Suspended Vic License, Can I Drive In Qld?

If they asked you to hand over you license that pretty much means you're left with(even if you don't hand it in)... well... 1 - 1 = 0... Zero license. I think in other states you most likely need some sort of license. If you had an international license that's most likely where it will come in handy.

based on everyones comments above id say not, call vicroads to be sure.

yer im gunna have to, its hard thou due to working weekdays during there opening hours..will try during my break tomorow.

The answer is that you are suspended and can't drive anywhere in Australia legally. In response to Charlie's post if you got overseas D/L now you would still be suspended as Vic D/L overrides the international one. I have personally charged someone with that.

Here in WA they can find out but it's just more difficult. They are preparing a national licence scheme but in the mean time one state's suspension is valid in another state's.

On the contrary though, if you obtain an extraordinary licence or type of hardship licence as they may be called elsewhere that is only valid in the state of issue, so you must obtain one for each state you intend to travel. Have had clients that were long haulage drivers in trouble for interstate travel.

nah , that would make too much sense.
read the regs. if its lost its lost. I hold two licences are it clearly states that international or not if you lose it all are invalid.

You know, I once lost my license in QLD but I was able to keep driving in Vic, just to throw it out there.

Though this was due to a speeding fine in QLD, which was paid, but because they couldn't find my license in QLD they just banned me from driving there for 3 months, going by the letter they sent me back home in Vic.

NFI if that applies or not, because I didn't get pulled over in the subsequent 3 months in Victoria, and the demerit points did find their way to my VIC license, so I guess they found it in the end?

This was in 2014.

You didn't lose your Vic license. You were just "banned"** from driving in QLD for the period.

**It's arguable that there really was no such ban and/or it was unenforceable. If they don't suspend or cancel your Vic license, you've still got a license. If they couldn't find your Vic license in the first place to stick it to, then you could easily present that license in QLD and they'd be none the wiser. They couldn't tell you that you were driving unlicensed, for example.

      Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree.       My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.

      Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno

      Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.

      BTW I measured the jack I have, it is 70mm at the saddle but you only have about 700 until it returns to 150mm high at the cylinder so it is good but no magic bullet.
