Overnights parts from Japan

This is a Xmas Present from the Wifey. So probably won't be putting them on until then!

These are Quest LED lights (Nismo style)

Got these through a fellow SAU forum member elrodeo666. Good price, quick and easy to deal with! Would recommend!

And a pic from the weekend. Estblshd & PAC Paul Walker Charity Meet

Came up real nice

Are you going to get a gtr reo to see if that closes up the bonnet-bar gap?

…keen to see if it does so I can then do the same!

Yup have already ordered the GTR reo from Japan should arrive in Jan, and fingers crossed fitted late Jan/early Feb

Also fingers crossed I have time to fit this on in the next few weeks.

It's a ATR45 turbo that is the same specs as a 3582 from a XR6 Turbo. Should solve my turbo restriction issues

Just read through this, massive transformation, looks great! Still planning on tracking it?

Yup thats still the plan. Fingers crossed can track it for the full 2014 year

Things to go on within the next two weeks:

1. 3582 Turbo

2. Better intercooler piping bend

3. Shave off a bit of the suspension arm so I can fit my hankook rs3

4. Try and fix rubber heater hoses that are touching the manifold

5. Oil cooler + thermostat

Then will just need to look at a some suspension maintenance and a wheel alignment and the she should be set!

So in for a tune on the new turbo.

But there is an underlying problem with the car. At this stage it may be the injectors. So we are going to pull them out and flow test them

In coming to this analysis we switched to e85 fuel, so will probably just stick with e85 fuel.

At this stage the car makes 315rwkw at 4,500 rpm. Trent thinks it will get close to 400rwkw once the issue is fixed.

TBH 400rwkw seems way to much power for me to handle. So will see how it goes!

Didn't build anything on the weekend

Just got a car wash so its slipperier through the air and faster on the straights :ninja:

You really do love your car...

Just a more detailed post of the tune day:

Picture of the dyno, you can sort of see the dyno graph in the rear. Graph stops at 4,500 rpm

So something was stopping the car from making power and taking timing on the day.

At first suspect cam timing or compression. But checked cam timing on the dyno, and did a compression test. ~175psi across all cylinders.

Spark plugs changed. Dropped the exhaust. But made no difference. Still stuggling to make more than 310rwkw

So Trent tried a run on e85 but it still had the same issue. Car only took about 12 degrees of timing normally about 20. Only bumped up power to 315rwkw @ 4,500rpm

It is a suspected faulty injector so off to get it checked.

Pulled the injectors out this morning. As we have a suspected faulty injector. A simple quick test shows they seem to be ok. But will be sent away for a more detailed analysis

In prep for the Dyno. Scotty @ Scotty Customs did:

  • Turbo install
  • New fuel pump Walbro 460L/H
  • Metal turbo elbow, as a silicone one was a bit close to the manifold
  • New Return flow intercooler bend. As the old one was quite crap

Things to do over the next month:

1. Fix issue with car that is holding it back

2. Fix heater hoses touching manifold

3. Fit oil cooler

Tony. Get some steel zip ties for the heater hoses. Good shit

I don't think zip ties would work here. I think braided lines will need to be made and run it over the engine.

just realised you may be one of the only 300kw+ R34's to be using stock intake and airbox lol what a monster

Hrmmm Im sure there would be many out there!

Might need to do a sneaky mod and cut the bottom of the airbox and fit a pod with another intake down the track if it ever becomes a restriction

    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
    • Ah coolant overflow, previous discussions make way more sense now lol.
    • ok. Yea, then I would need to remove the turbo and weld an adapter on to it instead, if I fuc* this one up.
    • No. Only for a standard ECU with/without Nistune. Standalone has no need for it. That's like the 3rd time I've said so.   And as to that sensor linked - yes, it does look like it would be the right one. I've never bothered to see how available they were - just assumed that they'd be hard to find. I think I'd be planning to go Link ECU rather than buy sensors I don't actually want to make Nistune work, if I did not already have Nistune. As you do not already have Nistune, you should realy consider your options.
