Was a sporting event, guy with a 300zx (who was driving it quite well actually, they can are pretty decent cars), had some coolant leaking out the front

"oh well, its leaking from somewhere in there".

Multiple bits to come off just to check out the hoses

That is when you need to take the engine out. :P

Ever bled the clutch on one of those kunce, fkn mission.

Engine out.

yep, replaced the slave cylinder & bleed the clutch in my drive, with the missus, in under an hour. Surprisingly managed to leave the engine where nissan intended too :P

as for specialist mech's how many do you need? Most people do the majority of work themselves anyway but for example in vic theres 3 in melbourne (glen iris, vermont, bullen) & another in geelong.

There's enough info in the aus300zx tech section to do pretty much anything yourself anyway.

end of the day they're fairly different cars but you can have a really nice TT zed for mid teens.

engine out

Lidz, really man, would you say that a 300 is easier to live with and maintain than a GTR?

its pretty easy to maintain an R, nothing has gone wrong so far, other than the aircon, which has partially been solved by a piece of paper, and clutch, which has been fixed.

there's a lot of space in the engine bay too, so no need for engine out.

no idea dude, never owned a gtr (wouldn't say no though!), all I'm saying is 300's aren't as bad as all the people that dont own them like to say... like I said 7yrs owning one, mostly dailyed, & the only drama was a wonky afm. took the engine out to change it though

whichever way the op goes though as long as he spends the coin to buy a decent one rather than a clapped out cheapy he's going to get a really nice car.

Tim, the OP's got $20K to burn, so you're pretty much guaranteed he's gonna end up with a 20 year old car that came in under the 15 year rule that was once owned by a 17 year old.

its engine in all the way for me

I have a 300zx and did a top end rebuild with the engine still in the ca,r so i took every thing out except the engine block. i did it all in a week, thats with sending the heads in to get reconditioned They arnt the hardest car in the world to work on.

I have seen road tests between the gtr and the 300zx.The 300zx is faster in a straight line but gets beat bad in the corners. They suffer body flex with the targer roofs. Saying all that i would swap it for a gtr any day

sooo instead of taking the engine out you took the car out? man you must really hate engine outs.

    • Hello!  i just finished manual swaping my r34 skyline with a r33 rb20de box(RB71C)box  When the car is running it squeaks crazy loud and it was smoking from the gearbox area. The gearbox is fine it was tested. The clutch slave cylinder seems like it doesn't fully releases the clutch. I want to ask if this noise is from the throw out bearing or could it be the clutch assembly or disk att.xFliq87Gzw6kImKBVqDebXkj0fBqymk0JaYeP3_3SlM.mp4
    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
