Managed to do 5 a short break then 2 more, then 10 negatives as per Revs suggestion.

Whats the purpose behind negs? It didn't particularly feel like I was doing anything.

Birds, I thought anything other than palms facing away from the body would be considered a chin?

Palms facing each other is more neutral but will again not be the same as overhand grip. Going wide grip it would still work the angles will change at the shoulder though. I think you could do more of those than traditional overhand grip.

So I mistakenly decided to have a go at a set of pull ups straight after doing Rev's version of bench press (I'll PM you about that Rev).

I managed 16 reps then switched back to weighted chin ups.

I noticed I had some back/forth pendulum action developing and I noticed the rack was moving so I semi paused at the bottom of the 8th rep to steady.

So with the very slight pause you could say i cheated and could only really do 15, but then again if I didn't do it after Rev's I hate myself bench press I might have been able to do more.

I have a video of this also.

Interestingly, I felt it much more in the elbows/bicep/forearm tendons and after switching back to 25kg weighted chins could only manage a set of 6 then 4 lol.

It's normal. After you get the instructions for the second workout. You will find a bunch of excuses to not follow the instruction.

Each statement will refer to a limit based on a belief about yourself . It will infer a 'no' answer to the requested volume or routine.

Usually people reveal what self imposed limits they have on themselves. Your coach will do battle with the mind set and help you see things differently.

For example :

A) Girly Whine "I don't see me doing 10 continues reps , I only got 8 tonight because the first set was so light"

Break down : I won't do the requested 10 reps + ignorant girly whine

Belief : I'm not strong enough to do 10. I only did 8 reps but, they weren't real reps. I'm not really strong enough to do 8 reps, I'm just a little girl and little girls aren't strong he he he.....

Response from Coach (russian accent) ; " Enough whiney little girl man. You did 8 reps. Next you do 10 "

B) Girly Whine "I also have never ever had a break that long and come back stronger, I always come back weaker on that very first session back at it."

Break Down : I won't take the prescribed days of rest between workouts + ignorant girly whine

Belief : I believe I get weeker easily and that is my natural state becasue I revert back to my true little girl weakness. But, also becasue I am afraid not to have an excuse to avoid doing nasty stinky man training.

Response from Coach ; You do this workout properly with no excuses , you will think like strong man.Believe like strong man. You will set time and date to hit target. You will turn up on time. You will lift .

The responses are normal. But, without a push lessons are hard to learn.

Happy to endure a little more torture and get stronger ?

Whiner or winner. We are a mixture of both. Just adjust the ratios to gain more of what you do or don't want in life.

Mitch is like 5'9 though lol. I think being disproportionate is what can make a difference. It definitely increases your range of motion and by principles of torque can make exercises like squats harder. Still, not like it will hinder development of muscle...probably only be a disadvantage if youre competing against people with short limbs in weight competitions like bench contests.

There's a suggestion that long armed guys are better at deads and worse at bench press.

That's my issue, I'm more legs than torso so the torque through the joints is pretty high, and when you sit all day for work and are already weak legged, it's a hard slog to improve :D

All good though. Play the hand you're dealt.

not saying its a massive issue, but my limbs are long and lanky, got to be a slight hindrance.

wont let it stop me improving though

Seriously , it's not a problem. I am lankier than you. But, if you want to park in the disabled space at the gym you will need a sticker.

17th rep was a struggle. Last time I could do 17 of these, I weighed about 73kg. The first 7 or 8 feel like a piece of piss these days.

Been a while since I updated these

    • If you have a RB25DET NEO AWD motor, you will need this: https://www.hioctanedirect.com/ASR-RB26-RWD-Street-Comp-6.5L-Sump-Suit-R32/33/34-and-VL It is made for the AWD motor, but makes it fit a RWD setup and gives you a new pickup. Just one thing, the pickup sits quite forward, compared to a conventional RB25DET RWD motor. This may or may not have contributed to my previous AWD -> RWD shitting the bed at the track.
    • My car is also flex tuned. It's worth mentioning it (the LS1 ECU) has a 1D table for E85 addition and just uses the ethanol stoich part as the second point of reference. It also as a 3D timing map for Ethanol adjustment. You would think this isn't enough but it works pretty damn well. That said, I wouldn't want it in turbo application. It's like lifting non-natty, or taking meth. It gets you unrealistic results that break down more things going forward. If people used it to make the same amount of power they do on 98 then it'd be one thing. But people use it, crank it up to eleventy million PSI, it doesn't knock - but it pushes the point of failure to another, more expensive thing to break. Every time I see someone make 280kw on 98 and 350kw on E85 on the same equipment I just cry a bit and really wish they would just stay on 98 in that exact scenario. It's bad for you.
    • This is kind of what I was thinking but the temp sender wire and the two pressure switch wires run through the starter subharnes and I eliminated the two pressure switch wires completely.  @GTSBoy I have a can gauge with unusually bright warnings should the oil pressure fall so the factory light isn't needed. I need to dig out my wiring diagram and see if I can sort this out.
    • It's a valid point. And it is doable with the Nistune. But I'm not inclined to flex it the way Nistune does - certainly not on a Neo ECU. They're already pernickety enough to tune just one one fuel. And of course, I'm not that interested in putting in a Link or similar, on a daily. With the stock ECU, stock looking turbo, etc etc, I still stand a chance of surviving a run-in with the plod. Last time it went over the pits (which was for the transplant, for because of a run-in with the plod), the Nistuned ECU did not even raise an eyebrow. They want to see a stock ECU running the engine, and they are happy to see it do so without the check engine light** on. Never mind that the Nistune is necessary to make the stock ECU work in a different chassis without ABS, TCS, etc. **And they actually provoke the CEL to come on by disconnecting the AFM, to prove that the globe hasn't been pulled!
    • This is why you flex fuel it...
