who says most Ferrari owners don't come off as stuck up tossers, no idea what they are on about.

Another reason to buy a Euro over Jap, No one can beat them in passenger safety.

Awesome thing to say in a thread about some one dying in a Jap car.

sticks and stones mate

Similar dilema to myself when I sold my 34 gtr...what did I get...E46 M3.

335 is nice but just isn't an M3. RS4 has changed shape a few times now and looks a bit 'normal'. TT is just too small in the back seat. 996 is an enthusiast car but the missus hated it.

I sold the M3 now and guess what I am thinking of.....guesses...no....2001 34 GTR V spec 2...back to the darkside.

Why...well your list scares me to touch...the GTR has this marvellous site to help with parts and issues cheaper.

Personally I wouldn't buy Euro, I work on the stuff everyday and it makes me laugh how people pay ludicrous amounts for basically very poorly made crap.

That aside  i would get the Porsche, only one out of the lot I would even consider.

According to a Cars Guide (DTM) Motoring Editor...

"Regardless of whether you are male or female, you'll spend 10% of your time selecting a car (by design as much as performance/comfort) of your choice; and then 90% of your time to justify it! :(

Your thoughts?

totally agree...

and i just dont get the fezza thing... the italians aren't any better at making cars than anyone else, they are just better at telling people they are the best... just like their boring ass cuisine

i dont hate all expensie cars.... I would definately splash the cash for a GT3 rs :(

Id say i spend about 2 % selecting it, 50% thinking about modding it 10% actually modding it, 30% fixing it 8% jerking off over it..

Lifes to short for justification.... :)

I think as you get older you appreciate things more and hence I'd live a ferrari but I'm still a kid at heart so GTR is simple fun.

Don't forget insurance if you are the wrong age.

Ever consider something like an STI liberty or an Alfa GT with your range anyway.

Well basically it looks as if I'm being rat-f**ked into the getting the TTS *awaits tidle wave of laughter* yes you guessed it, it has come down to "what car looks better" to the Mrs.

Currently she says

BMW E46 M3 "Looks dated, interior sucks"

BMW E92 335i "Likes a lot, but looks like an old mans car from the back"

Audi B7 RS4 "Old mans car, has four doors, wtf are you thinking"

Audi 8J TTS "Fantastic LOOKING car, wow I love these (even though your face is screwed up when you mention lack of performance"

Porsche 996 Carrera "I like them, not fussed either way"

I even threw the SLK 350 AMG into the mix today as we parked next to one......she said "What the hell is that, it's tiny"

I've tried saying we can get her a nice cheaper TT that's not Quattro (to apease the 'looks' issue) and me getting something more on the awesome side...but it's being vetoed hard at the moment.

I've suggested we just do the rounds of the showrooms and go for some test drives and see what we can agree on.

She's not a massive fan of my car that's for sure, I got an ear bashing today because of it's noticeable performance increase since she got in it last week, bloody human dyno I tell ya!!!!

    • I would just put EBC back on the "I would not use their stuff" pile and move on.
    • Can I suggest you try EBC directly again and link them to as many competitor catalogues as you can to show their listing is incorrect, eg https://dba.com.au/product/front-4000-series-hd-brake-rotor-dba42304/ If you have access to an R33 GTST VIN and your VIN, you could also use a Nissan Parts lookup like Amayama to show them the part number is different between 33 GTST and 34 GTT which may get their attention
    • So i got reply from EBC and they just this site where you can clearly see those 296mm fronts on R34 GTT. I send them photos and "quotes" that 296mm are not for 34 GTT and they are too small. But it will be very hard to return them cuz nobody here knows 100% and they just copy those EBC catalogue :-D https://ebcbrakesdirect.com/automotive/nissan/skyline-r34
    • Hi, is the HKS  Tower Bar still available ? negotiable ? 🤔
    • From there, it is really just test and assemble. Plug the adapter cables from the unit into the back of the screen, then the other side to the car harness. Don't forget all the other plugs too! Run the cables behind the unit and screw it back into place (4 screws) and you should now have 3 cables to run from the top screen to the android unit. I ran them along the DS of the other AV units in the gap between their backets and the console, and used some corrugated tubing on the sharp edges of the bracket so the wires were safe. Plug the centre console and lower screen in temporarily and turn the car to ACC, the AV should fire up as normal. Hold the back button for 3 sec and Android should appear on the top screen. You need to set the input to Aux for audio (more on that later). I put the unit under the AC duct in the centre console, with the wifi antenna on top of the AC duct near the shifter, the bluetooth antenna on the AC duct under the centre console The GPS unit on top of the DS to AC duct; they all seem to work OK there are are out of the way. Neat cable routing is a pain. For the drive recorder I mounted it near the rear view mirror and run the cable in the headlining, across the a pillar and then down the inside of the a pillar seal to the DS lower dash. From there it goes across and to one USB input for the unit. The second USB input is attached to the ECUtec OBD dongle and the 3rd goes to the USB bulkhead connected I added in the centre console. This is how the centre console looks "tidied" up Note I didn't install the provided speaker, didn't use the 2.5mm IPod in line or the piggyback loom for the Ipod or change any DIP switches; they seem to only be required if you need to use the Ipod input rather than the AUX input. That's it, install done, I'll follow up with a separate post on how the unit works, but in summary it retains all factory functions and inputs (so I still use my phone to the car for calls), reverse still works like factory etc.
