It also stops if I turn the car off turn turn it back on again..Aside from turbo and cooler whole setup is stock standard..Actually just thinking, I did pull the restrictor out of my boost gauge line, this couldn't do it could it

Will do

I know he spent a bit of time sorting the cold start so what are the chances it would be fine without the AAC anyway.. I always warm it up before I drive, I don't have aircon and I'm sure there is enough power to run the PS.. So what is it good for really ?

PS does put a lot of load on the engine though, mine used to stall with the NIStune when I turned the wheel at idle.

But the PS switch should allow for that, pretty sure i swapped a few back in my Falcadore mechanics days..... Assume skylines would be similar?

Yeh, but if you didn't have the IAC valve, how would the ECU raise the idle?

I usually try to avoid turning wheel at idle anyway, on any car..drive an old car with np PS and you learn pretty quick to only turn the wheel when car is in motion ;)

Yeh I try to do the same, but to get my front bumper off I have to turn the wheels. I just think it's rather inconvenient NOT being able to, even if I usually avoid it.

just wondering..ive never seen the td05 come in 25g, i was going to go for a 18g but would i see any benefits with the 25g on the rb20?

maybe holds boost longer? longer spool time? so on

TD05H 25G is not something you should go for. The 25G wheel can flow upward of 500HP, the TD05H wheel is stretched at best to be nearing 400HP.

Even a TD05H 20G is a touch of a mismatch, and can often run into surge issues.

FYI the different between an 18G and a 20G is the inducer size. Sort of like comparing a 3076R in 52 trim and 56 trim. Going the smaller will trade a little bit of top end for some spool. In this case both wheels have a 68mm OD but the 18G is a better overall match to the TD05H.

The best way to get a grasp of whats a good combo or not is what Trust have developed and sold as their own kits. In this case either pick the TD05H 18G or the TD06SL2 20G...... One for better low end and midrange, the other for higher end power and midrange. 240 and 260kw respectively.

okay thanks for that, back to the td05 18g then, but is there a way around the drop in power higher in the rev range?

also if i go td06 for more power how much do people usually loose low down as in spool time so on?

So I was just browsing kandos on ebay again and noticed that all TD06sl2 t3 10cm turbos come with anti surge covers now...

Whats going on there??

I haven't noticed any surge issues apart form the huge surge of power when i put the foot down :P

haha tama easier said than done :P having 350 with the td06 is all well and good but i don't want to wait an extra 500-1000rpm for it. td05 for the street and a few track days will make me more than happy.

You wont feel it losing power up top mate. It will haul to redline.

Only difference is how much of the peak power is made and how much spool time is lost.

The TD05 is likely to be quite lively between 3 and 4k RPM with a little more meat than the TD06 from 2 - 3 aswell. The TD06 will probably be very flat from 2 - 3 and get a fairly abrupt rush of power around the 4k mark. Like I said, TD05 will probably go 240kw and TD06 will probably go 260.

This is all provided you set it up right.

I found by applying the KISS theory these were the results I got

Rb20

drifting or hard track = tdo6-20g

street with occasional track = td05-18g

Rb25

drifting or hard track = t67-25g

Street with occasional track = td06-20g

Now there is no doubt other options outside of this but quite frankly, if you can't figure them out by yourself, well your probably punching above your weight... Anyway so what's the verdict on the SL2 fellas..seems it shapes ok to an old HG or a 3071..but is it any better or worse, cause all in all the setup is almost as expensive..

    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
    • So, now all you need to do is connect the 2 or 3x 12v feeds into the unit to permanent 12v, ACC 12V and IGN 12V that you can find in the spot behind the stereo, and the earth, and then it will switch on with the car.
