waiting for complaints of supply problems on popular sizes/compounds near WTA time as everyone tries to buy thier 3 or 4 sets... and the accompanying screams of favouritism/unfairness. lol

might impact IPRA too - their Nationals are only a few weeks before this, although less likely to be using softs...

Another year where I am going to have to pass as my wish list budget is being spent at the Australian GP :(

I sincerely hope that the control tyre means cheaper tyres for entrants and not even more expensive then the already too high consumable. It would suck to be getting cheap Dunlops/Bridgestone/Hankooks as the event just got a whole lot more expensive for them

My 2c...

If a control tyre is to be introduced then why not make it a slick like the supertaxis ? We may then see cars out for more than 1 lap per session.

This whole 1 lap shit is doing more damage to the spectators than anything else IMO.

Couldn't agree more. That's the main issue from just about anyone I talk too...

The fact that of a session for some classes, you might see each car out there once, twice if you are lucky. So it's very quiet on the track so to speak from a spectator, and given the ticket pricing is from memory more than a round of the V8 Supercars... Gotta keep the patrons happy as much as the sponsors, and what keeps sponsors happy? Happy patrons! :D

Narrowing track? Outside point will be the same though? track would remain the same. Still run 255 fronts then?

285 all around hopefully. Trying to get an offset that will fit within the guard and not foul in the front upper arm...

How about if the Yoko tyre, seeing it's now a control tyre, was supplied as Medium compound to all competitors.

This would reduce the amount of sets required to be competitive so saving $$ for competitors and increase the laps required to get them into the go zone.

This will/should put an end to the 1 lap wonders. (I understand Time Attack is about the fastest lap, but that doesn't mean it has to be on the only lap done)

More laps for your buck is always a plus for me and will be a plus for the event/sponsors/spectators.

They could be marked in a way, similar to the yellow stripe on the soft supertaxi slicks so it's clear your running the control tyre to the scrutineers.

Any entrant caught not running this special marking is to be kicked out....? Clearly they are trying to run a softer compound if their tyres aren't marked!!

Just a thought, not perfect, but something similar might work.

You only have to mark the outside of the tyre so any sets left over after WTAC could be simply mounted on the rim on the inside for future sales until all sold.

(I think the Yoko A050 is directional only and not left to right)

Rofl ahah "Firstly anyone who attended WTAC 2012 will attest to the fact that the weather conditions were less than perfect, and while we have zero control over the weather, it is historically a much milder, more pleasant environment to enjoy motor racing in October than August."

Fcking oath is was freeeeeeeeeeeezzzziinggggggggg last year.

THIS!

I froze my ass off last year

An award for "fastest consecutive 4 laps in a session" could assist in keeping cars on track and spectators in seats.

Has anyone got time to go through last years top times and point out which cars would be disqualified under this years rules?

my best guesses:

Nemo - no b-pillars, it must be more than 350mm wider than stock, probably 300mm rear overhang, possibly too light? no lights. probably other stuff.

Tilton Evo looks pretty well OK to me.

MCA S13 - too wide. Front and rear aero overhangs.

Scorch Racing maybe rear overhang.

Top Fuel S2000 probably ok

RE Amemiya RX7 looks ok

Adan Hi Octane R34 definitely front overhang

Pulse Racing Evo front overhang

Notaras Evo probably ok.

Panspeed RX7 looks OK

Cyber Evo probably front overhang and maybe width on their new 2012 splitter

rules have been ammended. changes to hatchback wing rule, min weights, and a few things for clubsprint including allowing any car to be turbo'd or blown in Clubsprint pandering the to 86 crowd...

can't wait for this year. Does anyone remember the yellow RX8? the one that was louder than a fking jumbo jet. Could hear it starting up in the pits let alone going on the track.

Yea the pan speed car, I was only a few garages down from it, rattled your teeth every time it came past!!

    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
    • When you pulled it off, there is no signs of blown head gasket? Is it possible you have some other issues going on? Possible cracked blocked? Or do you think it's straight up lifting the head? Did you check what the head was torqued to before pulling it down (To see if possibly they're stretching, or starting to break threads out etc)?
    • Seems like a decent result for a modded JZX110. They are bulky in comparison to the 100 and 90 models (which I'd prefer myself) but they are getting very few and far between here in JP these days. Thanks for the detailed review and the import process into the UK. I also have a car which I'm hoping to export from Japan at some stage so it's good to know if someone from the UK was interested in it. By the way the corrosion underneath is par for the course for cars which were located in/near the mountains or along the Japan sea coastline. They get huge amounts of snow every winter and the sodium chloride is used on the roads. Many cars have some kind of rubber like treatment underneath but they tend to limit it to the wheel arches underbody and fuel tank. Suspension arms and sub-frames will have similar corrosion to your JZX110 which is a common sight. See it all the time and car dealers here generally don't even mention it unless asked.
    • If the sound goes away when you clutch in, the 1.5/2 way diffs are just shit, and you are a normal person. The diff is likely "fine" but driving at anything under 30kmh is a violent horrible experience. It would be exaggerated with solid diff bushings and subframe bushings if you have those.
