Hey guys i just got my gtt back from unigroup

just want some feedback on how you think the tune looks, i dont have too much knowledge in this area.

I am happy with it though, it pulls like a rocket but the clutch is starting to slip already..

Well, for a standard turbo it looks unbelivably good. For a mid sized GT30 based turbo it looks pretty good. For a pair of T88s, it looks pretty shit.

But with 270rwkW climbing all the way to over 7200 rpm, of course it would feel pretty nice to drive. You should be happy. Unless you do have a pair of T88s on it!

Looks good. Boost takes a while to hit 20psi (from 18psi). Would add a bit more to the midrange if you get it holding better

That said, should have gone a GT3076 if all you were going to run was 20psi. Cheaper and would have had the same result

GTX = 24psi+ to make use of it.

It looks like it would hit 20psi before 3600 with better boost control/wastegate. Is it a .63 rear or .82? Internal gate too i'm guessing?

I guess it could flow 200kw by 4k on e85? I will let you know soon, mine should be here in 2 weeks. :)

assume it is bolted on to standard exhaust manifold internally gated then the result is average on pump 98. You will need to either run an external gate or get a better exhaust manifold to obtain higher top end.

looks like it dips down at 3800rpm , then comes good at 4500 then dips again at 5400rpm

Is that related to how much effort the tuner has put in?? like ignition timing and fuel maps?

Could be, but I doubt it. He mentioned that the clutch is starting to slip, so that's probably the cause of the dip at 3800. Then the shape from there could be caused by anything, like the smoothing software of the dyno or the ECU that's being used.

Why is it that unigroup dyno sheets always make things look like they are really responsive?

if you check out the below page, theres a pretty ordinary SR20 with a 3071R doing 200kw @ 4000rpm and 285kw peak which also lookslike its on boost for the entire run. I doubt its THAT great on the road. compare it to the lower graph and its only 200rpm off a T28.

to OP, its a little ordinary.. wants E85 and 25psi boost.

sorry for the lack of info, its 0.63 externally gated

ive only got a 38mm tial with the flange welded on the standard manifold

I couldnt find any good low mount manifolds that were ex gated

boost controller is a hks evc6

it does pull hard but the turbo is making a wierd noise on spool up, not too sure what this is, im not sure if i could be surging, never heard it before

i might have to take it back n get them to have a listen

aww and yeah its on pump 98

and its run off a power fc

It looks about right for a 0.63, it should look and feel responsive.

It will be a little limited in the top end but how much time do you spend up there??

Like The Mafia found there is plenty more compressor flow if you use WMI or pineapple juice to control knock.

cant the boost controller make it hit 20psi earlier?? my apexi would make the boost come on fast and hold it, that was with a internal highflow, yours is external so surely that could be improved, or is that because of the 0.63?

maybe its just the large scale used on that print out.

Yea....Power seems about right for the .63 rear end on a std mani, I got a little more out of one but that was running 95 and wmi (see turbo upgrade dyno thread P42) so 300rwkw is definately doable with wmi and 98. These comps have a lot left in them but the.63 chokes them badly.

As for the noise, cant say ...this one has a screamer :whistling:

The peak power is fine for it on the said boost and .63, no issues there. The midrange IS a little lacking, and you didnt have a crumby tuner do it for you.

Id probably look at getting a .82 and try run more boost if its possible. The GTX turbos arent necessarily going to keep up with a GT variant if at 'sane' boost levels.

Bit off topic, Do the gtx variations only start to show improvements over the regular gt3076 once they are boosted to about 25psi?

If the gtx offers a little bit of extra flow up top compared with regular gt3076, is there much difference in response between the two or are they hitting full boost at practically the same times?

The GTXs don't seem to be even as good as the GTs until you have at least 23psi or so.

im still not convinced yet, hopefully with more add ons like cams, cam gear, better boost controller and maybe even the tuner, the gtx might do better than that graph. Looks like this result is no better than Micko's GTX3071, be interesting to see both graphs layed over each other.

    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
    • So, now all you need to do is connect the 2 or 3x 12v feeds into the unit to permanent 12v, ACC 12V and IGN 12V that you can find in the spot behind the stereo, and the earth, and then it will switch on with the car.
