Less gap means a less powerful spark, but it is also less affected by higher pressure inside the cylinder. As far as I know. So it might be less powerful but it's the lesser of two evils when you have misfires.

feeling better nao borci?

Not really, she still contacts me every few days, whether it be about something useless like how she saw my cousin at netball, or how thursday night she had a bit of a go at me thinking it was me that logged into her facebook, and how i've f**ked her right off and don't care about her anymore. I gave her nothing back... blunt and honest, tried not to show any feeling.

I'm going out tonight, theres another girl now that I'm NOT interested in in the slightest, but shes becoming attached and it's doing my head in lol. I dunno man, I still have this little hope inside of me that me and the ex will get together again sometime soon in future, and I think it will happen, but I need to let it go.

This was what I was getting at, clearly he has less power with a misfiring car, than with .8mm gaps on his spark plugs.

But now I'm curious with the whole less gap= less power I didn't think it would really make a difference, once the shit combusts it would explode anyway wouldn't it?

Ford forum sponsor has special $2000 for:

FG 6 Piston front kit @ $2000
Brembo 355mm slotted rotors
Brembo 6 piston caliper
Brembo brake pads
Goodridge braided lines
Custom alloy brackets

Tempting! Perhaps then I might do some trackdays..

Thoughts about Brembo rotors? how to they compare to DBA?

well, try not to lead the other girl on too.

unless she's hot, then, you know, by all means, carry on.

The bigger the spark, the faster the compressed mixture burns = more power...as far as I know. I think it's one of the reasons ethanol makes more power, because it burns faster than petrol?

Ethanol burns slower..

But wouldn't the same amount of current be traveling through the gap? I mean I could understand how a higher voltage would create a bigger spark, but not just stretching the distAnce between the two elements

So smaller spark would then require more energy to equal the spark produced by the larger gap?

more like, the hotter and bigger spark is due to the larger gap, thus larger arc and ionisation of gases.

but i would assume a bigger voltage is needed to be able to form the arc across the gap, thus when coilpacks are worn, or ignition system is bad, bigger gapped plugs would show moar misfire.

On looking it up again, ethanol does burn faster. It's what creates more torque without even touching timing - more heat (not hotter, just more of it) created sooner and therefore spending more time exerting force on the piston than petrol.

If my mind is in the right state, a similar principle applies to advancing ignition timing (be it with petrol or ethanol) to create more torque/power: you're firing the cylinder closer to the start of the "power" stroke, so the heat can push on the piston for longer.

As for spark gap: the bigger the gap, the longer the arc/spark = the more spark there is to ignite mixture = the faster it ignites and burns = the more power it makes. Pretty sure that's how it works. This efficiency is, however, negated when your cylinder can't ignite at all...which is Pat's current (pun) problem. The rule of thumb is that you should run the largest gap that doesn't offer misfires.

    • @Murray_Calavera iam just considering options 🙂 of course it is very expensive so that why i ask here 🙂  @joshuaho96 I looked at that GCG hybrid(i remember looking at it few weeks before) So this is "that" hybrid where i send them my turbo and they upgrade the inside to Garrett stuff and then they send it back. It cost around 1200-1300 USD which is FAR cheaper than the HKS and it is what iam looking for(i just do not have experience like this...to send something off to "upgrade" ) @tylink720 that is like 150 USD turbo no? 😄 I dont think i have the "ease on my mind" with this kind of turbo. I just put over 7000k USD to "LINK" up my engine...dont want to blow it up with cheap turbo 😄     EDIT: https://www.cj-motor.com/gcg-turbo-charger-for-nissan-rb20det-rb25det-high?srsltid=AfmBOooVeOZ6CZ6r1AIv5m-KPaa6BvudIPJTY8LW78khkd-gQlsaCht9 I looked at this and it seems ok? It is that CGC hybrid and it costs around 1250 USD (with back shipping). Do any of you have experience with this hybrid on NEO turbo? I quickly look thru the forum/web and it seems very good.

    • It's funny, as Ive seen plenty of people use them in cheap builds on YT. And they actually go okay, even though a lot of other maxspeedingrods stuff is terrible. Those turbos seem reliable enough, the only part being, a good quality turbo that is "identical" to it, will out perform it day in and day out. In both a lower boost threshold, and the ability to flow more air at the same boost pressure. As a cheap cheap replacement, not a terrible choice. For cheap and shouldn't blow in a day, not terrible (like other eBay/Temu turbos) for low cost and still decent performance, that's where the question comes in to play from the results I've seen. I'd actually find it hilarious to buy one, and strap it to a paddock basher or some other cheap as POS originally NA car, and send it to the moon!
