Mini's fall over all the time.

So many nice toys on MY105.

If I had my time again before I started building the Zed. AND could lose 25KG, I would have one of these.

real race cars ROCK.

F3 cars with you losing 25kg's,,,,you still won't fit tiger,,,drivers need to be no more than 70 mate with a small arse.

News Flash,,,the Mini Cup finishes this weekend,,,wonder whats going to happen with the cars???.

NA cars are only there for the biggest revheads who have $$$ or motorsport.

NA would mostly be used in motor sport for class restrictions as a forced induction would make you play with the big boys.

but still, it would be fun building a nice NA car, but unless you have a spare 30k for a proper engien setup, id say no.

my dad built his own beetle when he was an apprentice, the old 1000cc bug, he raised compression only and used harder springs, he was pushing 140bhp with a comp ratio of 13.5:1.

a nice NA car would be a TNT King Viper.

But actually, i remember a guy a couple fo years back, who had alot of cash, back in germany on the forums , who modified his golf mk2 16v engine, he removed of his cams and replaced it with electronic lifters, rebuilt his head to run 14:1 compression and whole heap more, he managed to pull out a max of 340hp.

i guess the best NA car out there, ever to be built, are M-Power cars, if you want to go all out a e30 m3 would be the best, cant beat that. or if you have lots of cash and no worries, buy a M1 :P

im currently building a mk2 golf, with a bit of NA tuning and hoping to hit the 180-200hp

My S13 was NA when i got it.

Made about 120rwkw and was completely stripped.

It was fun, I really enjoyed driving it and pissing off the turbo boys when i posted quicker times than they did.

Totally reliable as well. No maintenance required between track days, it didn't use brake pads, it didn't cook the oil, unlike my previous skyline.

The only problem i found was on a regular track day the heros wouldn't get out of the way and i didn't have the power to get past them on the straights. I could be fair up their arse from the first to the last corner, but they'd pull 10+ car lengths on me down the straight....Not a major issue, but when you spend every second lap dropping back far enough to have a clean run it gets pretty frustrating.

Is it not back next year Neil?

No mate it's all over red rover. It was costing way to much money. Apparently some marketing nood at BMW/Mini thought it would make money,,,alas he learned a valueable lesson didn't he.

Mini's have an achelles heal,,,they run that stupid twin mass flywheel and a crappy clutch combo. Alajajian was telling me they would change or at least check the whole assembly after every race meeting. Would be a great track car with simply getting that crap sorted.

Cheers

Neil.

That's a shame, I really liked the Mini's as a support category. Quite good racing and pretty cool looking little things.

It will bevery interesting to see how much they come up at. I agree, I think they'd make a great track car with proven ability and already setup and raring to go.

They are moving to Suzuki Swifts for next year from what I hear, No where near as cool as the Minis lol

Ahhh yep, I saw one on my105. Hopefully still some good racing.

I'm currantly in the process of thinking of building a Datsun 510 with an NA SR20! 180kw in an under 1000kg car! should do some fair good times!??

Very cool! S15 Autech engine?

    • The issue now is the 'fuel cut' while driving, and when it happend, it does not stall. This, I did not test the fuel pressure while driving as I cannot with a fuel pressure gauge. I do have Nistune logs, yes. I have also replaced the MAF Sensor.   Also related to the FPG Fuel Hanger – I just realized that I need a Deutsch Crimp Tool to crimp some cables for the FPG Fuel Hanger. Need to purchase additional cables as the kit only included 2, which are for the float. FPG has not responded to my emails so far since purchasing. I thought about taking it to someone and having it done professionally, but I am reluctant since everyone I took it to messed up in some way.
    • There's a good German place in Brisbane if youre up for the drive 😛
    • The German place in Cabramatta was rock solid, fresh pretzel cooked to order back then. Then it went all quiet, after all the poker machines were removed, then I believe it closed for good. I did drive past the other week and noticed outdoor lighting a big screen, but no idea what is there now.
    • Yeah I suspect even if you hold airmass per cycle/cylinder constant if you get too far away from stock you're still going to have problems running the factory tune within the bounds of the factory load scale. Cams, different displacement/rod ratio, etc. I'm just lucky that the GTIII-SS with wastegate boost + CA compliance cats is pretty much equivalent to stock turbos. When I have actual space I can finally get it tuned and modify the fuel system for flex fuel to 100% handle any detonation concerns when cranking the boost to whatever those dinky turbos can put out.
    • I would say no, why, because my daughter, who also lives in Goulburn, hasn't recommended us going there Pity, as we miss all the German joints around in Sydney, actually, the restaurants are the only thing I really miss about Sydney, and a special mention to Ishibanboshi at Bondi Junction, their Kara-age Don is heart cloggingly deliciousness (always added a special boiled egg...or 2) 😋
