Usually there's a three day course for l's and a two day course for p's. Both about $250. They are very similar tests and I don't think many people would have trouble on either. I suspect the reason why they have this structure is perhaps because of how it was formed in the past (could have had a bigger difference in restrictions, also the fact that you used to be able to get your bike license before you were 18 would mean you couldn't go straight into p's) and the fact that cars have two stages as well (you can get this license without a car license where as for truck I believe you require a car license therefore the stages are done differently)

Quite simple to complete, if you can get it done then it's done forever :)

Was just looking on the site of the company my mate did it at, 'Stay up right'.

For L's they do a 6 or 12 hour course, 12 hour reccomended for people like me that have no previous experience..

Haven't really spoken to him in detail, but I think he said he paid ~$280, which was more expensive coz he did it on a weekend, so $250 sounds about right...

They look alright, expensive compared to the ninjas though..

Quick look on bikesales, ~$2k more for a 5 year older model

They aren't legal cos it exceeds power to weight ratio or I'm missing something?

Yes. LAMS means that it's based on power/weight ratio hence why an SV650 is acceptable on you L's and P's but an RSV250 isn't.

Two strokes are fun bikes but are quickly going out of fashion because there is no longer a class in MotoGP and now the same for 125's (Replaced with Moto3 four stroke 250's). Basically due to polution :( so lame.

and what's the difference with L's and P's?

Passenger restrictions?

No difference, but P plate is the start of your 1 year probation before you can get a faster bike, so I guess they're testing if you're worthy of a bigger bike and then making you wait a year of practicing for it. They also teach and test you a couple advanced techniques.

I was on my Ls for 3 years just cause I couldn't be f**ked going for Ps to start the probation lol.

    • I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.

    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
