"dimple" Neodymium Magnetic Drain Plug Group Buy #2!

Recommended Posts

Hey guys

As promised here is the second group buy for the Dimple Neodymium magnetic drain plugs. This time we will also do an order for not only the Dimple sump plugs, but also for the diff plugs, gearbox plugs and the Black Hole oil filter magnets.

I'm still awaiting confirmation for the size of the diff and gearbox plugs, however I should have it this week. Either way I will start taking the numbers for them and if anything changes I will let every one know.

For the new guys, please have a read of the first post I made in the old thread for a good understanding of what Dimple plugs are all about, how they work and how they differ from typical cheap magnetic drain plugs:

Dimple Group Buy #1 Information

I'm anticipating this group buy to fill quick so if you want one please put your name down ASAP! The last one filled incredibly quickly.

BLACK HOLE FILTER MAGNETS

These are new from Dimple and in essence are Neodymium magnets that are put on the outside of the oil filter for added protection.

Our Black Hole oil filter magnets attach to the outside of the oil filter canister in a random position around the center of the oil filter body. The oil enters the oil filter body from the outer diameter holes, when the oil flows through the oil filter the Black Holes immediately suck out any trace of ferrous metal particles out of the oil, before it even has a chance to hit the filter media! This keeps the media clear of excessive particles and the filter will have more room to store other non ferrous junk. When you change the oil filter at service time.....simply remove the 6 Black Holes and put them on your new oil filter.

So in essence you buy them once, and for the rest of your life you can re-use them on every oil filter you buy. Ends up turning out cheaper compared to buying magnetic oil filters every time.

Pricing wise there will be a slight change from the previous group buy. Last time I sent them with normal freight to every one but couldn't send them in the vials that they come in due to thickness restrictions. This time I want to send them in express post satchels so they arrive to every one as quickly as possible and so I can get tracking numbers for all of them. This will benefit people that are getting more than one plug as I can fit heaps into one of the express post satchels (up to 500g).

So pricing is as follows:

1 Dimple item - $35 Delivered Australia wide

2 or more items - $35 Delivered Australia wide for the first item + $30 extra for each additional item

Eg. 2 Dimple items - $65 Delivered

Eg. 3 Dimple items - $95 Delivered

I'm sure you can all understand that, it's pretty simple.

I think I will limit them to 20 per plug and 10 for the Black Holes, but depending on how the group buy goes I may reduce the amount. However the minimum amount for the group buy to go ahead is 20 items.

I will keep the group buy open until the 13/12/10 but the date may change dependent on how things go (they always end up closing a lot earlier). I will than require payment within one week from the group buy closing and will transfer the money to the US. They will obviously arrive after Christmas however I would like to get them sent out from the US before Richard shuts for Christmas holidays.

The people that registered interest in the first group buy thread will get first choice on what they want to keep things fair.

Please feel free to ask any questions.

Cheers guys.

Phil

Yes JZA80 is the same sump plug M12x1.25 (My mate is getting one for his in this batch because he was pissed off I didn't get him one lol)

Yeah I think i'm going to have to PM them. I didn't want to add every one onto the list initially just in case people have changed their mind or something.

Yes the Black Holes are a set of 6 as pictured :/

So if you order 2, that means you get 12 magnets.

Ill pay now so its one less thing to worry about. Same details?

Yep same details.

Ok, I sent every one in the old thread a PM regarding the new group buy being open. If I have missed any one I am sorry, but it is very late and GT5 is occupying my time :/

F**k me dead this is filling quickly! I have extended the Black Holes to a batch of 20 since it has allready filled the 10 spots lol.

I think I will message Richard tomorrow and speak to him regarding freight for 80 damn products. We might have to send them in two seperate boxes a week apart or something to avoid a customs hit.

As in the transfer case?

Elite Racing said they are a different size to the diff/gearbox. So once again I need some one to tell me lol.

Also is the front diff the same size plug as the rear diff? Best bet would be to just jump under the car and have a quick look.

Not sure how many I need but it seems ppl are getting 1

Of everything and 2x for filters. So put me down for that.

Rb26/30

Er34 chassis.

If anyone can advise that be great. Thanks Paul!!

    • Cheers. Skyline is back on the menu, can’t get rid of it. It’s like a child you don’t want, or herpes
    • I got back to Japan in January and was keen to get back on track as quickly as possible. Europe is god-awful for track accessibility (by comparison), so I picked up a first-gen GT86 in December just to have something I could jump into right away. The Skyline came over in a container this time and landed in early January. It was a bit battered after Europe, though—I refused to do anything beyond essential upkeep while it was over there. The clutch master cylinder gave out, and so did the power steering. I didn’t even bother changing the oil; it was the same stuff that went in just before I left Japan the first time. Naughty. Power steering parts would’ve cost double with shipping and taxes, so knowing I’d be heading back to Japan, I just postponed it and powered through the arm workout. It took a solid three months to get the car back on the road. Registration was a nightmare this time around. There were a bunch of BS fees to navigate, and sourcing parts was a headache. I needed stock seats for shaken, mistakenly blew 34k JPY on some ENR34 seats—which, of course, didn’t fit—then ended up having the car’s technical sheet amended to register it as a two-seater with the Brides. Then there’s the GT86. Amazing car. Does everything I want it to do. Parts are cheap, easy to find, and I don’t care what anyone says—it’s super rewarding to drive. I’ve done a few basic mods: diff ratio, coilovers, discs, pads, seat, etc. It already had a new exhaust manifold and the 180kph limiter removed, so I assume it’s running some kind of map. I’ve just been thrashing it at the track non-stop—mostly Fuji Speedway now, since I need something with higher speed after all that autobahn time. The wheels on the R34 always pissed me off—too big, and it was a nightmare getting tires to fit properly under the arches. So I threw in the towel and bought something that fits better. Looks way cleaner too (at least to me)—less hotboy, less attention-seeking. Still an R34, though. Now for future plans. There are a few things still outstanding with the car. First up, the rear subframe needs an overhaul—that’s priority one. Next, I need to figure out an engine rebuild plan. No timeline yet, but I want to keep it economical—not cutting corners, just not throwing tens of thousands at a mechanic I can barely communicate with. And finally, paint. Plus a bit of tidying up here and there.
    • Nope, needed to clearance under the bar a little with a heat gun, a 1/2" extension as the "clearancer", and big hammer, I was aware of this from the onset, they fit a 2.0 with this intake no problems, but, the 2.5 is around 15mm taller than a 2.0, so "clearancing" was required  It "just" touched when test fitting, now, I have about 10mm of clearance  You cannot see where it was done, and so far, there's no contact when giving it the beans Happy days
    • It's been a while since I've updated this thread. The last year (and some) has been very hectic. In the second-half of 2024 I took the R34 on a trip through Germany, Italy, France and Switzerland - it was f*cking great. I got a little annoyed with the attention the car was getting around Europe and really didn't drive it that much. I could barely work on the car since I was living in an inner-city apartment (with underground parking). During the trip, the car lost power steering in France - split hose - and I ended up driving around 4,000kms with no power steering.  There were a few Nurburgring trips here and there, but in total the R34 amassed just shy of 7,000kms on European roads. Long story short, I broke up with the reason I was transferred to Europe for and requested to be moved back to Japan. The E90, loved it. It was a sunk cost of around EUR 10,000 and I sold it to a friend for EUR 1,500 just to get rid of it quickly. Trust me, moving countries f*cking sucks and I could not be bothered to be as methodical as I was the first time around.
