FB_IMG_1489839915623.jpg.efd41b1113ad21290d5d785aa18311bf.jpgOkay so now thats out of the way, i found a chip on the roof 6 months after getting it back on the road.

FB_IMG_1489839928137.jpg.7b6aeec378c59c444e7de21bdf03331e.jpgFB_IMG_1489839933316.jpg.a49cae796cc06f2c8ab73e1c348a12da.jpgFB_IMG_1489839933316.jpg.a49cae796cc06f2c8ab73e1c348a12da.jpgFB_IMG_1489839953102.jpg.78627cc4119bc89be7ef50f759f33b33.jpg

Having connections through work meant that i was able to call the painters and get his advise on what to do.

He recommended getting the air blower near the chip and blowing, this allows you to remove and loose paint and the remaining will be solid to the roof.

Well thats when the shit hit the fan.

I put the blower near the chip and proceded to blow the whole sheet of paint off the roof.

The person who had painted it prior to me didnt prep the roof correctly stopping the paint adhesion.

so like that it say for the last year.

Fast forward to this week and suddenly between customers cars i got some inspiration to work on my car.20170223_152216.thumb.jpg.1146173bfc68f0fbc89b5003bfcc3833.jpg

Motor out and bay stripped

Time to sand20170302_165215.thumb.jpg.f93972034c1000f6a40d3be92129f554.jpg20170310_210059.thumb.jpg.281d5239c09db933d8e8964d1e5fe5be.jpg

Primer and paint with new seam sealer

Going for a factory look but wanted it cleaner.

Due to the factory not clearing the bays they get very dirty and hard to clean.

I opted to clear the bay in my case as we do with alot of the other cars we build

So i feel when building a car it's the little things that make a difference.

The small things that you dont even see when the car is complete.

Some of the other cars we go the extent  of overspraying the underbody sealer on to the paint. We do this as thats how the car left the factory and the owners are that pedantic about makeing them perfect.

Anyways the reason for that breif explination is this.

Mixing and painting the facory primer back over the fresh paint to keep it as original as possible 20170317_171147.thumb.jpg.1c558182e921562863d066abcea959ea.jpg20170317_174759.thumb.jpg.11e142503ea778ae4a31c16fb5a0afb0.jpg20170317_175258.thumb.jpg.fc9eaaba12feec7d83e965cf59311896.jpg20170317_175241.thumb.jpg.722692bae5c5fcffc0a04b7b65aad638.jpg

Swung past the paint shop tonight not a huge amount of progress however glass is out and no rust around the rear window. So that is a  big plus.20170324_180405.thumb.jpg.3d00380374d0dd2883c5b6eaa3f448a3.jpg20170324_180416.thumb.jpg.e1c1bff55c6686c968c5f74cca782a47.jpg

Another saturday consumed by my lovely vehicle.

Spent the day at the paint shop stripping the rest of the body down. Just have the roof lining to remove and its time to prime.

Looking rather naked. Small section of rust to repair behing the drivers mud flap but other than that shells spotless.

Also had a bit of a play with some new heatproof paint. Thinking this for the block and other parts to be exposed to heat. Heres a picture of the heat sheilds all done20170318_144854.thumb.jpg.6778dbfbb13cccf11d7bcce42df7feab.jpg

On a side note my arc titanium front pipes arived from england.20170310_141842.thumb.jpg.c14801f3e2b7fef2da31ac313edb54ef.jpg20170310_141617.thumb.jpg.6bfa4a1efa53bdd3c77e620f7306bae6.jpg

Nothing fancy has been happening of late

Few parts rocked up so there in storage now. N1 washer bottle. R32 lip. New 1/4 trim windows

20170418_132205.thumb.jpg.87eca984781ee228baf52debe57284b4.jpg20170412_120123.thumb.jpg.f9117c42a86dc471e6cb85ec182a41d4.jpg

Fixed the little bit of rust behind the flap by cutting out the old piece. Sandblasting the metal and forming a new piece20170421_194538.thumb.jpg.c707097db0dd7bea685d786fdf7fffc7.jpg

Another Saturday slugging away at the workshop. Lower ball joints and bushes on this y34 20170422_153922.thumb.jpg.78378e83646c12918a5b6ddb62a0975d.jpg20170422_153941.thumb.jpg.72306c59f6fb2693035810d291d3aa15.jpg

Nissan really dropped the ball with this design. 1k for new arms as ball joint is integrated into the arm.

We got that sorted though with a replacement ball joint and milling the arm to suit20170417_155055.thumb.jpg.7764fe988f506d7b4eb8ec3bf6dfa820.jpg

Finished that off and headed off to the paint  shop to find that the car was in the booth in primer.

Very happy with the car appear from the small section of rust there was no other rust.20170422_122753.thumb.jpg.1ee74b1bf13c531f9e2fd9177b5fd536.jpg20170422_122737.thumb.jpg.d6b861eb501620331ca2974cee1185d0.jpg

So some good news and some bad news, good news got a trust titanium cat back exhaust to match up to the front pipes, received_1902284596464174.thumb.jpeg.598ce82a64712e08c7a9caf852e98a29.jpeg

bad news is as we were doing the final wash prior to color going onto the car this happened received_1902284783130822.thumb.jpeg.dd4dced7779b3f5d621c4424a034b90c.jpeg

Basically what happened is the same as the roof, the white paint that nissan applied to the car lifted and resulted in the whole primered section coming off.

This obviously meant that all the work on the 1/4 pannels was lost and we had to start again.

Out came the paint stripper? received_429356477444487.thumb.jpeg.4e4e4bbcd24eb6d2ab6c8b4e510f27ec.jpegreceived_1902453593113941.thumb.jpeg.f379b71942f698c695c2d75372e58878.jpegreceived_1902453056447328.thumb.jpeg.ee15f9454c06d0d98b2553ea144c6b1d.jpeg

All that hard work down the drain, but on the plus side it means the whole car is now bare metal rrespray and it meant i got too see what was hiding behind  any factory paint.

received_1902284423130858.thumb.jpeg.6602bc8077bc5bd00476d9da0e10bd28.jpeg

This is about the extent that the paint stripper would get the paint off the quarters, the roof was saved as we stipped it back before due to the same issue.

We then move onto the mechanical removal of the paint to bring it back to bare metal and highlight any problem spots

After an hour or 3 and a few beers we end up with thisreceived_1902284286464205.thumb.jpeg.285d8c1b5b45697215a590bc02cd9466.jpeg

As im running n1 side skirts i didn't have to strip any of the lower sill area as the sun helps with the prevention of delamination and we had no issues with the few test spots.

Few more hours later and we have

Ready for primer, the few tiny dents will be metal finished. Over all I'm  very happy with how nice the quarters are with only tiny spots of bog, which has now been removed wnd repaired properly.

The spare parts pile gets bigger for my car with the purchase of a new overflow bottle and cap to match the washer bottle. received_1902284749797492.thumb.jpeg.9bc25394074b0b36b44190c9ae7dafa8.jpeg

Small steps keep this more affordable.

Here is an example of a respray the boys did over at the paintshop and the body of the restored engine bay on the black gtr we didreceived_1902284676464166.thumb.jpeg.bc8e93f6227e5425fb0ddad25d235400.jpeg

And of cource my engine bay is still looking mighty fine.received_1902284373130863.thumb.jpeg.c8693cc5ac10dbb9b691bd0d40bf9ea7.jpeg

Talk soon guys.

P.s how do you change the thread name?

    • What 1.5 way? There's no such thing really as a 1.5 way, just different ways of explaining 2 ways with different ramp rates. HOWEVER. In any driving in a straight line your 1.5 or 2 or 1.7 way should have no clunking at all. With the clutch fully depressed the diff should be silent (unless it's welded but I'm assuming it's not). Something aint right here.
    • Clutch is a spec brand, new clutch system,( PP, flywheel, friction disc, etc. pull type) installed 100 miles ago, with no problems.
    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?
