Special mention to Grant from the Wastelands for coming out last night. Can now understand where your coming from when mentioning social interaction. And also nice to meet you and hopefully will again in the future

+1

cruise ended too early :P

I was up for mt.dande afterwards!

I was behind GTRRKT on the way up. And that was fast enought for me.

But I drive like a grandma :D

Oil temp went up to 125-130c on the run up though. Was getting a little worried...

Your oil weight is too thin.

Go for 10/50 or 10/60 at next oil change and better do it ASAP cos real summer's coming shortly.

Mine is approx 85-95 degrees (factory gauges are useless compared to Nismo units *sighs* more thing I miss...).

Which number is the weight the lower or the higher one? I can't remember?

I run 5w 40 Motul 8100 fully synthetic.

What sort of oil temps should I be worried with the rb25? And what are the consequences on the engine if the oil temp is high?

Just did an oil change :(

Weight is higher.

5 is good for quick warming up. That is what Nissan recommend. 40 is bit too thin for summer climate, I'd go 50 or 60 though.

I went home via the Esplanade again, get held up by Subaru Outback for 4 minutes, aargh! Luckily he/she pulled over to some spot.

Lol I was just cruising up...I had that stock blue S15 in front of me.

My oil temp was only on 86c on the way up.

Cruise up was fast enough for my gf :D

time for an oil cooler? :P

Though about it but it's my daily :/ oil will never warm up driving to the train station lol

Yep, I was hidden in amongst the three white boys I had in my car.

Last night was good fun. Great organising Tony and great turnout.

The only problem is now I want a R34 GTR so I can go fasssssttttteerrrrr...

The uphill was awesome and the drive home was heaps of fun. Great to see the Ae86 starting sideways at the lights...

Fixed for accuracy.

the 50/60 is the protection of the engine or highest operating temp

and i think the 0-15w is the cold operating temp or something like that

I forget, its been a while lol.. but my uncle is a lube specialist at Mobil and has previously said anyone from SAU can call him anytime to ask questions if you like :)

the 'weight' of the oil is for the lower operating temperature, as the other number represents the part of the oil with the higher kinematic viscosity at the same temp

edit: im a dipshit, must read all posts before replying >_>

I think you mean old school Toyota Supra :)

Also I must say that red M3 was fast :ninja:

Indeed. Was chasing him, he can drive that is for sure.

If Michael (miguelone) doesn't slow both of us up, Chris would kill me both in Esplanade and Arthurs Seat.

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
