Yesterday morning drove past 7 Eleven Liverpool, price was $1.459/L for E10 (I think). Came back from work in the evening, price went up to $1.59/L

7 Eleven (Mobil) Liverpool; Tuesday, 22 July 2013

E10: 1.599

95: 1.709

98: 1.759

141.9 sunday.

161.9 today.

20c hike in 1 hit.

Thanks for the extra data guys, I've updated the graphs on the first page.

And here's some more summaries:

Average margin by brand

cheapest and most expensive

It's interesting that the margin varies by price and location....so if you feel like you are taken advantage of because of where you live.....you are....

The thread I locked yesterday started as a recommendation of where to get bolt on spacer and had become an argument about whether time attack is racing, it was nowhere near on topic and was becoming a meaningless argument and likely to lead to personal attacks.

If you don't like a forum with discussions that stay on topic and don't get personal, go somewhere else.

Why derail other threads by arguing about locked threads?

Duncan, I did a fair bit on research a few years back, similar to what you where doing. It was more focused on the $AU vs Crude Price Vs my local station price

If can find my old HDD i'll get it to you, see if its relevant.

Also log the actual prices, not just board differences if you are gonna keep this up.

That chart echoes comments that I heard years ago - people bash the servos for price gouging but in reality they rely on people buying a pie/choccy milk/Mars bar/copy of Melons Monthly to actually get by.

Yes, the price of a coke at servo's fluctuates just like petrol does (Less regularly though).

It's also a major reason as to why coles, woolies and 7-11 are in the stations now.

I understand the price fluctuations.

but 20c in one day, to come down again?

this is what I think is a little ridiculous.

I certainly don't disagree with you, but we are talking about resellers. How they price in order to make their margin is at their discretion and according to that chart their margin is two fifths of three tenths of nothing - if their cost price goes up you can bet that the pump price will follow suit immediately, and the 2-3 day price spikes might be the only time during the week that they "make" money from petrol sales.

My 2 biggest complaints are that GST is calculated using the excise. Therefore tax on a tax.

And they say that price hikes are caused of the AUS dollar. They go up the day following the weakening of the dollar, but when the $ get stronger, the price comes down over a week+ time period.

Does anyone use this site? http://motormouth.com.au/pricesearch.aspx

Interesting stuff there. Doesn't cover all servos but I hit about 1/2 dozen round my post code.

They also have iPhone and Android apps for $3. Might be worth it if you save that in 1 or 2 trips.

  • 3 weeks later...

Since my last post here the cost has gone up about 20 cents across the board. Payed 176 per litre at the Caltex on pitt street. Woolworths and Coles should both be removed from the game. I feel this has more to do with their scams at offering 20 cents off fuel when you spend $100 in their stores. Coincidentally that's how much fuel has risen.

    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
