My old car at AutoSalon:

Apparently pulled 310awkw on their dyno.

Nice shoes he has put on it but an ugly wing!

Unless the owner tracks the car... The GT Wing is useless.

I don't mind FTOs. I nearly bought one until I realised how bloody slow they were! The handling is quite good though, and I normally hate FWDs with a passion.

If I was going to drive a girly looking lightweight car I'd take my MR2 turbo :) RWD > FWD

^^ +1

I'm quite sure our 10KG rear wing is useless too, probably never heard of lightweight carbon fibre back in the 90's :)

I guess that's why my GTR does not have a spoiler :P

Even on track does this kinda wing really help? thought they were just made just for looks...

If the wing is angled at the correct spot, it will improves aerodynamic performance at high speed.

To increase drag or generate down force, helps stabilise the rear of the car = More control = Faster you go.

The angle of attack of the wing on some cars can be adjusted to increase downward force over the rear wheels, but it has the dual result of increasing drag.

Too much drag = Slow you down.

Your R33 GTR and Nathan's R34 GTR wing / blade / spoiler can be adjusted to a certain angle.

Nismo released a Boot Lip Spoiler for the R32 GTR to increase more down force as the stock spoiler for the R32 GTR was in a fixed position.

To actually test to see if the adjustment of the wing / blade / spoiler has made any improvement, you need to test it through a Wind Tunnel.

Or at the engineering department of the car manufacture themselves.

Or take it out to a race track and hammer it hard down the straight and through a corner to see if you notice any improvement in handling.

:P

Unfortunately, majority of the shit cars running with GT Wings for street use are mostly used for cosmetics = Fucking ricers!

Until you goto a track day and see the GT Wings, it is all for a purpose.

Hence the upgrade to a GT Wing is justifiable, at 3KG.

Downforce + weight reduction.

Topic over :P

Fair enough...though they were more cosmetic than actual use...ill actually play with my wing and see if i can feel any difference...thanks mate...

If I fit one to my backside, will I walk faster?

Something to think about.......

Well you might also be able to fly with proper angled wings... :(

Woo came 13th out of 44 on the dyno.

Congrats bro...great stuff...

The Announcer guy at the dyno said that black gtr was a "circuit tuned track car" and not at its fullest potential for power. He said his highest recorded was 350 but on the day from memory it got something like 295 299 310kw between the 3 runs.

    • You very likely need to get it on a dyno and tune it. My assumption is, you've got an RB25DET tune in it, which has a different manifold, different injectors, and different cams as a minimum. What O2 sensor are you running?   When you say it runs extremely rich from idle all the way to redline, is this just free revving it you see that?
    • I seem to the be only person that is using a Haltech 2500 on an NA motor, I've installed a Bosch DBW throttle body to the OEM intake manifold and am having problems maintaining AFR even with the wideband o2.  It will run extremely rich at idle and up to redline, but under load it will go extremely lean in the 20s and i'm essentially having to rev it over 4k and feather the clutch to get it up to speed.  I've read a few other threads of about the butterfly, it seems removing the vacuum to it is supposed to have it remain open, i've noticed no difference under 4k with the vacuum line to it plugged.  I'm hoping someone here has had luck using the NA manifold with Haltech, and if they happen to have a tune for it.
    • I don't know any details, but I really wouldn't be surprised if they do it as a LHD only version, at least initially.
    • Thanks for the replies everyone. Definitely a coolant push. Oil catch can is empty and always has been. As the engine is out now I'll be having a good look over things. I do have some detonation on the piston tops from a trigger issue back about 5 years ago. I felt it and shut off then bought a new ecu and changed the trigger. Never been an issue since. It never hurt the power, its made almost 80hp more since that incident but I will pull the bearing caps to take a look. If the bearings are damaged I will do a bottom end refresh. Head is being re conditioned at the moment and the block will be cleaned and checked to ensure it's flat. I'll go with a kameari gasket and see how it ends up. The other thing I'm not super keen on is the cylinder colours. I suspect this is from the inlet manifold. The plan will be to put it back together, retune and then stick a plazmaman billet inlet on it and retune. I'm happy with the power, if it makes a little more, then great, but I would rather just make everything more efficient at this stage.
    • Maybe they'll look to do a bunch of presales to help inject some cash fast for their financial issues...
