+1 pm with price if you want.

And maybe a drum of 3000 for the daily too.

I can get a price for that, I'm possibly going to get one of that too; I reckon it might be a bit over $100.

Cool. Is that from a chain parts store at retail or a trade only supplier?

Their head office is not far from me; so it was at their main warehouse.

I'm sure you'll be able to get them from an oil wholesaler though.

I got the passenger seat fitted today and cleaned the interior quickly, it's got to look its best for the dyno tomorrow. :)

Also a pic of the stock looking engine bay. The cover makes a difference.

Looks comfy in there mate!

Some black silicone joiners, some satin black paint; factory spec.

I never found the engine cover fitted particularly well once the spacer was in - did you put some risers on the front bolts or just encourage it to bend a little to get some purchase on them?

This weeks Stagea related activity appears to have been borking my turbo. :(

Seems last weekend's cruise was a bit too much. Weird; because I was taking it easy too...

Onward & upward eh? :whistling:

What's the plan then? Hypergear?

If only you had somewhere you could take it to do the turbo work for you... :whistling:

Sounding a bit suspect is it mate?

I ditched the spacer. ;)

Ouch, How big are you going?

Whatever you do, dont go to that Stagea HKS bro garage joint. (heard bad things). lol.

Probably not; been talking with Craig, and I'll be going with something that he's recommending.

He's driven a lot of different combinations, built by a bunch of turbo builders; so I trust his judgement.

It has a very strange whine emanating from it now; and that's in addition to the standard whine.

Still boosting fine, and doesn't seem to be rubbing; but who know's how long that will last.

Had to happen eventually; I reckon it's been living borrowed time for a while now. I'm currently at 103,000km (plus whatever the mandatory haircut adds) so it's done ok.

Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be joining the powah war. :/

I really want to keep the response close to the stocker; so it's going to be small.

The cruise the other night just reinforced to me that I don't want a lagmaster; it's really nice with the handling it has, it's devastating point to point on a windy road.

I don't want to lose that; I just want to have the really good midrange of the stocker with maybe a bit of potential down the track for a handful of extra KW's IF I choose to go a bit more boost and aftermarket management.

That's still a way down the track (if at all) and I don't want to regret going too big in the interim.

I have a 170rwhp, 300km/h bike that makes any car look stupid (does 164km/h in first gear), so I don't need the car for my speed fix.

I've heard bad things about that workshop too; have you seen the bloke who runs it? :P

YES! I agree Dale  (but you already knew that, lol).

just a suggestion i had a strange whinning noise that i thought was the turbo lacking oil on startup would last a little while and then go away. it was like a nasty queeling noise and eventually i traced it down to the belts on the front of the motor needed some dry lube, WD40 done jack sh*t but helped me find it as its not easy to get ur hand past the clutch fan to lube it up.

dont know if this helps but anythings worth a shot!!!

    • This looks great! Awesome to have the 5 speed with an LSD in this. The Recaro's look like SR2's or SR3's. It's a shame they've been retrimmed as they would have looked sweet in their original colours. I think I'd want my agent to be a little more up front and informative too. I've never imported but I reckon it would make me a little nervous, so the more info the better.
    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
