Thanks Adam, I figured the 20% additional flow should be able to cope at this stage. Seems like I was right, I just saw Nismoid mention minimum 700cc in another thread and started to wonder... :thanks:

500-550cc injectors will not allow -5s to perform to their full potential power wise as they will not slow enough.

700 are needed at a min, which is the next "size" up in the jap brands IIRC as there is a gap between 550 and 700 where nothing fits

Just as my stockies would top out at 305rwkW these will top out at 360rwkW... My bottom end will be annoyed prior to this though.

Cam gears and 100k service bits to buy, then I'll book it in. Might leave it a month or so and revive this thread as I have a bill coming up on another car this month...

im with you GT-R32 everyone always burns -5s if the word "response" is in the thread. Im about to upgrade to -5s on my 26, ive got old school Nismo steel wheels on my car now, it makes 311kw and they are maxxed, it makes more boost on a cold night lol but if its warm im lucky to make the 18.5psi its tuned for, even in 4th gear with a full pull. comparing my dyno sheets to the cars with -5s, my car will be the same if not less laggyer with the -5s bolted up. The power line will just keep climbing instead of flating out : D

True that,

Got R33 N1's on my now old dinosaur things making 330kw, looking forward to better response plus lots more power ;)

Nismo 600 purple tops? Prob still not big enough though.

I have a built forged engine running standard cams with Tomei cam gears, standard head, air box and running -5s at around 20 psi on a safe tune.

The exhaust is 3.5" with a matrix 3.5" cat, this reduces down to a 3" exhaust about 600mm past the cat which includes two 3" elbows and a 3"muffler.

The cars at the workshop now and they are changing it to a full 3.5" system with a dyno run for minor adjustments to suit, its currently pulling 338Kws, this is a genuine back to back dyno run with an exhaust upgrade so it will be interesting to see what and if there is any differance in the power levels running the same psi and safe tune, results next week, Cheers.

To all the exhaust buffs.

Just picked the car up now with a full 3.5" exhaust, its gone from 338kws to 355kws and spools a lot earlier.

Happy Happy

Thanks for letting us know. Thats a handy little increase and it confirms what is expected WRT power and spool. If it were me, next step would be to try a decat on the dyno to see if there's any potential for a better result with a bigger (5 inch?) cat.

  • 6 months later...

Still haven't done anything (I know!), the car has sat unregistered all winter. Thinking of not fitting the Blitz injectors, but I'm having trouble finding Sard 700s and don't want to pay Just Jap over $1k for them.

Are these bolt in, with nothing else to be done as per the 700s?

Going to get some new discs and pads and it's time to decide where I get the work done... :/

have you looked at Deatschwerks injectors?

straight drop in (they're high flowed stockers)

Shit they look excellent.

Any one had any experience with them? 750cc or 880cc is sweet. Given they are both $549, I'm tempted to go for the 880cc!

ID 1000's. Done!

800's will need new plugs, 700's have the right plug

Spray/nozzle is also different 700 to 800

I cant remember exactly which way it is, but one is twin and one is single.

Im fairly certain the 700s were the twins... (but please dont take that as 100%, cant remember when i looked @ mine :()

some new 700cc ones for sale here

Do ya know if the 800s are different?

I remember there being a difference at the top, just not what

Yeah man. My 800's were a duel hole injector that needed new plugs (although I believe you can get single hole 800's, but I could be wrong), 700's are stock plugs and single hole.

    • It would be different if the sealant hadn't started to peel up with gaps in the glue about ~6cm and bigger in some areas. I would much prefer not having to do the work take them off the car . However, the filler the owner put in the roof rack mount cavities has shrunk and begun to crack on the rail delete panels. I cant trust that to hold off moisture ingress especially where I live. Not only that but I have faded paint on as well as on either side of these panels, so they would need to come off to give the roofline a proper respray. My goal is to get in there and put a healthy amount of epoxy instead of panel filler/bog and potentially skin with carbon fiber. I have 2 spare rolls from an old motorcycle fairing project from a few years back and I think it'd be a nice touch on a black stag.  I've seen some threads where people replace their roof rack delete with a welded in sheet metal part. But has anyone re-worked the roof rails themselves? It seems like there is a lot of volume there to add in some threads and maybe a keyway for a quick(er) release roof rack system. Not afraid to mill something out if I have to. It would be cool to have a cross bar only setup. That way I can keep the sleek roofline that would accept a couple bolts to gain back that extra utility  3D print some snazzy covers to hide the threaded section to be thorough and keep things covered when not using the rack.
    • Probably not. A workshop grade scantool is my go to for proper Consult interrogation. Any workshop grade tool should do it. Just go to a workshop.
    • In my head it does make sense to be a fuel problem since that is what I touched when cleaning the system. When I was testing with the fuel pressure gauge, the pressure was constantly 2.5 bar with the FPR vacuum removed. When stalling, the pressure was going up to 3.0 bar (which is how it should be on ignition).
    • ECUtalk pages don't mention they support the ABS computer (consult port has more than one CAN), so you might just need a different scan tool. But, I would expect ABS is a different light to the brake warning/handbrake light, do you see an ABS light come on for a few seconds when you turn the key from ACC to IGN? But since you said: I'd have a look at the ABS sensors in the rear hubs to make sure they are not damaged, disconnected etc.
    • OK, if it idles at 1000+ with the AAC, its not an idle airflow problem. The cold start valve just gives extra air when the engine is cold, but you have enough air without it to idle at 1000. I think you are back to a fuel problem, sorry. Can you see the fuel pressure staying constant or does it drop as the revs drop to a stall?
