lol, its not meant to be easy mate - he's not getting lapped.

I doubt it would have taken Schumacher in a McLaren 27 laps to pass Hamilton in a Mercedes... Schumacher made him look very ordinary. As did Jenson for that matter! And that's before we even mention the restart where the oldest bloke in the field caught the young star napping... Maybe Hamilton should hang up the gloves if he can't pass this old washed up bloke in less than 27 laps.

i think DRS at monza was a bit of a let down. the fact that so many people were sitting on the limiter it made it a bit of a useless assist (as proved by hamo).

was good to hear that the commentators are also sick of the tools finger

Interesting article, some more qualified views than ours on the controversy too.

bbc.co.uk/blogs/andrewbenson/2011/09/post_2.html

ahh schuey made that race exciting, hamo was just trying to finish for once.

we should all invest in a fast private Uk proxy... no more adds on one hd, and i'd like a hd looking stream :)

Yes, however was Jensen running a different 7th gear. He was clearly not on the rev limiter when he blew past Schuey.

Ahh shit, I am defending Lewis now. :yucky:

that's not defending Hamilton, it's pointing out one of his mistakes.

Can u actualy buy a stream to watch that doesnt lag etc etc. Id be keen.

Also they talk about "red button" on the set top

Box.

Or is onehd and shitty streams gna b my only go?

well we could get a decent proxy, and just watch it on bbc.co.uk/sport or wherever the link is.. tho i am not sure on the quality on there.

i usually watch streams online that dont lag ever, but the quality isnt 100% tho everything on screen is still readable.

one hd stream is just as bad as watching one hd.. would be good if some smarty could hack in and stea.... borrow the stream that one hd get..

yeah no one forced hamilton into whatever ratio he chose. just like everyone else it's a compromise between faster acceleration (good overall lap time) or higher top speed (great for passing and defending but not so good overall). and vettel made the same compromise work for him (got I hate saying that).

schuey V2 might not be what he was but he's still got some spark left.

and unlike vettel he didn't walk into the best car on the grid straight out of primary school. schuey built that team from nothing and then reaped rewards from his years of hard work. people might have gotten sick of ferrari pounding everyone and cheating like the little buggers they are but the fact is 'till schuey and brawn and company came along they had been no-where.

at that point no one could build a team like schuey/brawn/todt. and it kept on working for close enough to 10 years. lets not forget scheuy very nearly won his last WDC in his last year at ferrari to make it 8 WDC (apart from the 7 WDCs he was 3rd 3 times, and 2nd twice including that last year at Ferrari in 2006). So it's fair to say but for a few little fckups it's not hard to imagine he'd have been a 12 time world champion....

not bad for a german with a chin so big he can't see down to do up his own belts!

and I'm with harry, he schooled hamilton on how to race hard. he didn't put him in the wall or damage his car. yes he may have squeezed him a bit but as harry said hamilton was pretty cheeky to think he'd get down the inside there and with only his front wing and schueys rear tyres schuey had every right to shut the door. given how fast things happen when schuey decided to shut the door hamilton was probably still a bit behind him. things happen fast at 300km/h...

Overwhelmingly it is the engineers who decide that stuff. Vettel went short on the ratios and he got away with it because of his qualifying. It did not affect his race. I still cant figure out how you can be into the limiter for so long and still spank everyone by 0.5 seconds.

Yeah, fair point. I mean who had heard of Ferrari before Schumacher came along. What had they ever achieved?

Schumacher did the same thing he has done any number of times. Doesn't make it right, however.

If he didnt put Hamilton into the wall it is only because Hamilton somehow gathered it all up on the grass at god only knows how many hundred km/h.

Anyway todays question should be who should MB sign to replace Schumacher. Preferably someone who can keep up with Rosberg.

Hamilton's problem with passing is just like Webber's problem with starting, so constant and reoccuring that it is obvious to all I would have thought. And Schumaker has been passed by everyone this season including by a couple of grid girls. Add those two together and it should be clear what the situation was at Monza with H trying to pass S.

easy. its like drag racing. its about your average speed down the straight. accelleration in the first half of the straight is better than in the second half because every mph you put on earlier is carried for a longer distance.

Hamilton's gearing was probably better for laptimes, and he was banking on being ahead of Vettel at the 1st turn thanks to starting on the clean side. Alonso ruined that plan.

Schumacher's gearing was probably based on him making a few spots on the start, as he usually does, and then being able to hold onto the positions by outdragging everyone - you've got to play to your strengths, and corners are not the Merc's strong suits.

And Schumaker has been passed by everyone this season including by a couple of grid girls.

he's not in the list of most overtaken, but he has done more than his fair share of passing. from cliptheapex...

Most overtaking moves (season):

Jenson Button 67

Michael Schumacher 59

Mark Webber 58

Felipe Massa 55

Sebastien Buemi 52

yes yes ferrari were a great team but they had not won a constructors title since 1982 when schuey came along and won with them in 1999 (though they got 2nd in his first 2 years no thanks to irvine).. and they had not had a driver of theirs win a drivers championship since the 70s (with lauda and schekter) ffs when schuey won it in 2000. so given 20 years of no ferrari driver having held a WDC I think it's fair to say scheuy was a big part of turning those guys around. Mclaren and williams (and briefly scheuy in his benneton) had been spanking ferraris for the whole of the 80s and 90s.

it's not even remotely like what happened to vettel. he walked into a team that had just hit it's straps with the most money, best car, good engine, best aero and a great stable development team (including webber) to push it onwards.

Yeah I was just shit stirring Baron. Ferrari was rubbish because it was so disorganised. They should have won atleast half of the WDC's between Scheckter & Schumacher. Not like they were lacking for anything.

Anyway on the upside Jody is busy these days:

    • Update 3: Hi all It's been a while. Quite a lot of things happened in the meantime, among other things the car is (almost) back together and ready to be started again. Things that I fixed or changed: Full turbo removal, fitting back the OEM turbo oil hardlines. Had to do quite a bit of research and parts shopping to get every last piece that I need and make it work with the GT2860 turbos, but it does work and is not hard to do. Proves that the previous owner(s) just did not want to. While I was there I set the preload for the wastegates to 0,9bar to hopefully make it easier for the tuner to hit the 370hp I need for the legal inspections that will follow later on. Boost can always go up if necessary. Fitted a AN10 line from the catch can to the intake hose to make the catchcan and hopefully the cam covers a slight vacuum to have less restrictive oil returns from the head and not have mud build up as harshly in the lines and catch can. Removed the entire front interior just shy of the dashboard itself to clean up some of the absolutely horrendous wiring, (hopefully) fix the bumpy tacho and put in LED bulbs while I was there. Also put in bulbs where there was none before, like the airbag one. I also used that chance to remove the LED rpm gauge on the steering column, which was also wired in absolute horror show fashion. Moved the 4in1 Prosport gauge from sitting in front of the OEM oil pressure gauge to the center console vents, I used a 3D printed vent piece to hold that gauge there. The HKB steering wheel boss was likely on incorrectly as I sometimes noticed the indicator reset being uneven for left vs. right. In the meantime also installed an airbag delete resistor, as one should. Installed Cube Speed premium short shifter. Feels pretty nice, hope it'll work great too when I actually get to drive. Also put on a fancy Dragon Ball shift knob, cause why not. My buddy was kind enough to weld the rust hole in the back, it was basically rusted through in the lowermost corner of the passenger side trunk area where the wheel arch, trunk panel and rear quarter all meet. Obviously there is still a lot of crustiness in various areas but as long as it's not rusted out I'll just treat and isolate the corrosion and pretend it's not there. Also had to put down a new ground wire for the rear subframe as the original one was BARELY there. Probably a bit controversial depending on who you ask about this... but I ended up just covering the crack in the side of the engine block, the one above the oil feed, with JB Weld. I used a generous amount and roughed up the whole area with a Dremel before, so I hope this will hold the coolant where it should be for the foreseeable future. Did a cam cover gasket job as the half moons were a bit leaky, and there too one could see the people who worked on this car before me were absolute tools. The same half moons were probably used like 3 times without even cleaning the old RTV off. Dremeled out the inside of the flange where the turbine housing mates onto the exhaust manifolds so the diameter matches, as the OEM exhaust manifolds are even narrower than the turbine housings as we all know. Even if this doesn't do much, I had them out anyways, so can't harm. Ideally one would port-match both the turbo and the manifold to the gasket size but I really didn't feel up to disassembling the turbine housings. Wrapped turbo outlet dumps in heat wrap band. Will do the frontpipe again as well as now the oil leak which promted me to tear apart half the engine in the first place is hopefully fixed. Fitted an ATI super damper to get rid of the worn old harmonic balancer. Surely one of the easiest and most worth to do mods. But torquing that ARP bolt to spec was a bitch without being able to lock the flywheel. Did some minor adjustments in the ECU tables to change some things I didn't like, like the launch control that was ALWAYS active. Treated rusty spots and surface corrosion on places I could get to and on many spots under the car, not pretty or ideal but good enough for now. Removed the N1 rear spats and the carbon surrounding for the tailpipe to put them back on with new adhesive as the old one was lifting in many spots, not pretty. Took out the passenger rear lamp housing... what do you know. Amateur work screwed me again here as they were glued in hard and removing it took a lot of force, so I broke one of the housing bolts off. And when removing the adhesive from the chassis the paint came right off too. Thankfully all the damaged area won't be visible later, but whoever did the very limited bodywork on this car needs to have their limbs chopped off piece by piece.   Quite a list if I do say so myself, but a lot of time was spent just discovering new shit that is wrong with the car and finding a solution or parts to fix it. My last problem that I now have the headache of dealing with is that the exhaust studs on the turbo outlets are M10x1.25 threaded, but the previous owner already put on regular M10 nuts so the threads are... weird. I only found this out the hard way. So now I will just try if I can in any way fit the front pipe regardless, if not I'll have to redo the studs with the turbos installed. Lesson learned for the future: Redo ALL studs you put your hands on, especially if they are old and the previous owners were inept maniacs. Thanks for reading if you did, will update when the engine runs again. Hope nothing breaks or leaks and I can do a test drive.
    • No those pads are DBA too  but they have colors too. I look at the and imo the green "street" are the best.
    • I’m not sure what happened I told them about sonic tunes free OTS tune and the next the I know .. I was booted..   To funny
    • Yea - I mean I've seen my fuel pump which is decades old and uh, while I'm not saying this with real knowledge... but I sure get the ick at using anything in the fuel system that produced the state of that pump. Many years ago I went through multiple pumps (and strainers) before I dropped the tank to clean it out with extreme violence. I'm talking the car would do maybe 50km before coming to a halt, which resulted in me cleaning out the filter with some brake cleaner and going on my way. None of my stuff ever looked like what came out of your fuel tank. I don't think I'd be happy with it unless every single component was replaced (or at least checked/cleaned/confirmed to be clean here).
