I am buying my very first Skyline, it's an R34 GT-R. I found a really cheap one with good KMs, it's not a V Spec but big deal I would be changing the suspension and all anyway. Any other things the V Spec is better or is the regular Skyline GTR just as good? I found one (link below), give me your input I called the guy he seems nice and friendly, he says its a genuine GT-R not a conversion, the VINs should confirm that. Right so guys tell me if this is dodgy or not because he says it's tuned to like 350 hp at all fours and everything yet it's the cheapest I've found so far.

hard to say whether or not it's dodgy until you go and see the car/test drive it. The only thing that i'm confused about is the fact that both the white and red lenses on the rear bar for the reverse and fog lights respectively, are missing

Why replace a radiator on a 10y.o car? it is nowhere near a power level where it will require it, and is running 15psi on ceramic turbos, There are few things about it that seem sus. I very much doubt you will find any R34s advertised as GTRs that are not (other than idiots with GTTs who do not know any better) to do a conversion is more than the car is worth. As others ahevsaid, you get what you pay for, keep an eye out in our own for sale section, generally because of the amount of GTRs on here, and a slightly more real world approach to pricing you will get a far nicer car for your money, it may just mean waiting a little longer.

could be 1 of many reasons. could've had front end damage, could've blown an end tank or had a seal let go, could've had some shitty water used in it and become slightly blocked, or the owner could be the type of person who likes wank factor stuff and thought he would gain power from a better radiator.

I put an alloy radiator in my Supra purely for the fact that aussie summers are very hot and I was doing a full coolant change/flush (4 times, lol) which was a good time to upgrade imo.

Guys I'm going to check it out with my friend who is a mechanic, he can tell repairs to GT-Rs as he's worked on them but I think the general negative tone of all the responsive is making me want to say pass. I would rather pay more and not end up regretting it. Thanks for the advise, I did notice some things that are wrong. By the way don't you guys think the rear is a little lifted compared to the front? Maybe suspension setup or something??

50,000km my arse - ask him for proof that the kms are legit.

ask any import owner to prove the kms are legit and 99% of them won't be able to. all they can tell you is what they bought the car with. doesn't answer whether the kms the car was imported with were legit though.

hmm..

this one looks scarily simier to the QLD Black R34 GTR for 37,500. the ad was taken out after a month or so

i went and had a look at it and engine bay is so similar to that one including that mesh on the radiator

that car had low compression engine, the owner telling me.."it the tune mate" it needs a good tune. also you can tell from panels fit meat that it had both Front and Back damage. the boot release had issue as well

I simply Ran from there as fast as i can

Make sure you get it properly checked !!!!

then again BLACK R34 GTR, even with fake KM.... is still very good price for 37.5K

A State Roads inspection is a good starting point. You'll lose $250 but at least you'll know what the mechanical condition is like. IMO, every single import should be checked with a fine-tooth comb. You can't trust anyone these days and a lot of them have been smashed at some point. It's always a good idea to ask if the seller is willing to have the car inspected at a reputable workshop. If they have nothing to hide then they're generally willing to compromise and have someone look at the car. Worst case scenario is that you take it to the workshop and they say it's no good, in which case you just don't buy the car. If the seller is hesitant at getting the car looked at, then usually that's an indication that there's something to hide.

I would suggest at least having a look at the car. You've got nothing to lose by just inspecting it.

EDIT: I just realised the car is up around the Central Coast, which means it will be a pain in the ass to get it inspected by anyone other than State Roads.

Some great advice already and I only wanted to second the comments on getting a full mechanical inspection done.

I don't know what it is called but they can go over all the body panels and measure the thickness of the paint/bog etc and actually tell if its had panel repairs as opposed to just a respray to freshen things up.

The car is definately worth checking out at that price as you don't see to many sub 40000 34gtrs.

Go with you eyes open, take your mate, test drive it, ask questions, see what paperwork it has. As Iron Chef says , the kms won't be correct, they get a hair cut in japan or here. It is very cheap and it just doesn't look right, but have a look , but don't get roped in

    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
