Yeah Unique automotive in villawood, he tuned my friends turbo excel, well tried to atleast. They told him to tune it on no more then 10psi, but he ended up incorrectly setting the boost controller to 18psi. Was also overheated on the dyno 3 times.

Lol maybe that is why they are so 'Unique'.

Sounds like another workshop to steer clear of.... Good tuners and good workshops are becoming a bit of a rarity these days.... I had a bad experience with a local workshop recently and will never take my car there, nor will i let my mates take their cars there again... Word of mouth goes a long way!

On the flipside, word of mouth also goes a long way with GOOD tuners and workshops

I would think taking that centre bit out of the manifold is a bad idea. because the turbo isn't centered you have 4 cylinders of pressure on one side pushing against 2 from the other makes for uneven flow pattern. If it turns out to be the culprit piss it off and get a hybrid topmoumt I'm dying to see how well it would work :P

Failing that my guess is you have fuel delivery issues, but it's just a guess..

Dori34 i doubt it is your manifold.I got mine tuned last weekend and was worried the manifold was going to cause turbulence problems. My whole top half of the splitter is gone. Silly me put the 20psi spring combo in my gate assuming it might just run under the target pressure(so i can use boost controller to up the pressure 1-2 psi and ramp boost up abit quicker) but ended up going to 22psi in the top end. the least power it could make was 300atw with very minimal timing and fat AFRs. That is on caltex eflex though. going to see Trent this w.e for a touch up and il ask for a dyno print out and il post them up.

Your not getting a bad name. The quality of your work has not been mentioned at all.

Putting a gate on the stock manifold wasn't guaranteed to work, its nobody's fault if it didn't. It doesn't matter how well you did the job, it matters if putting a hole in the collector of a divided manifold and a gate within a few inches of it will create turbulence.

See what happens anyway.

yeah gate on manifold should be fine, it was just removing the splitter I was unsure on,,but as it turns out its still there anyway...so my point was proven invalid already..

secretly I was just trying to talk him into the hybrid topmount though cause I want to see how it goes..

OMG am I seeing ghosts or what- just how many doris do we have here?? One talkin to the other.. Confused:S

TBH, i wouldn't be suprised after the last issue with my "boost issue" which was just the EBC set incorrectly.

the boost plot is only for the 1bar run, but from what i saw, the 1.2 and 1.4 bar runs was just flat line like the 1bar, no issues there.

OH NOOOO

Hey dori33, what's done to your car and any Dyno sheets? I wanna see where the restriction is how it looks ok a Dyno if your maxing out a Mani.

Guys, please don't doubt the manifold, it's been done before and they've have made 280-300rwkw on this set manifold setup, Blake has done a good job. he's done a lot of work for me and I appreciate all his help

Thank to Jez you legend, looks like another silly mistake done by my tuner.

I think I'm gonns book it in with you earlier cause I can't wait any longer. Speak to you soon mate.

im just having a look to see if the haltech works off kpa absolute or kpa.

ill send you the tune back with the overboost raised, let me know if it still cuts out, but obviously dont go thrashing it as the tune isnt finished for high boost

Not so much a bad name but I loose work over people saying the manifold don't work it does work and it's proven as jez just stated boost cut wasn't changed for high boost. If the manifold wasn't working it would be spiking seems every time dori has a boost issue the finger gets pointed at the manifold and it effects my clients Thinking my product is shit

hey rondofj can u try one on a hybrid manifold, looks like doris car is sorted damnit >_<

I mean YAY!!!

At the mo im just about to come out of a 6 month hibernation in a weeks time, but hopeful of dori's results too as thats whats Im intending to do.. :)

On an unrelated note Jez, what is the difference between the PS1000 and PS2000 based on a setup like Dori's and like mine? (Bit of a Noob question i know...)

    • Price seems pretty good to me. Also seems a hell of a lot cheaper then buying another vehicle that only ever gets used for towing.  I'm a long way from you mate, I'm a couple of hours out of Brizzy.

    • The sodium acetate, mixed with citric acid, doesn't actually buffer each other. Interestingly though, if you used Sodium Acetate, and acetic acid, THAT becomes a buffer solution. Additionally, a weak acid that can attack a metal, is still a weak acid that can attack a metal. If you don't neutralise it, and wash it off, it's going to be able to keep attacking. It works the same way when battery acid dries, get that stuff somewhere, and then it gets wet, and off it goes again breaking things down. There's a reason why people prefer a weak acid, and it's because they want TIME to be able to be on their side. IE, DIY guys are happy to leave some mild steel in vinegar for 24 hours to get mill scale off. However, if you want to do it chemically in industry, you grab the muriatic acid. If you want to do it quicker at home, go for the acetic acid if you don't want muriatic around. At the end of the day, look at the above thumbnail, as it proves what I said in the earlier post, you can clean that fuel tank up all you want with the solution, but the rust that has now been removed was once the metal of the fuel tank. So how thin in spots is your fuel tank getting? If the magazine on the left, is the actual same magazine as on the right, you'll notice it even introduces more holes... Well, rust removal in general actually does that. The fuel tank isn't very thick. So, I'll state again, look to replace the tank, replace the fuel hanger, and pump, work out how the rust and shit is making it past the fuel filter, and getting into the injectors. That is the real problem. If the fuel filter were doing its job, the injectors wouldn't be blocked.
    • Despite having minimal clothing because of the hot weather right now, I did have rubber gloves and safety glasses on just in-case for most of the time. Yes, I was scrubbing with my gloves on before, but brushing with a brush removes the remaining rust. To neutralize, I was thinking distilled water and baking soda, or do you think that would be overkill?
