surely to actually get the fine you have to have been a knob to the cop.

its like the dick head tax.

Come down to Melbourne sometime and say hello to our fellow resident Mr Pettit :P

Lol dick head tax. When are we doing another BBH tony Alvin and jono(our resident nips)

Your on a diet

I was polite to the cop but still got a $305 fine

maybe you just got a power tripper :/

no thanks, i like the cops here, they are more relaxed. have been RBT'd and not defected a couple times

All comes down to luck, honestly...being a dick only works the odds against you. Being nice will help your odds, but you can still come across a cock head cop who will throw everything at you. A stay at Le Pettett in the presidential suite is a guaranteed defect, guaranteed NOU and a guaranteed fine. It doesn't matter how nice you are to him, or how well sorted your car is, he will find something because the man has a vendetta. Remember, he is the one who tried to defect a standard and near new Toyota 86...

As for the Caribbean market meet...hard to have sympathy for people stupid enough to tell Knox police station where their meet is. Do they think they're the only ones who have tried to do these meets by the book before? Obviously a new generation of enthusiasts with strong unaware of how Knox TMU (and VicPol on the whole) handle their business: f**k any attempt at bridging the gap between enthusiasts and law enforcement. And police wonder why that speeding red Skyline on the Monash started driving on the wrong side of the road to get away from them...

Vote for the motoring enthusiast party this election!

It was a Daytime meet at Carribean Gardens, Police were informed of the event beforehand so they were aware and ok'd it and promised no "move along" orders.

And they kept their word too...VicPol's "stay right here" policy is much better for issuing defects. Really, the meet organisers couldn't have done more work for Knox TMU. Might as well have been a Jewish ghetto circa 1940.

Also, fines are usually calculated based off penalty points and each penalty point is worth a weird, arbitrary amount of dollars (probably required revenue divided by projected issue of fines), like $144 or something. So it's not so much the cop who makes the number random, he just chooses how many penalty points you get on his personal dickhead scale. When I last got defected I had no fine, though the defect itself was harsh.

You never want to make the trip to st albans. Lol

And believe me. St albans song huong is different to all other bbh. In a good way.

I dont even know what that is lol

Hmm, salary changes - think I need an accountant for tax minimisation

Help me Toby Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope

1. Buy a GTR

2. Claim on tax

3. ???

4. Profit

keep getting the run around from company I bought my wheels through.. was going to be 1 week, then that was extended to another 2-3, then that was extended to another 3 and a half weeks, then another 2 and a half, then I was told they were in australia going through customs, which was neally 3 weeks ago, and still nothing..

been pretty close to asking for my money back and going somewhere else

You were waiting for 10 weeks so far?

Who did you buy the wheels off?

I would convert your increased salary into tax deductible super contributions, thereby minimizing the tax paid on both the super contributions and your taxable income as a whole.

I have no idea what I'm talking about.

    • Am I correct in assuming that the R35's are getting the classic skyline haircut off the odometer?  Quick search on carsales, there are 33 08 and 09 GTR's for sale, only 2 of them have more then 100,000km's on them (116,075 and 110,000 respectively).  And somehow there are about 25 for sale with around 60,000kms? Looks like the classic skyline haircut to me =/
    • @Stringycheese  Have you only gone to the one blue slip workshop?  There will be a heap of them where ever you live, good odds that the next place you go to will pass the car.  Unfortunately (or fortunately?) every blue slip / engineering workshop will be different and will be happy passing or failing different things - despite working from the same set of rules. It's kinda like 2 lawyers arguing over a piece of legislation, each saying their interpretation is correct. Might seem strange that this happens when it comes to getting a modified car passed, but this is very much a thing. A big part of the game is finding an engineer / workshop that is on the same page as you.
    • Bah. I daily mine. ~60km per work day, 10-12 thousand km per year. What's the point of having a dirty old Datto and leaving it in the shed. It needs to be driven and enjoyed while the govco allows us to do so. It will only be a few years before we're forbidden to even start up internal combustion engines.
    • Judging by that spring perch and the normal looking spring on it - not a coilover. Well.... it is a coilover, just a stock format coilover, rather than what everyone calls a coilover.
    • Yes it is. We get stock from Nismo directly. I'm happy to take photos/video of it as proof before I ship it with timestamps or whathaveyou.
