Sorry but I'm on the side of the police there. If your vision is marked as being bad enough to require glasses, then not wearing them is silly and not safe!

Agree, I have that condition as well, and I refuse to drive unless I'm wearing my glasses/contacts (because I like to see what's going on far ahead of me instead of 2m).

It's a bit harsh mate, but rules are rules.

When you're on your L's, they can't really book you for anything hence why you could get away with a lot of stuff.

Ive been pulled over by a large woman with a shaved head and no bra, at least it didnt look like she was wearing one. There was no way any politeness or honesty was going to get me out of this one, I was lucky I wasn't eaten. Mind you, she was trying to book me for going through an orange light, to which I contested in court and won.

I wonder if the 'stupid cop stuff' thread is still floating around the wasteland. All sorts of fun stuff in there.

got pulled over last friday, cops spotted me from around a bend leaving the school i work at, raced up a back alley that leads to the same main road i was headed too, waited in the street parallel to me to see where i put my blinkers, then pounced (i was aware of all of this at the time and was just waiting for it), got pulled over, guy comes up to the car with his partner on the other side, have a quick look at the front of the car and says "hey mate, sorry we thought you didn't have a number plate at the front but its obviously their" (my numberplate is at the bottom angled (defect btw) ... he done the regular breath test thing and then best of all i didn't have my licence on me he asked if id had any dramas with the popo, i said no, he said he would give me the benefit of the doubt... he asked why i was hanging around outside the school and i told him i worked their and that was that, he left with a friendly smile and a wave...

now i hate to be a ball breaker but during all of this :

my car exaust was going hard out gurgling, car was too low, he sore the frontmount at the front, they herd the bov when i was driving, they checked out the leather interior and my subway handles on the hand rails, they could see all my pilar and dash gauges, shiftlight, safc, boost controller, e-brake drift button, turbotimer, numberplate off angle not to mention i looked like a drug dealer with my shaved head, earings and dolce sunnies on :rofl2:

don't know how some of you guys must be communicating to these guys (and don't get me wrong i know i got a good guy and their are some real power trippers out their) but maybe a attitute change is needed by some people?

Off-topic Joel, but what's your job at the school? You got off pretty well I'll say :rofl2:

Got RBT'ed last Friday night in 2 different locations. Was tested with no questions asked, but they were just staring like hawks as I took off lol

hey owens, yea definitely got off easy but i think they understood i wasn't a hoon and i think their reasoning for pulling me over was fairly valid :rofl2:

im a Network Admin at the school :rofl2: just some solid industry placement while i finish off uni

Ha, I'm also a network admin at a highschool down here in Wollongong :P

What school do you work at down here?

High School I used to go to, my mate and I used to be the network admin team! Network went to shit when we left and they had to employ someone... LOL

Does your school ever buy IT stuff locally? I know the school I was at (About 5/6 years ago now) did.

haha, yeah not many schools can survive without someone there constantly and has knowledge of maintaining a network. I work at Albion Park high.

We buy alot of IT stuff through DET contracts and online websites like Megabuy because they have a wider selection and pretty cheap too.

Bought stuff locally a few times in the past but found them to be slow/expensive/limited to specific things we need.

    • Yeah, it's getting like that, my daughter is coming over on Thursday to help me remove the bonnet so I can install the Carbuilders underbonnet stuff,  I might get her to give me a hand and remove the hardtop, maybe, because on really hot days the detachable hardtop helps the aircon keep the interior cool, the heat just punches straight through to rag top I also don't have enough hair for the "wind in the hair" experience, so there is that....LOL
    • Could be falling edge/rising edge is set wrong. Are you getting sync errors?
    • On BMWs what I do because I'm more confident that I can't instantly crush the pinch welds and do thousands of USD in chassis damage is use a set of rubber jacking pads designed to protect the chassis/plastic adapter and raise a corner of the car, place the aforementioned 2x12 inch wooden planks under a tire, drop the car, then this normally gives me enough clearance to get to the front central jack point. If you don't need it to be a ramp it only needs to be 1-1.5 feet long. On my R33 I do not trust the pinch welds to tolerate any of this so I drive up on the ramps. Before then when I had to get a new floor jack that no longer cleared the front lip I removed it to get enough clearance to put the jack under it. Once you're on the ramps once you simply never let the car down to the ground. It lives on the ramps or on jack stands.
    • Nah. You need 2x taps for anything that you cannot pass the tap all the way through. And even then, there's a point in response to the above which I will come back to. The 2x taps are 1x tapered for starting, and 1x plug tap for working to the bottom of blind holes. That block's port is effectively a blind hole from the perspective of the tap. The tapered tap/tapered thread response. You don't ever leave a female hole tapered. They are supposed to be parallel, hence the wide section of a tapered tap being parallel, the existince of plug taps, etc. The male is tapered so that it will eventually get too fat for the female thread, and yes, there is some risk if the tapped length of the female hole doesn't offer enough threads, that it will not lock up very nicely. But you can always buzz off the extra length on the male thread, and the tape is very good at adding bulk to the joint.
    • Nice....looking forward to that update
