My coils packs are on the way out and looking to buy some. Just wondering what people think, should i get spit fires or original OEM coil packs.

Also has anyone used a brand called yellow jackets. I believe they sell the cheapest aftermarket coil packs at the moment i think.

Any other brand coil packs and where to get them cheap. I dont use the car on the race track i drive it as a daily so only a hammer here and there.

Also I am still a student so i am i trying to budget my part time job with maintenance on the car its, hard.

ive got the yellow jackets. been in my car for quite a few months now. no problem at all. running 13-14 psi with a 1mm gap. they worked fine on the 1.1mm gap before my last plug change too.

a lot of people are using these, and i've only heard good feedback on them.

Yellow jackets are probably good but really depends

havent been out long enough to know they last, but then again they havent been out long enough to prove they arent better then others

you can get proven results with splitfires, or get the yellow jackets and be unsure how long they will last.

Also got splitfires not too long ago, no dramas at all. If your after some cheap replacements ive still got my stock set, nothing wrong with them. I changed them thinking mine were stuffed but it was my ECU.

I bought a fresh set of Yellow Jackets about a month ago for my RB25DET Neo and they're going great. Very quick delivery too. For long term performance ask me again in a year's time :)

I reckon a new set of pretty much any coils should be fine. Whatever you do don't buy any second hand OEMs, the only place they should go in is the bin...

Uhm, i've only heard good things about the yellow jackets and with split fires...well i think everyone knows they're one of the best.

I myself am running the JJR ones but i do know a few people on this 'ere forum have had issues with JJR ones before but justjap have pretty good customer service and will look after you. I only got jjr ones because i got them REALLY cheap. For me, they are performing great - certainly much better than the old set which was a nice set of FETs but getting really old and breaking down.

stock coil packs are the best you can get, as long as you can get them new

the only reason they are mainly no good is because they are to old and have worn out due to heat in the engine bay

absoloutly nothing wrong with good condition stock coils. But there expensive as hell to buy brand new

I had nothing but trouble with various series 2 coilpacks and blowout so I upgraded to LS2 coilpacks. Much better ignition for about the same price.

Yeah the whole coil pack setup is definitely a weak link of the RB design. In the past 6 months I've been tearing out coil packs (and my hair) from my NEO like there's no tomorrow. In 4+ years with the LS1 I never even knew it had coil packs :blink:

Been using a set of Yellow Jackets on both my RB20 set up and RB25 set up for about a year now...

They have been good at 2bar and 300rwkw with a 0.7mm gap on the RB20

They started to break down at 0.8mm with 1.6bar running in the RB25, now gapped at 0.6mm and are fine for 385rwkw

Apparently the Nissan ones are very cheap shipped from the USA but if you can't find them Yellow Jackets so far so good :)

      If it (the code) wasn't still current, it should have gone away by itself by now. No, nothing it 10/10. But it is quite likely. Everything else to do with the ignition could still be responsible (which is wires and connectors). The car is an old piece of shit now, so all the wires and connectors are also old pieces of shit.

      Before I get to the test day, just to finish off the android head unit. This is a demo from car start up....the standard/host system takes a few seconds to boot (same as all v37) but Android comes up quickly. In this vid I'm using the delivered launcher but have set the default to Agami since which is easier to navigate when if use primarily 5 apps. You can see the host system still takes over when required eg putting it in reverse, and you can switch between Android and not by holding the back button 3 sec. It is pretty responsive (fast) but you can see I had to press harder than expected a couple of times.  I still have the phone connected to the stock system, and that also seamlessly takes over Android music playing. v37-android-demo.mp4 The bigger reason that I put this in though is so that I can use Ecutek directly on the head unit. That gives me a dash with logging (up to 20MB only), high and low value warnings on any parameter etc etc. I've run a USB cable from the Ecutek OBD dongle to a USB input on the unit, easy. v37-ecutek-demo.mp4   The unit did freeze on the launcher the other day, I think Agami was trying to verify the license when it didn't have a data connection...will monitor and report back if there are any other problems but so far I'm very happy with the upgrade.

      Nah that is just crappy GPS mapping, I did have a small excursion (cold tyres, damp track, surprise!), will post up that when I get a chance.
