R32 Gtr Sump Upgrade?

OP, if I was in your shoes, this is what I would do.

Seeing that it's a street car ONLY, leave the engine in, put 6-6.5 litres in the sump and drive it (middle of the hump). I don't believe it's cost effective to pull the engine, sump off, pump, baffles then put it back in. You've just done a half assed job. If you're going that far you may aswell spend the little extra and give it a freshen up (IE Ring's and bearings. While you're there pistons and rods... Very easily get out of hand). We are now talking about a rebuild.

If and when the time comes, then do all the above.

Well the engine is coming out regardless because I'm respraying the whole car a different colour including the engine bay, so I will speak to them about doing the rest of the work as well as it's out, it's going to make sense in the long run I guess.

Paint the car and do the engine bay when the motor lets go cause its going to happen soon enough lol I cant believe Croydon told you to pull the motor, put an oil pump and sump on it and leave the rest..... if your dead set on painting the whole car then get the motor rebuilt and do it all at once.

There is no reason that CRD should damage the engine bay, i dont recall destroying anyones freshly painted engine bays when i pulled motors on GTR's.... there is heaps of room to work with when you have done lots of them ;)

As for the sump and pump, CRD use Performance Metalcraft i am pretty sure so the sump will be an awesome bit of kit and you will end up with a NItto pump. Not entirely sure what they are like for longevity, i guess time will tell.

Ok so new plan, respray car blue as it gun metal grey at the moment, and leave the engine bay the colour it is unless masking everything up will look ok

Perfectly said.

Forget all this $1700 sump, $1500 oil pump business... It's just not required.

Overfill the stock sump by 1ltr, drive around fine. Sumps, extensions etc, you'll never need them at that power level and use.

What colour is engine bay now, I have blue Gtr and bay is black from factory .. Just curious

It's also black but it has so many scratches on it just looks horrible, guess I could re black but thought it would look nicer in blue.

Not sure the photo really shows how crap it looks!

And this doesn't show how faded the paint is due to the water being on it!
