Hi All,

I am looking for a Car Audio & Security installer in VIC, if anyone can please suggest or recommend an installer and especially with V35 experience. You can post on this thread or private message me, it would be very much appreciated. FYI, I am currently looking at Street Sound & Vision (SSV) in Thomastown...

Cheers,

I already gave you a lead in boronia. can give you a second in moorabbin if need be. shame I'm not in town or I would do the car myself.

That would be awesome if you were coming down in the near future, I can wait till then... I rather have someone with extensive experience dealing with V35's touching my car.

I'm planning to put in a new sound system as well, so just trying to suss out SSV cause they gave me a very good deal for a system and I put a deposit on it, which I should have waited...

Thanks for the referrals guys!

Just got my gtr done with a full system and very complicated immboliser, got it back last night and he did an immaculate.job, he lives in templestowe and his got awsome prices. Pm me if your interested

FYI

turbo timers and remote starts are a defect in australia

As many threads will already state - turbo timers are illegal to use in Australia. Just drive slow for the last coupla minutes of the journey and let it cool down. For reference:

ADR 25: Turbo timers are not to be fitted to vehicles manufactured on or after 1 January 1972 (ADR 25 Anti-Theft Locks). ADR 25 requires that the normal function of the engine only occurs when the ignition lock is in the engine on position.

That basically covers both turbo-timers and remote start - in each case, you have the normal function of the engine with the ignition lock isn't engaged.

I just had my stereo installed by riverside customs in werribee. I am no audio expert but they did a really good job in my opinion really neat work and they didn't take any shortcuts they take their time and make up all their own spacers etc.. They are apparently one of the few installer in Melbourne that still specialize in large fiberglass custom installs. Anyway I had installed a kenwood ddx8036bt headunit, alpine type X components, Polk 500.4 amp and morel rears. What really impressed me was that when I went to pick the car up they told me they dropped a bit of solder on the driver side scuff panel and it had made a mark. They told me they had fixed it best they could and had ordered me a new replacement one. I couldn't believe it when I had a look as I could not see anything even when it was pointed out to me. In my book that alone makes them someone worth talking to as I think it is so hard finding honest people that will do a good honest job these days. I will definitely go back to these guys in the future and they are worth speaking to if you live out west.

WOW! Nice, that is good service there! I did come across Riverside Customs when I was initially quick searching... I'm just not sure what to do, cause I went into SSV to have a look and suss them out, the guy gave me a good deal for an Alpine package (of Type S: 5 Channel Amp, Sub, Components & Coaxials and IVA-W520EBT) for $1700, a saving of $1100 and so I put down a $100 deposit to secure the equipment. I wonder if that's too good to be true, but I'm going to ask to upgrade to the Type R at an additional amount. :glare:

Hey everyone, Tried finding a more recent thread with no luck...

Basically my old R34 got stolen right out the front of my house in mid September this year (no alarm in it like a dumbarse because i thought i lived in a quiet/nice area).

I'll be picking up my new 34 sometime next week and really want to get an alarm system fitted fairly soon

Some points to note:

  • Located in the Northern Suburbs of Melbourne (South Morang)
  • Not sure what the "normal" price range is for something like this, but would be willing to go around the $450 mark (Edit: Am flexible on price as i'd rather spend extra for a good alarm install than a better sound system)
  • Alarm system will have to adhere to the Australian/NZ standard so the insurance company is happy.

Would like some advice on shops to go to or even feedback if the ones mentioned above were good or not?

Any help would be awesome!

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
    • Hi.. Just another problem. So maybe you can help. I(my mechanic) done swap from my RB20DE NEO to RB25DET NEO. Everything is OK but we have a boost cut. Coils/Plugs are ok...AFM is ok. ECU is ok. I have Walbro 255 but it "changed" sound few months ago(you can hear it ouside) you did not hear that when it was new(maybe faulty?) Sooo...what now? What can cause this boost cut? It is even when you standing still...
