This is the reason I will take my car to the grave.

My fuel system alone is nearly worth as much as the OP car :)

Lol...same hear, I could easily of had an R35 with the money I've spent on mine.

I'm now thinking about putting all my running gear in a stock looking sedan, might have to Google and see how much they weigh.

Only 30 odd kilos heavier than a 2 door, slightly longer wheelbase as well.

I paid 3k for my NA S2 33 4 door in December last year.

184,000KMs

6 months rego

stuffed PS pump(Got one for $60 off here)

Only needed new tyres for a RWC

Came with a set of brand new Superspark coilpacks(Not installed)

Radiator replaced at 17X,XXXk's and receipts for heaps of other shit.

Completely standard except some cheap Speedy 17"s

Yeah 30 kilos heavier, Same Chassis,Same wheelbase but rear end is longer and roof is shaped different and is higher.

And im so damn sure they have a better weight balance than 2 door. :)

Pretty lucky to get a S2 for that price!

Does that rear badge says GTS-4 ?? :P

I got a bargain on my 33, as the rest in this thread have! Good bang for buck the 33's are..

Mine is a 95 series 1.5, it was stock besides buddy club coil overs and a cat back. Decent condition, paint on the bonnet is not great, and same with a small section on the roof. Being white, i didnt care and patched it up to look good with a damn can. Already has a heavy duty clutch, had 120 odd km on it, and came with the trusty old 33 coil packs that missfire.

Got it for $4000 12 months ago. Spent a little bit on it here and there, but the only necessary thing was the coil packs, the rest has been 'wants'

Jealous that you paid too much for you're car?

I can't be absolutely certain but I think "Iron Chef" imports cars and I'd say he could sh*t on anything posted so far.

From what I can tell after ghosting these forums and the Carsales the price varies greatly on quality and knowledge.

IMHO avergage prices for reasonable Skylines in this current market

32's about $6k

32 GTR's $18k - $25k ($30k for great examples)

33's $6k - $9k

33 GTR's $18K - $30k

34 GTT - $11k - $16k

34 GTR's $45k - $50K

Happy to be flamed peeps

PS. the money that goes into mods is NEVER recoverd.

One last thing to add. There are exceptions and exceptional cars that pull a good price but most fall into a class below that.

2 weeks ago i got my 1992 r32 gts-t coupe, it came with:

- tien coilovers

- gtr front and rear struts

- gtr cams (apparently, does sound lumpy for a rb20)

- front mount intercooler

- new splitfire coilpacks

- highflowed vg30 turbo

- new heavy duty ctutch

- full turbo back exhaust

- 17" wheels

also came with a S2 rb25det and manual box

$4000 cash moneys

car has minor scratching and one or two dints but has no rust and is pretty straight.

think i got a bargain

Bought my NA 5spd manual Supra about 3 years ago for $11,000. Was pretty much stock except for rims.

Put full exhaust in it, including extractors, 2-way TRD diff, and swaybars.

Sold it a month ago for $8,000.

You forgot the 31's (i fixed it)

And exactly my point with the mods

The money you spend on the purchase price can sometimes reflect the money you spend on the maintenance price. But just wondering for the guys that have owned their cars for awhile now how often do you sit there and think "I only paid [insert dollar amount here] for this car"? I personally am thinking more along the lines of "What can I buy next for the car" but I have owned my 93 R32 GTS-T for almost 5 years now and in keeping with this thread the dealership wanted 16k for the car but I got it for 11k just because I told them I would fix paint on the front bar and some of the interior myself.

If I could do it all again I would more then likely be speaking to Iron Chef about getting me a car from Japan because at the end of the day to buy a car locally at the same spec of some of the nicer imported ones you will be looking at the same costs anyway, But then again I would love to see you find a local car with a full log book as well.

I bought my 1998 R34 GTT with 86000kms a year and half ago for $14000.

See my signature below for the list of mods when purchased. It didn't have the FMIC, 'fool' pump, and Nistune then..

This thread is less of a "reality check for sellers" and more of a "look how cheap I bought my car/how big my e-penis is"...

No Sorry, if it was about e-penis size it would be "Check out my RWKW figure Biatches"

As per my first post, there are so many overpriced cars out there that sit on the market for months sometimes..... years.

I'm one for if your going to sell it, sell it in the first month and move on.

cheers

Theres a hachiroku on carsales now for 1-2years+

Idiot wants 29.5k. Yeah its nice and rare but lol!

I think its good for potential buyers to see the difference between asking price VS the real price people pay.

I guess its relatively straight forward with some more expensive cars, and its somewhat of a rule that you should haggle on price. But with the older, cheaper cars, how much can they move in price?

I think its very informative.

In my experience a car from a yard has 5k added to it compared to private sales price, lots of people buy card and cannot keep up maintainance, servicing and rego, these are the cars you look at and low ball them, they need the money, you've got the money, its a match made in heaven.

A lot of the trouble comes from people thinking they can get what they paid for it, it rarely will happen, no matter what people think in the end its only a car which is getting cheaper by the day.

Shop smart, shop S Mart.

    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
