Lack of editing smokes c0ck.

Reason being we have dodgy traders editing their posts so its harder for us to track down goods sold, what type and so on.

Then keep it to the For Sale section i reckon. New comers are chastised to use the search button, to respect SAU as a "encyclopedia" sorts. As such, to keep it neat, and on track, i believe one should be able edit their posts. "Procedure like" threads like DIY's are a good example of where it wont work when the OP starts adding new updated posts imo.

if you guys are so worried about not being able to edit your post SUPPORT the site that supports you make a donation and all your problems are solved

Ohhhh nooow i see whats going on here, so sneaaky

Last time tried to make a donation, mods never got back to me. Maybe second time lucky lol...

I thought it was only For Sale areas... :P

If its the whole forum... that is a small problem.

But with the redesign of For Sale this could well be sorted out and this a interim measure only

Seems not so mang - Beling an avid fan of "user feedback" systems, id like to again, display my dislike regarding this editing shite ;)

It just bit me again, where i posted, hours later checked a thread, only to notice an error.

Again, if SAU is to be a proper information library thats searched... it needs to be update'able.. like wikipedia :P I woulda thought a track change log is kept in case of some dispute on for sale thread IE.

sure you can- just pm the moderators of that section. or use the "repoort this post" button it does the same thing

I've used the report this post option and had no action or response....and would like to get my personal details etc taken down from a for sale post as I have taken my car off the market.

we'll you been a user of SAU for 4 years now, and don't think its fair or right to contribute to the community that helps you

yet feel quiet at home bitching about something you don't want to contribute too

i say DEAL with it

For starters u slapper, I'm quiet sure you have no f ucking idea what i think, as your attempt at profiling me and my feelings for SAU, couldn't be further off the mark.

I feel i have contributed more then my fair share with assisting others, giving my opinions, reporting suspect users / posts, creating helpful DIY's and spewing general forum banter. The 1000's of hours painstakingly taking pictures and double checking information when posting i think, outways a $50 dollar donation.

Alas your comments on contribution are made laughable for a person who's seemingly spent the majority of his 4yrs and 6000 posts lurking in mostly trashy NON SKYLINE related sections of the S.A. Wasteland. SAU is known worldwide for its technical information accuracy and hard stance on wankers; editing issues could stand to effect these quality technical threads and posts, not threads discussing youtube clips and breast implants.

For the record, have twice attempted to donate but come across procedural issues both times. Admitally I should spend some time, talk to a mod and work through wiring a few 100 bux.

response / rant over.

hey sorry if i made a generalisation about you without even know what you've done for the community i now know how that feels

and how quickly the hunter has become the hunted

as of tonight i cannot edit old posts either has I've been organising an event and cant add people any more to the first post

Thanks man - no stress.

Seems even those who'av made a contribution are having issues editing. The mods must have some work on their hands.

well as far as I can tell the whole 'donators can edit' feature was a mistake, and it has not been advertised as a benefit of donating. the main benefit of donating is it keeps our lovely foum alive. :D it also has other lesser benefits like more pm space and a warm feeling inside.

as I understand it the intention of the no edit feature was that it covers everybody. I think a little glitch allowed donators to get around it for a while. I know it's a bit inconvenient but there are other forums I can thnk of off the top of my head that have this 2 hour edit window on them and it hasn't hurt my enjoyment of those forums at all.

if you have a post you want edited, either to update info, or fix spelling mistakes or whatever reason, simply hit the report post button on your post state what you want changed and the relevant section mod will fix it up. :)

Half of them are unwarranted updates anyhow actually, it wont be that bad. I have not had one PM surrounding this since it was introduced. :bunny:

People trying to edit details out of thier for sale item will just be ignored anyhow

I'm against it also, it's a pain if your trying to run a group buy and you need to always update the first post in order add the members and their names to the list.

Therefore if your selling something and you want to reduce the price or change the information or add pictures etc. you cant do it :S

And you don't have to open a new topic if you want to sell an item that is similar with your other items for sale in the same thread.

As a result by not opening a new thread SAU will save on storage costs because new threads won't be constantly posted.

I read that if you donate it solves the editing problem, but I have and still I can't edit :S

mistake or not i think that should be a reward for donating, I'm well aware that we get bigger PM boxes

but most of us regulars don't abuse the edit function and especially those of us that are committed to the website (you know who you are)

as Pablo has pointed out it makes a group buy very messy if you have to keep adding new members to the group buy @ the end of 20 pages of people asking questions about the product your selling

I cant edit my group buy or for sale threads.. would be a lot more simple and less messy if I could. I've also donated to the forum (even before this whole 2 hour thing started)

Simple, if your worried about dodgy traders, BAN THEM!! Why punish the rest of us for crap like this... im sure most of the SAU will agree with me here!!

This new system will only slow things down... messy threads suck ass... and dont carry on about making a donation, big woop! Seriously what is this, a CHURCH! :)

And thats my rant! :(

    • As discussed in the previous post, the bushes in the 110 needed replacing. I took this opportunity to replace the castor bushes, the front lower control arm, lower the car and get the alignment dialled in with new tyres. I took it down to Alignment Motorsports on the GC to get this work done and also get more out of the Shockworks as I felt like I wasn't getting the full use out of them.  To cut a very long story short, it ended up being the case the passenger side castor arm wouldn't accept the brand new bush as the sleeve had worn badly enough to the point you could push the new bush in by hand and completely through. Trying a pair of TRD bushes didn't fix the issue either (I had originally gone with Hardrace bushes). We needed to urgently source another castor arm, and thankfully this was sourced and the guys at the shop worked on my car until 7pm on a Saturday to get everything done. The car rides a lot nicer now with the suspension dialled in properly. Lowered the car a little as well to suit the lower profile front tyres, and just bring the car down generally. Eternally thankful for the guys down at the shop to get the car sorted, we both pulled big favours from our contacts to get it done on the Saturday.  Also plugged in the new Stedi foglights into the S15, and even from a quick test in the garage I'm keen to see how they look out on the road. I had some concerns about the length of the LED body and whether it'd fit in the foglight housing but it's fine.  I've got a small window coming up next month where I'll likely get a little paint work done on the 110 to remove the rear wing, add a boot wing and roof wing, get the side skirt fixed up and colour match the little panel on the tail lights so that I can install some badges that I've kept in storage. I'm also tempted to put in a new pair of headlights on the 110.  Until then, here's some more pictures from Easter this year.
    • I would put a fuel pressure gauge between the filter and the fuel rail, see if it's maintaining good fuel pressure at idle going up to the point when it stalls. Do you see any strange behavior in commanded fuel leading up to the point when it stalls? You might have to start going through the service manual and doing a long list of sensor tests if it's not the fuel system for whatever reason.
    • Hi,  Just joined the forum so I could share my "fix" of this problem. Might be of use to someone. Had the same hunting at idle issue on my V36 with VQ35HR engine after swapping the engine because the original one got overheated.  While changing the engine I made the mistake of cleaning the throttle bodies and tried all the tricks i could find to do a throttle relearn with no luck. Gave in and took it to a shop and they couldn't sort it. Then took it to my local Nissan dealership and they couldn't get it to idle properly. They said I'd need to replace the throttle bodies and the ecu probably costing more than the car is worth. So I had the idea of replacing the carbon I cleaned out with a thin layer of super glue and it's back to normal idle now. Bit rough but saved the car from the wreckers 🤣
    • After my last update, I went ahead with cleaning and restoring the entire fuel system. This included removing the tank and cleaning it with the Beyond Balistics solution, power washing it multiple times, drying it thoroughly, rinsing with IPA, drying again with heat gun and compressed air. Also, cleaning out the lines, fuel rail, and replacing the fuel pump with an OEM-style one. During the cleaning process, I replaced several hoses - including the breather hose on the fuel tank, which turned out to be the cause of the earlier fuel leak. This is what the old fuel filter looked like: Fuel tank before cleaning: Dirty Fuel Tank.mp4   Fuel tank after cleaning (some staining remains): Clean Fuel Tank.mp4 Both the OEM 270cc and new DeatschWerks 550cc injectors were cleaned professionally by a shop. Before reassembling everything, I tested the fuel flow by running the pump output into a container at the fuel filter location - flow looked good. I then fitted the new fuel filter and reassembled the rest of the system. Fuel Flow Test.mp4 Test 1 - 550cc injectors Ran the new fuel pump with its supplied diagonal strainer (different from OEM’s flat strainer) and my 550cc injectors using the same resized-injector map I had successfully used before. At first, it idled roughly and stalled when I applied throttle. Checked the spark plugs and found that they were fouled with carbon (likely from the earlier overly rich running when the injectors were clogged). After cleaning the plugs, the car started fine. However, it would only idle for 30–60 seconds before stalling, and while driving it would feel like a “fuel cut” after a few seconds - though it wouldn’t fully stall. Test 2 – Strainer swap Suspecting the diagonal strainer might not be reaching the tank bottom, I swapped it for the original flat strainer and filled the tank with ~45L of fuel. The issue persisted exactly the same. Test 3 – OEM injectors To eliminate tuning variables, I reinstalled the OEM 270cc injectors and reverted to the original map. Cleaned the spark plugs again just in-case. The stalling and “fuel cut” still remained.   At this stage, I suspect an intermittent power or connection fault at the fuel pump hanger, caused during the cleaning process. This has led me to look into getting Frenchy’s fuel hanger and replacing the unit entirely. TL;DR: Cleaned and restored the fuel system (tank, lines, rail, pump). Tested 550cc injectors with the same resized-injector map as before, but the car stalls at idle and experiences what feels like “fuel cut” after a few seconds of driving. Swapped back to OEM injectors with original map to rule out tuning, but the issue persists. Now suspecting an intermittent power or connection fault at the fuel pump hanger, possibly cause by the cleaning process.
