Thanks Brendan. She's been home since the weekend and is currently asleep and resting. Surgeons gave her 6 weeks off work ... but she's only got enough leave for 3. >_< Things are going to be on the tight side for a while.

She keeps complaining that she's going to have some big ugly scars ... but I'm just thankful that she's still here in one piece. I've realized exactly just how much I care for her over the last 1.5 weeks.

yeah good reality check bud.....give her our love mate

yeah good reality check bud.....give her our love mate

I've asked her if she wanted to get out of the house, and briefly drop in at the dyno day to thank everyone personally for their support and flowers. She'll just see how she feels on the day.

Seems Tracy (my wife) will be off work for 6 weeks, but she's only got enough leave to cover 2.5-3 weeks. So we're going to be a bit stretched on the budget.

I'll put it out there that if anyone wants any mechanical work done to their skylines (turbo swaps, 100K service, fitment of new parts etc) I'd be happy for quick cash jobs, to keep us above water. I normally don't ask for the work (it finds me) but we'd like one less thing to worry about if anyone needs a fix.

PM me.

Anyone who is running a ceramic NPC clutch, would you mind sharing your bedding in experience with me, ie; how long you took it steady for, or if you even altered your driving style at all..

I've done about 100 kays since the install and havent had any dramas, except a tiny bit of shudder while reversing (clutch definitely isn't as forgiving as standard one)

I've treated it a bit like running in a new motor: varying load at constant speed using the gears, short bursts of power at sensible rpm, also gonna go do some forward and reverse hill starts.

I would highly recommend to anyone using the same style of clutch to uprgrade to a nismo slave cylinder and braided lines, the bitiness is the only giveaway my clutch isn't standard, the heaviness of the pedal is only increased by about 15-20 percent as an estimate..

Maybe one day I'll be able to drive my car to a dragstrip in Adelaide, do a proper 8k rpm launch, run an 11.999 and drive home..... Wishful thinking.

I wouldn't be doing WOT launches to run in a clutch >_<

Just drive it normal with no excessive slipping or hard launching.

Your biggest problem is the type of clutch you've chosen for street use.......def never going to be as forgiving as a street type clutch

EDIT: I don't mean to jump on anyone's toes here........just purely my opinion only.........and I've been wrong many times :/

"Poor man pays twice", comes to mind again.......for that sort of power on a car used on the street 90% of the time, you can't go past the Nismo Twin Copper-Mix.

1). All the grip you need.

2). Can be slipped in heavy traffic all day (which is an absolute MUST for a daily).

3). One of the lightest pedals I've ever felt.

4). Not to mention that the "Boss" style centre drive (of the Copper-Mix) allows for quick and effective release of the driven plates, giving you quick & smooth gear changing.........a problem that a lot of Twin & Triple plate systems tend to have.

just a remeinder i have my blitz twin plate (ORC) up for sale still. It is a push type so it will suit 32R

Great for thrashing and still drivable day to day.

only done 5000km and it is going cheap

Sorry to the mods but i am keen to sell and have had no interest as far and the posts above were discussing clutches.

LOL of the day for me...

someone bought "defi" guages that dont need a control unit and thinks there REAL

Adrian Guerra fakes?

Dylan James Trembath nope :) had a good look they are legit 100%

Adrian Guerra wheres control unit?

Dylan James Trembath im getting one but dont really need it

Adrian Guerra yeh you MUST have one for the defi. thats how there powered/run

Dylan James Trembath these gauges can run as stand alone

Adrian Guerra then there fake

Adrian Guerra quote from defi website "Defi-Link ADVANCE SYSTEM is the next generation system that adopted the interactive communication.

The product of Defi-Link ADVANCE SYSTEM cannot be connected with the product of Defi-Link SYSTEM. It is not compatible with the product of Defi-Link SYSTEM."

Pierre Porquier exactly what i was saying.

Adrian Guerra Defi-Link ADVANCE Control Unit is necessary to operate ADVANCE BF Meters.

Dylan James Trembath ive had this conversion with another person the series this are and becuase there stand alone. they can be hard wired and still dasie chained.

Adrian Guerra LOL... clearly dont know anything about defi guages

Adrian Guerra have a look here. http://www.defi-shop.com/index.htm and read EVERY gauge.. every single gauge setup needs a control unit. i own multiple defis..

Defi - Gauges & Head up displays

www.defi-shop.com

Defi - Gauges and head-up displays for vehicles and drivers by car instrument supplier Nippon Seiki Co., Ltd.

Dylan James Trembath well it says in my instructions i can use with or without defi control unit. 1 or 2. so if i need the unit ill get it. but i dont well.

Adrian Guerra hahaha, coz there fake.. the old bf style can only run the old control unit, the advance bf can only run the new control unit, email streeter and ask him if ANY defi's can run without a control unit. then post his reply here..

Dylan James Trembath there not fake.someone makes fake defis they can get done for copy right.. corret? ive looked at serial numbers and rang defi. they are legit.. but its okay. im ganna hook them up how i can. i probly will get defi control unit 2.

Adrian Guerra ppl make fake all the time, theres fake brides that look identical. if you seriously think you bought genuine then you arent supposed to be modding imports lol.. youve never seen fake stuff from bali? wallets, shoes, etc etc? they are identical, i just bought some nikes for $50 that are fake and there 100% the same.. ask ANYONE into imports if you can run defi's without a control unit..

    • It would be different if the sealant hadn't started to peel up with gaps in the glue about ~6cm and bigger in some areas. I would much prefer not having to do the work take them off the car . However, the filler the owner put in the roof rack mount cavities has shrunk and begun to crack on the rail delete panels. I cant trust that to hold off moisture ingress especially where I live. Not only that but I have faded paint on as well as on either side of these panels, so they would need to come off to give the roofline a proper respray. My goal is to get in there and put a healthy amount of epoxy instead of panel filler/bog and potentially skin with carbon fiber. I have 2 spare rolls from an old motorcycle fairing project from a few years back and I think it'd be a nice touch on a black stag.  I've seen some threads where people replace their roof rack delete with a welded in sheet metal part. But has anyone re-worked the roof rails themselves? It seems like there is a lot of volume there to add in some threads and maybe a keyway for a quick(er) release roof rack system. Not afraid to mill something out if I have to. It would be cool to have a cross bar only setup. That way I can keep the sleek roofline that would accept a couple bolts to gain back that extra utility  3D print some snazzy covers to hide the threaded section to be thorough and keep things covered when not using the rack.
    • Probably not. A workshop grade scantool is my go to for proper Consult interrogation. Any workshop grade tool should do it. Just go to a workshop.
    • In my head it does make sense to be a fuel problem since that is what I touched when cleaning the system. When I was testing with the fuel pressure gauge, the pressure was constantly 2.5 bar with the FPR vacuum removed. When stalling, the pressure was going up to 3.0 bar (which is how it should be on ignition).
    • ECUtalk pages don't mention they support the ABS computer (consult port has more than one CAN), so you might just need a different scan tool. But, I would expect ABS is a different light to the brake warning/handbrake light, do you see an ABS light come on for a few seconds when you turn the key from ACC to IGN? But since you said: I'd have a look at the ABS sensors in the rear hubs to make sure they are not damaged, disconnected etc.
    • OK, if it idles at 1000+ with the AAC, its not an idle airflow problem. The cold start valve just gives extra air when the engine is cold, but you have enough air without it to idle at 1000. I think you are back to a fuel problem, sorry. Can you see the fuel pressure staying constant or does it drop as the revs drop to a stall?
