Looking at doing more running in September before WTAC. I've got a new turbo, which will boost power a little. But I'm umming and arrring around swapping the manifold out for a larger side mount, more so to help with EGT and keep everything happy.

*tips hat to you* Very inspirational thread. And I'm so glad that a grassroots theory and practise approach is working so well for you! Can't wait to see you attack Sydney Motorsports Park in October! I'll be there to cheer you on.

Sad you couldn't make it to the MelbS15 track day, heard you had diff problems :( Anyways, I'm sure we will hit the track again soon! Sadly I wont be able to pose any serious competition for you lol.

You are very lucky to have a great team of family and friends to make your racing project a reality!!! ;)

Yeh the diff ingested itself the weekend before the MelbS15 day. Was looking forward too it.

More work on the car this weekend. Current turbo comes off and on with a new prototype from Hypergear. Which needs some additional pipe work etc, so will have to wait on that.

We still need to finish the rear diffuser and brake ducts at the front of the car. Then get the front bar painted.

For the moment, I think I'm going to stick with my brothers non ABS 1.5 way diff.

Are you going to pinch holes in the rear bar or banking on tucking it up super tight to the body?

I'm interested in DIYing a rear to go with my front so I'll be interested to see how you tackle it.

I can fit a flat floor though if I want as I'm just tooling around on club days.

mmmm, work has been getting in the way...

Car goes in for a tune next Wednesday. Doesn't look like I'll get any testing in beforehand. But the car is relatively setup, it's just the increased power factor.

Good luck for this, looking forward to seeing an (or a few) R33 going nicely at the event :) What is the new turbo?

Update on the road to wtac.

Trent put in a big effort to tune the car while getting thier car ready last week.

This is hypergears latest highflow. its a stock 21U exhaust housing with an ss1 comp housing and some trick customised wheels.

For something that cost under $900, its a good thing.

it wants more boost, but my engine is tired and has stock valve springs.

sob of a weekend.

we kept blowing cooler pipes, constantly. got very few laps in, there is more in learning the track and setting the car up.

in previous spec the car did a 47 around PI on ad08's. I'd expect a 43 in current trim and a 40 on a050's.

    • I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.
    • My Nismo 1.5 churps a bit on reverse turns when cold, but besides that feels like a stock diff.
    • Yes, but, I paid cash and I'm pretty sure the receipt was in the bin 10 minutes after I got home Note to self, keep all receipts
    • Bunnings would have just handed you your money back on that one!
    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
